ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 50 lbs KNOWN WITH DOGS: Ruby does well with other dogs. She is able to participate in play groups at the Homeward Trails Adoption Center. KNOWN WITH CATS: Ruby has demonstrated prey drive while on walks attempting to chase squirrels and stray cats. As such, we do not wish to send Ruby to a home with small companion animals. KNOWN WITH KIDS: Ruby lived with two teenagers and a preteen. Based on other information, we would suggest Ruby would do best in a home with low traffic. KNOWN COMMANDS: We are still working on how many commands Ruby might know. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Ruby appears to be housebroken. KNOWN LIKES: Ruby loves being outside, going on long hikes and walks. In her previous home, she worked with a trainer several times wherein she greatly improved with her leash walking skills. She does really well meeting strangers and other dogs while on walks. KNOWN DISLIKES: Ruby can be reactive to lots of activity outside her home. She was also reactive to new people coming into her home. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Introducing Ruby - a precious gem of a pup ready to shine bright in her forever home! With an estimated weight of 50 lbs, Ruby may be a big girl, but she's as precious as they come, with a heart full of love and loyalty waiting to be shared with her new family. In the world of canine companionship, Ruby is a true gem - she gets along well with other dogs and is a pro at participating in playgroups at the Homeward Trails Adoption Center. However, it's important to note that Ruby has demonstrated some prey drive during walks, showing interest in chasing squirrels and stray cats. As such, she would do best in a home without small companion animals. When it comes to her interactions with kids, Ruby has experience living with teenagers and a preteen. Based on this information, we believe Ruby would thrive in a calm and low-traffic environment where she can feel safe and secure. In terms of commands and housebreaking, Ruby is a work in progress, but she's eager to learn and please her humans. And when it comes to her likes, Ruby is in her element outdoors - she loves going on long hikes and walks, and she's made great strides with her leash walking skills through training sessions with her previous owner. She's also friendly and sociable with strangers and other dogs she meets along the way. While Ruby is a precious gem, she does have her dislikes - she can be reactive to lots of activity outside her home and may exhibit possessive behaviors. However, with the right guidance and training, we're confident that Ruby will continue to blossom into the shining star she's meant to be. So, if you're ready to open your heart and home to a precious jewel of a pup, look no further than Ruby - she's ready to become your loyal companion and faithful friend for life. Don't miss out on the chance to welcome this special girl into your family - adopt Ruby today and watch as she brightens up your world with her love and affection! Story
Tiva was turned in to the shelter because her people lived in a apartment with no yard to play in, and Tiva loves to run around and play.Tiva is very cute little border collie mix, she has one blue eye and one brown eye, she is very smart as most border collie's are. She absolutely loves to play ball and returns the ball back, ready to go again, she cant wait for you to throw it.Tiva is a excellent frisbee catcher, she just soars off the ground to catch it and will return it back to go again. She will play as long as you will let her, she's always ready to go.We think she would do best with active family or person, with someone that has time to play with her and keep her busy.Come see this cute fun size girl, she is lots of fun. Story
Here is what sweet Jordie's foster mom tells us about this puppy: 'Jordie is really coming out of her shell and has acclimated very well to our family. She is quite playful and energetic, and after a short adjustment period, she and our other dog are getting along well. They even nap together! She takes treats by hand gently and is learning to go potty outside with just a few accidents. She is being crate trained and sleeps well most nights. Jordie is definitely a people person and loves cuddling and snuggling (she takes her very best naps on my lap!) and spends much of her day sleeping under my desk while I work.' Story
Indigo and his litter mates were dropped off at an overly full shelter in NC when they were about 6-7 months old. They were afraid and under socialized. About a month later they were transferred to yet another shelter where we met Indigo. We are working on him getting more confidence by going on outings and introducing him to new surroundings/people/dogs. He’s doing very well but still needs more time doing these things. In the house his "puppyness" is starting to show. He’s more comfortable inside and will become a more normal goofy puppy that makes us laugh every day. He’s doing well with his housebreaking but will need to be taken out after he’s had food and nap time. Indigo responds to Uhuh (as in “no”) and he’s doing very well in the house overall apart from the occasional chewing on things he shouldn’t. We are working on crate training and he’s doing better every day. We transport him in a crate in the car and he’s getting much more comfortable with that as well. Now he sleeps through the car ride. For his breed. Your guess is our guess. We are thinking he might have some Cattle Dog in him? Indigo hasn’t been around children and is afraid of them. Therefore, we recommend a home without kids. He’s done extremely well with the other foster dog in the home (he’s quite smitten with Miss Jessie) and we like the way she sometimes bosses him around. Please come meet this adorable pup with radar ears. If you have any questions about him please let us know. We will be happy to answer them.
