Story
Ford is a dapper young Boxer that was dumped on the street once his family realized he had gone blind. What makes the situation even more heartbreaking is that Ford’s blindness was preventable! Unfortunately we got him too late, the damage had already been done. When we got Ford over to the shelter, it was already clear that he could not see anything. His eyes were bulging and red; they just looked so uncomfortable. We took him over to our vet the following morning where we discovered what ended up being the cause of his blindness – incredibly high blood pressure! Ford had to be run over to the specialist where we learned that because his high blood pressure went untreated, it caused the retina’s in both eyes to detach! Once we got his blood pressure under control, we had another hurdle to get over…removing one of his eyes. Unfortunately this could not be avoided, but he recovered so well, and is much more comfortable now! We could not have asked for a better patient through all of this, Ford didn’t complain or act out once. He takes his daily blood pressure medication so easily! This boy certainly lives up to his name, as he is built tough!! Now that we finally have his medical needs under control, Ford is ready to find a loving home of his own! He will require medication to manage his blood pressure for the rest of his life, and we do not expect him to regain vision in his remaining eye. We know Ford will need a special kind of adopter, but we know the perfect Boxer lover is out there!August 7, 2025, 3:35 pm

Vinnie was thrown over my 3 foot fence by his owner who took off like a bat out of hell in his black pick up truck. He lay on my front lawn as calm as can be. He has a remarkable tranquility and calmness about him. He's sociable with other dogs, never aggressive, playful and overall just. a real gentleman. &#226&#128&#139If you are looking for pure love, Rascal is your dog!  He loves his belly rubs and is a very affectionate, beautiful boxer.  He’s a people person dog and would do better as an only dog . He has been through extensibe training but he's made it clear that it's people he wants to be around instead of other dogs.  Rascal loves to learn, and he trains well.  He would do well with an active family as he needs lots of exercise.  He is still young and very excitable but is learning manners quickly.  If it sounds like Rascal could complete your family, please submit an application to R&R Boxer Rescue and let’s get this ball rolling!    If you would like to meet Rascal, please complete an application so that one of our volunteers can contact you! http://www.rrboxerrescue.org/adoption-application.html   April 19, 2025, 11:35 pm

Story
Toni came up from Mexico a few months ago and has been settling in. He was a street dog, covered in ticks and hadn't eaten a good meal in a long while. He got checked out at the vet, got a good bath and some meds, and headed to his foster home. Here is what we now now about him. He has never met a human he doesn’t like. He loves a good snuggle session and is learning to play with toys. He especially likes ropes and plushies. He gets along fantastically with cats and small dogs. He has spent time out at the farm and doesn’t mind horses, pigs, or chickens. He does great in a crate (as long as he can’t see you.. otherwise he will sing you the song of his people). He’s house trained as long as you put him out once he wakes up from a long sleep. He isn’t great at alerting you about it, but once you know him you’ll know his subtle cues. Now for his quirks. He's not a fan of bunnies, but prefers the company of smaller dogs . He has a very sensitive tummy, probably from eating trash on the streets, so he will need slow introductions for any food changes, and all trash cans need to be secured, since he sees them as a food source. He can also be persistent about trying to get to your dinner, and prefers to dine apart from other animals so that he doesn't have to worry about anyone taking his precious food, but will let people handle his food. Overall, he's a really good snuggler and would love a family to call his own where he can continue to learn that he will always have food, love, and a soft bed. He's about 3 years old and in Southern/Central California. If he looks like you're perfect match please comment or fill out an app on our website. May 6, 2025, 11:47 pm

Story
Henry came to us by way of the SEAACA animal shelter.  When he arrived at the shelter two weeks prior, he was in pretty terrible shape.  His ears were destroyed by fly strikes, and his entire muzzle was covered in scabs/sores.  He waited for two weeks, but nobody ever claimed him, and he wasn't adopted.  We were able to step in and save him from taking his final walk. Henry is literally one of the calmest boxers we have ever seen. He's pretty solid, but so so so tender. He has those beautiful, soulful, amber eyes.  It's obvious that Henry wasn't dealt the best hand early in his life, and he probably spent most of his time outdoors. Our vet examined him thoroughly and ran all of the appropriate tests.  He believes Henry to be about 3 years old, but we are estimated between 3-5 just to be safe (his teeth indicate closer to 3).  He really just wants to be your couch buddy.  Do you have space?  If so, please fill out an adoption application located here:  Adopt (rrboxerrescue.org)November 6, 2024, 12:12 am

Story
Spike is a big sweetheart. He is a great protector, does not beg, gets along with most dogs, and is crate trained. Spike was surrendered by his owner as they recognized that he was not getting sufficient attention and love. For most of his day, he was chained or in a crate; he was rarely walked. He was surrendered to us to receive better care. A4P has updated his shots, got him fixed, had his teeth cleaned, and we are happy to report he has a clean bill of heath. In his foster home, Spike is LOVING his walks but will need more leash training. He would make a great addition to any family.

Story
Courtesy Post...Cooper is not a Dream Team Angels Rescue dog. Cooper is a four-year-old American pit bull and sheep dog mix. He hasn't had the best of luck finding a forever home as his original owners couldn't keep him and his current owners have fallen on hard times during the pandemic. Nonetheless Cooper is a happy lovable dog who interacts well with the cats, other dogs and children that he currently lives with. While he does get along with the animals in his current home he does display dominant behaviors when he comes across other animals he is not familiar with. Cooper will need to be slowly introduced to other animals in the home. He is bilingual and understands commands in English and Spanish. He is also known to pitch in around the house, often helping with carrying the grocery bags from the car into the house. Cooper is in great health and is neutered. If you live in southern California and would like to meet handsome Cooper, please fill out an application on Dream Team Angels Rescue's website: https://dreamteamangelsrescue.com/adopt He is currently located in Gardena, California. Cooper looks forward to meeting you!

Story
Mindy was living in a local shelter for 7 months before we placed her in foster care. During the first few weeks of her time at the shelter, she responded well to volunteers walking and engaging with her. Sadly, it did not take long for her to start to withdraw. In the last few months at the shelter Mindy was terrified of every noise on her walks to the point where she would not walk at all. In foster care, Mindy is doing well but is still exhibiting signs of fear to loud noises. Currently she lives in a home with a cat and dog where she gets along with them most of the time. However, based on her interactions, we recommend a home with no small children and perhaps as an only dog. Mindy is still decompressing from her shelter experience and will need more time for her loving personality to return. Mindy needs a forever home that will give her the gift of patience with love.
