Kiwi is a 3 yr old male boxer/bulldog/pit bull mix. He completed a 2-week training to help with some behaviors from being in a shelter most of his life- difficulty meeting new people, etc. He will need a patient owner to continue his training & Charlie's Place will pay for training as part of his adoption. He knows his basic commands, loves going on hikes & exploring & playing fetch! He is loveable & affectionate and has been getting along well with other dogs with proper introductions. Hey there, I’m Susie! I’m a 4-year-old Bully mix with that classic look — chonky, short, and strong! Right now, I’m hanging out in a foster home where I’ve been learning all sorts of good manners. I even graduated from a 7-week basic obedience class (I’m pretty proud of that!) and my awesome foster keeps helping me learn new things every day so I can be the best doggo I can be. I’ve got a big personality — loving, loyal, and just the right amount of sassy. I’m not a fan of cats, and I can be a bit particular about other dogs, so I’d probably do best as your one and only pet. But trust me, I’ve got enough love to fill your whole home! If you’re looking for a sweet, spunky girl who’s ready to make you smile every day, I think we’d be a perfect match! Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! He attends daycare to get his wiggles out with other pups. He does best with dogs that match his energy level and will run and chase them. He would be fine as the solo dog in his forever home. Good with cats? Not Tested. He has seen cats while out on walks and has not been overly interested. Walter has met a chicken and was very curious, but not aggressive. Good with kids? Walter has met children and has been good with them. Because of his playful puppy-mouthing, he might be best with older kids, 7+, or those that are accustomed to high energy dogs. Energy level: High! Walter needs plenty of activity, exercise and stimulation to be his best self. He loves walking and hiking! He is good on a leash and may pull towards dogs when they are close but is super manageable. He loves to play with his flirt pole, chew toys and plush panda.
