Her prior owner shared that she’s potty trained and “very shy at first but sooo loving,” which sums her up perfectly. She’ll benefit from positive-reinforcement training to learn the basics and continue blossoming. Because she has a prey drive, she’ll need a home without small animals or cats. Ruby Doo is a Boxer/Heeler mix with a soft spirit and a whole lot of potential. She came to us a little unsure of the world, but every day she opens up more — offering shy tail wags, leaning in for gentle pets, and showing us the goofy, loving pup she’s becoming. Her Boxer side gives her that expressive face and tender heart, while her Heeler side brings the smarts and loyalty that make her such a rewarding companion. Ruby Doo will thrive with someone who understands that confidence grows with patience, routine, and love. She’s ready to bond deeply with her person — the kind of dog who will quietly follow you from room to room and blossom into your most devoted friend. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2711572##

It absolutely breaks my heart but after a lot of thought, training efforts, and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to rehome Maple. For the past 3 years, our dogs were the best of friends. Unfortunately, things have changed in the past few months, and despite time and training, they have now gotten into 3 very serious fights with each other. At this point, we have to put everyone’s safety and wellbeing first.Maple is a sweet, affectionate, cuddle loving dog who loves every human she meets! She loves to play fetch and walks great on leash. She will be a friend for lifeMaple has shown aggression toward our other dog Bella, but has historically gotten along with dogs her whole life. She has two best friends that she hangs out with regularly. We believe she would do best as the only pet in a loving household where she can thrive and get the attention she deserve.This is not a decision we made lightly, and we are committed to finding the right fit — not just the fastest one.
