Meet Penelope - 2-year-old Staffordshire Terrier Mix

She's the perfect age—past the challenging puppy stage but still young, playful, and eager for new adventures. Personality
Penelope is an affectionate, gentle girl who absolutely thrives on love and attention. Ear scratches, belly rubs, and cuddle time are her favorite things! She has wonderful house manners and has learned to wait patiently for an invitation before hopping onto the couch or bed. When she's invited up, she's an expert snuggler.
She also settles beautifully on her own and has been practicing relaxing independently, which makes her comfortable being left at home (or in the car) for short periods.
She has come so far in building confidence and trust in her humans, and gentle patience will help her continue to thrive.
Home Life
Penelope is a polite girl and has made fantastic progress learning household routines.

She's athletic, enthusiastic, and would love an active family who enjoys getting outside. But she can be a couch potato too.
Training & Manners
Penelope is incredibly smart and eager to learn. She walks nicely on leash with only occasional pulling and continues to improve every day.
She's learning to calmly ignore squirrels, rabbits, and other small critters while on walks, and she's already very quiet in the yard. She doesn't bark or react to passing dogs, people, bikes, or cars, making her a wonderful walking companion.
She'll alert you if she notices something outside the house but isn't a frequent barker.
Even during Fourth of July fireworks, Penelope handled herself well - she chose the comfort of her kennel instead of becoming overly anxious.
The Perfect Home
Penelope is looking for a family that will continue helping her build confidence with calm, patient, and kind leadership. She bonds deeply with her people and blossoms when she feels safe and loved.
She may do well with another dog, but slow, thoughtful introductions will be important to help everyone succeed.
