Meet Drake! The sweet boy was rescued at the last minute from the euthanasia list of a high kill shelter in San Antonio, Texas. He is 45 pounds and is thought to be a Boxer mix. He has dark, beautiful brindle markings and golden-colored eyes... very striking! Not only is he beautiful, Drake is also very smart- he knows sit, stay, lay down, and kennel. He listens amazingly well. Drake is friendly with other dogs and seems to be good with cats as well. There isn't a person he meets that he doesn't love- are you ready for love? Drake is currently living in a boarding facility in San Antonio, Texas, awaiting an adopter or open foster home in San Antonio or Colorado. Please bring this boy into a home for the holidays. I even graduated from a 7-week basic obedience class (I’m pretty proud of that!) and my awesome foster keeps helping me learn new things every day so I can be the best doggo I can be. I’ve got a big personality — loving, loyal, and just the right amount of sassy. I’m not a fan of cats, and I can be a bit particular about other dogs, so I’d probably do best as your one and only pet. But trust me, I’ve got enough love to fill your whole home! Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets!
