Story
Sweet Trevor wound up at ACS (Animal Care Services) in San Antonio, Texas and after a couple weeks there, he was added to the euthanasia list due to space. A rescue on site at ACS reached out and asked Red Fern to save this guy because he was so sweet and his kennel mate in the shelter had been saved but Trevor was left which means he would quickly be sent to the top of the euthanasia list. Trevor is sweet, easy going and happiest when he's spending a quiet evening lounging around and receiving back scratches. Don't be alarmed by his sad, red eyes- he has Cherry Eye which he will get treated for soon. His calm and collected nature makes him perfect for somebody who wants an easy dog that fits right in quick. He loves tasty treats and offering him a few will endear him to you even more than he already was. Trevor is more interested in people than other dogs so would be a great solo dog. Trevor just caught the flight up from San Antonio, Texas to Denver, Colorado and is being fostered in Westminster. ##2333624##

Story
I'm a sweet girl. No one knows my history, but I already knew how to sit when I was found, so someone loved me I need to find that again! Are you my person? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2204969##

Story
Meet Big Bang! Get ready for a BOOM of joy and excitement with this lively little pup! He’s bound to create a universe of fun in your home! At 4 weeks old he weighed 5.8lbs In a few weeks, each puppy will need a loving planet to call home. We are encouraging foster-to-adopt arrangements and sending them off in pairs. 🌠🌠 It sounds crazy but two puppies are easier than one. We need loving foster homes for these stars to socialize, habituate, and learn how to shine. We’ve gotten questions about their breed. It’s hard to say at this time. What we do know is they have an incredibly sweet, and petite mama, who’s quite a mix. For now we’re we’re going with our favorite breed: RESCUED! We have a DNA test that’s been sent off to the lab, we’ll share the results as soon as we have them. Mama Indy is a petite Boxer looking mix. She weighs 35lbs. has a very sweet disposition, is a quick learner, gets along with other dogs, and doesn’t have any health issues that we know of. If you’re interested in sharing your life with one of these bundles of light, please fill out a foster or adoption application. They’ll be ready to launch into new homes sometime after their 6 week birthday and first round of puppy vaccines on April 27th. All puppies will be provided their first and second round of puppy vaccines. Four rounds of dewormer. A microchip with lifetime enrollment – no pesky annual fees. Spay/Neuter procedures as well as rabies vaccines and their third round of puppy shots to be set up and scheduled with adopters. MFDM.org

Story
Meet Indy! Mom to 9 puppies born on March 15, 2025 Before she became a mom we had time to get to know her a little bit. Indy was very shy at first and cowered from people and outstretched hands. She always meshed well with her furry foster brothers and sisters. In fact, it was them who helped build her confidence and taught her how to be a dog. Since giving birth to her nine beautiful pups on March 15, 2025, Indy has truly blossomed. Becoming a mom brought out her quiet strength and her gentle, nurturing nature. Despite her early fears, Indy has shown us just how far she’s come. She now wags her tail when she sees people she trusts, and she’s learning that hands can bring comfort, not harm. She still takes her cues from other dogs, so a home with a confident canine sibling would be a big bonus for her. She also does beautifully with children — she’s calm, respectful, and so very gentle. Indy would thrive in a quiet, loving home where she can continue to grow and feel safe. She’s not the type to demand attention, but she’ll give you the softest eyes and the most grateful heart. With a little patience and a lot of love, she’ll become someone’s perfect shadow — the kind of dog who doesn’t ask for much but gives everything in return. She’s still nursing her puppies, but we’re beginning to look ahead — to the life she deserves once her mama duties are done. If you’ve got room in your heart for a dog who’s overcome so much and still chooses love, Indy is waiting to meet you. Please fill out an Adoption Application today! We are eager to find her the perfect home and help her have a new start soon after her puppies receive the same. Indy's puppies are available to adoption too! They will be ready to go to forever homes on April 27th 2025 Please visit our website MFDM.org to read their bios and apply to adopt!

Story
Sherlock Bones is a happy and sweet boy with a heart as big as his smile. He’s quick to make friends and loves spending time with both people and other dogs. Sherlock already knows some good manners—he can sit and shake on command—but he’s still learning how to walk nicely on a leash, as he tends to pull a bit and would really benefit from some leash training. With his cheerful personality and eagerness to please, Sherlock is ready to find a loving home where he can continue to learn, grow, and share his joyful spirit every day.

Story
Draco is a 1.5y pitty. He is potty trained, up to date on vaccines, and knows all the basic commands. He is a wonderful boy with moderate energy. He likes to play, but loves a nap on the couch. He is great with kids (who know boundaries) and has been trained so his kennel is his safe place if he needs a break from people. He is still working on not jumping on people and will pull on the leash when excited. We are looking to re-home because he has recently begun attacking our other dog. He does it out of "jealousy" and does not appreciate seeing another dog get attention. He needs to be the only dog in the household. He is a piece of our family and for that reason, I am willing to invest the time needed to ensure he ends up in the right home.
