Meet Drake! The sweet boy was rescued at the last minute from the euthanasia list of a high kill shelter in San Antonio, Texas. He is 45 pounds and is thought to be a Boxer mix. He has dark, beautiful brindle markings and golden-colored eyes... very striking! Not only is he beautiful, Drake is also very smart- he knows sit, stay, lay down, and kennel. He listens amazingly well. Drake is friendly with other dogs and seems to be good with cats as well. There isn't a person he meets that he doesn't love- are you ready for love? Drake made it out of the shelter, out of boarding in San Antonio, Texas and made the journey up to Colorado, currently being fostered in Denver, available to meet! Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets!
