Story
Nadya was found as a stray and brought into a rural shelter 2 days before giving birth. HART was able to get her and her babies into a foster home before the week was up! This girl is the sweetest you'll ever meet. All she wants is love and she has plenty to give. She was the best momma any puppy could ask for and wanted to care for them long after most dogs lose interest. Nadya now needs a family to take care of her. She is house and crate trained but doesn't get into anything when left home alone. She walks nicely on a leash although will get excited at an occasional squirrel. Thank you for your interest in Nadya! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=18695 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Nadya, or to submit an online application. HART adopts to the local DC/VA/MD metro area only. Visit our website for more information about our adoption process.

Story
Ava is a sweet, loyal, and loving dog. Her current family adopted her in the fall of 2018 and were told she was about 6 months old at the time. She grew up in a house with 3 teenagers (2 boys and a girl) and two moms. The teenage girl of the family really raised her and trained her and took care of her for 6 years and Ava was a lifesaver during those dark days of the pandemic. Ava can be friendly with other dogs but doesn't like ALL other dogs. She recently made friends with a neighbor's boxer, who is about 2 and Ava and this boxer play very well together. Ava also likes people but not ALL people. Ava thrives on routine and her new home may have new routines. But her routine in her current home for the last 6 years has been two walks a day (now that kids are at college, the walks are 30 minutes each, the walks were longer when teenager was caring for Ava), periodic playtime in basement chasing a tennis ball (she tires out pretty fast), lots of down time napping in her crate, which she really loves and is like her den. She will also nap outside her crate if she's with someone else, but she does like her crate. The best new home for Ava will be with people who are 'dog people' who are able to be attuned to her. Ava is used to being in a home where she's the only dog and that seems to work well. However, we can imagine Ava doing well in a home with another dog (if its the right dog) to keep her company and for play. Thank you for your interest in Ava! Chloe is a kissing angel. Her lack of hearing doesn't stop her from keeping up with the big dogs, and is learning hand signs currently. She appears friendly towards kids and other dogs and absolutely never stops kissing. This heart breaker is crate trained, leash trained, house trained and alerts you with dancing when she needs to go out. Don't miss your chance with this one of a kind beauty!

Story
Hello!! Are you finding yourself laughing or smiling at Dior's photos? I ask because those are the reactions we get ALL THE TIME when we are out in public! People LOVEEEEE this big fella & they relish over how beautiful he is. Or they get a laugh at his over-sized tongue! (no such thing as bad press right haha). What can I say about this big guy??? Hmmm, well he is majestic-looking, really handsome, and has a lot of swag! He is very mellow and doesn't bark. He loves to lounge around the house napping and playing with his toys, but his favorite has to be hiking. This big guy loves the outdoors! He walks well on the leash. Knows a few commands. Trained with e-collar. Dior is crate-trained and house-broken. He would love to be the only dog in the home. I took Dior in 2 years ago after a death in the family. I am now having to care for my 71YO mother and dogs are not allowed in the home. I am so desperate to find him a family that I am willing to pay a portion of training (if needed)
