Story
Ordelia is funny, loyal, and very sweet. She makes a loveable companion. Ordelia loves her humans and enjoys following them around the house very interested in whatever you are doing. She does love to snuggle and will settle down next to you while you`re working, reading a book or to binge watch your favorite tv shows! She loves playing ball but her rope toy is her favorite. Ordelia also loves walks, sniffing is one of her favorite pastimes. Ordelia does have a few quirks. She loves greeting humans but she does so with a loud `hello` bark -- she has one volume generally speaking and it can be off putting to some folks at first.  Another quirk is that when on walks, Ordelia is overly interested in other dogs. Sometimes it seems as if she wants to play and others she seems protective. She also LOVES kids but does not like strollers!? We can say, if you are looking for a cute and reliable companion – Ordelia is your gal.

Story
Meet Orange Blossom! Orange Blossom is as sweet as her name suggests. This lovely girl has been incredibly gentle and patient during her stay, happily soaking up attention from staff during her treatments and taking treats with the softest manners. She loves spending time with her people and is always ready to lean in for a little extra affection.Orange Blossom is also a smart pup who enjoys learning! She loves working on simple training exercises, is eager to engage with her handlers, and walks nicely on her harness while taking in the world around her. She has a relaxed, affectionate personality and truly shines when she has one-on-one time with her favorite humans.Because shelter life can be overwhelming, Orange Blossom has shown that she can become overstimulated around other dogs, especially when they`re barking or nearby on leash. For that reason, she`d be happiest as the only dog in her new home, where she can enjoy a calmer environment and be the center of your attention. She has so much love to give and would thrive in a home where she doesn`t have to share it.

Story
Looking for the perfect mix of adventure buddy and cuddle companion? Ryder is your girl! This beautiful silver sweetheart loves spending time with her people. She may greet you with an excited hello, but she quickly settles into a calm, affectionate companion who loves leaning against you or curling up on the couch for a nap. Her foster family says she`s incredibly quiet—she rarely barks—and her soulful eyes are impossible to resist.Ryder is housetrained, rides great in the car, knows sit, paw, and down, and is always eager to earn a tasty treat. She enjoys neighborhood sniffaris and walks nicely on leash, though squirrels and rabbits are definitely her favorite distraction! She also loves soft toys (especially if they need a little `de-stuffing`).One of Ryder`s most charming quirks? If someone plays the flute, she`ll happily sing along with the sweetest howl, making every performance a duet!If you`re looking for a loyal best friend who will happily join you on walks, relax beside you during movie nights, and fill your home with love (and maybe a little music), Ryder is ready to meet you!

Meet Netta, a sweet and low-maintenance companion who knows the value of a good nap and a belly rub! She’s fully housetrained, sleeps soundly through the night, and loves nothing more than curling up on the couch with her favorite human—her ideal day is simply being near her person, getting up occasionally just to check in and make sure you’re still there.Netta enjoys leisurely walks, taking in all the scents along the way, and she walks nicely on a collar. Just be prepared for a burst of excitement if a squirrel, rabbit, or other critter crosses her path—her inner hunter definitely wakes up! In the yard, she’s content to sniff around and take care of business before heading back inside to relax.Netta rides great in the car and settles in easily for the journey. Netta would thrive with someone who is home often and can give her the consistency and companionship she craves. She has some adorable quirks too—like her little “tap dance” when she wants attention—and even surprised everyone by discovering she can swim after an unexpected dip in the pool! With her expressive white eyebrows and slow, easygoing nature (think sloth vibes!), Netta has the charm of a wise old soul. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate companion who will remind you to slow down and enjoy life’s little moments, Netta is your girl!

No, not the fruit—but she is just as sweet and guaranteed to make you smile! This goofy girl loves playing with her favorite toys. Disks are her jam, and—if she feels like it—she might even bring them back. She’s still deciding if returning the ball is truly necessary (we respect her creative process).Banana is the life of the party; she knows when to play hard and when to just chill out. Don’t get it twisted, though—she’ll still politely demand her signature butt scratches (that’s her favorite spot). She’s a total people pleaser with a heart as golden as her name. Banana also knows sit and shake.Come meet this lovable goofball today and see why everyone’s shouting, “Baaanaaanaa!” when they meet her!Find more pictures of Bananaaaaaaa here: https://tinyurl.com/AdoptableBanana

Story
Meet Cane! With his striking black-and-white coat and expressive personality, Cane is a dog who is sure to turn heads wherever he goes. Just as handsome as he is sweet, Cane loves spending time with people and thrives on attention from his human and canine friends. Cane is an affectionate dog who enjoys leaning in for pets, resting his paws in laps, and soaking up all the love he can get. If you stop petting him, don`t be surprised if he comes back for more. Cane also has a playful side and enjoys interacting with toys. He enjoys treats, engaging with his handlers, and happily participates in games and enrichment activities. Like any young dog, Cane is still discovering the world. He`s already conquered car rides and stairs, and he`s learning that new experiences aren`t so scary with a little encouragement, plenty of praise, and a few tasty treats. When it comes to other dogs, Cane has shown himself to be social and playful. He enjoys interactive play, especially with dogs whose play style matches his own. During playgroups, he engaged in appropriate play, responded well to feedback from other dogs, and continued seeking positive interactions. If you`re searching for a handsome companion with eye-catching markings, a playful spirit, and plenty of affection to give, Cane may be the perfect addition to your family. Story
We adopted Bella from North Carolina. She was removed from her home because her previous owners were using her to have babies. When we got her, she was very shy, and she would not play. Today she is the sweetest girl you can ever meet; she loves walks and loves to chase squirrels and ducks. She is potty trained. I would love to keep her; unfortunately, where we live, we cannot keep her. She needs a place where she can run and play.

Story
ADOPT ACOYEE! Acoyee is a mature and wise man. At 8 years of age, he's technically a senior who knows a thing or two about life, but still got the spunk in his steps! This 65lbs happy pup is affectionate and loves his scratches. He turns and leans into your body to show and receive the love he craves. His foster described him as a super chill pup who is content to nap while you're doing stuff around the house. He is a great walker and loves to go on walks, but he is a bit reactive on the leash to other dogs and wildlife. He is perfectly potty trained, not a fan of the crate, and LOVES to learn new tricks. He knows the basics like sit, paw and speak. And he also knows some advanced things like going to fetch his leash when it's time for a walk! He loves to pull toys for a good game of tug of war. Stuffed toys won't last very long with him, he likes to tear them apart. The cattle dog in him is FIERCELY loyal. Like most cattle dogs, he certainly has a good amount of stranger danger. But once you take some time to earn his trust and you're in his circle of trust, he will be your best friend for life. He will do best in a quiet home in a quiet area without a lot of comings and goings, with a fenced in yard, and without another dog. If you live in DC/MD/NoVa and wish to ask Acoyee to join your family, please fill out an application for him on our website to begin the process: https://forms.gle/GYHWGHiHCbxqZJae6

Story
Piper's story is one of perseverance, resilience, and love. Piper was found on NC, and entered the shelter from a hoarding situation, totally terrified and emaciated. Her skin was awful with mange and she was facing certain euthanasia as no one would even give her a second look. Over the course of her them in foster care, she has gained confidence and started to be more outgoing. Piper is approximately two years old, 45lbs. She has all the qualities of a fantastic family dog. She is affectionate, loving, and gentle. While she generally appears poised, she does have a silly side and can run like a bullet in circles or flop down on the grass for a good back scratch. She LOVES children and is good with other dogs. She is also a great yoga partner and will downward dog right next to you as you do your morning stretches. As much progress as Piper has made, there are still moments of her past that haunt her. Sudden loud noises are still very scary for her. She improves with time and patience, but will do best in a home situated in a quiet neighborhood. A busy city setting will be quite hard on her tender little heart. She we also believe she would do best in a home with another confident resident dog to show her the ropes and help her build confidence. She is already potty trained and crate trained, though she has not needed a crate for ages now because she is such a well behaved girl! If you live in the MD/NoVa/DC and would like to add a charming snuggle best friend and a loyal companion to your home, please fill out an application for Piper below: https://forms.gle/FdB3M8Z7eXbMhRqq8
