Story
Dilly Update! Our sweet little Dill Pickle (Dilly) is now into her 6-week recovery after surgery to repair her broken leg, and we’re happy to report she’s doing well! She’s been taking it easy, getting lots of rest, plenty of love from her foster family, and following strict activity restrictions so her leg can heal properly. She’s been such a brave little girl through it all. While we’re thrilled with how she’s doing, we really need donations. If you’re able, we’d be so grateful for a donation to help offset Dilly’s surgery and recovery expenses. Every dollar helps us continue saying “yes” to dogs who need us most. Donate toward Dilly’s medical care: https://4pawsnj.org/savedilly Send Dilly a gift from her wishlist: https://4pawsnj.org/dilly Thank you to everyone who has supported this sweet little girl. We can’t wait to continue sharing her recovery journey with you!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Tank is a 3-year-old, slightly under 40 lbs, boxer mix that was found as a stray during his initial stay at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter. His original owners reclaimed him only to return him and his littermate at a later date for reasons not related to Tank. He was then adopted a second time just a few days later, only to be returned due to “guarding his food bowl from their five resident cats”.   When Tank was at the shelter, he shook terribly and would hide in the outer parts of the kennel, hardly being noticed and full of fear and stress. His chances were very slim, so he was pulled by his volunteer buddy.   Tank was pulled into a loving foster home in November 19, and has had time to decompress and shine! He has shown zero guarding concerns towards foster, and is respectful towards small critters (ferrets and guinea pigs in the home). They are not loose in his presence, but he goes over to their habitats, is friendly and respectful of them, and wags his tail.    Tank is not housebroken; he is working hard at it and has improved, but even the vet believes it is 2 and a half years of learned behavior, where he was never taught, so now we are breaking old habits that are instilled in him. He wears washable belly bands that work as diapers for his urine as needed, or when home we just frequently observe and let him out to potty.    Tank is dog selective, and lived in a home with cats prior. However, must go to a home that is savvy and can allow safe separation for cats and eating times. Tank is very kid friendly to respectful children, and does well with women and men. He walks well on a leash, is crate trained, and has learned commands such as “kennel up”, sit and shake. Tank is a complete LOVER, loves to be wrapped up under a blanket laying with his family. If you want a snuggler, Tank is 100% down for that!!    He loves he benebones, cheek rolls and toys so very much, and although he loves the big back yard so much, he prefers hanging out inside, snuggling to watch a show, and chewing a bone with his friends. He gets the zoomies, loves fetch and then is ready to come inside. As a very anxious pup, Tank has overcome so much at such a young age, and his foster family will foster him for as long as it takes to find him his PERFECT match!!    Now with SJR as of late March, we are looking for someone who either works from home, is retired or simply home more times than not, in a quiet home. Tank loves companionship!! He also will thrive with a family who can continually take him out to potty and be understanding and patient. He is a certified foodie, loves snacks and thrives on structure and routine.    He needs a family that will love him unconditionally and not give up on him. Tank really is a genuine sweetheart and loves all of the friends we introduce him to!!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 18, 2026, 9:10 pm

Story
I got Sasha for my 17th birthday after not having any dogs for a few years. She came from a shelter and they had said she had just come in the day before I went to look for a dog. She's about 6 years old now. I'm not really sure when her exact birth date is but I just decided it was July 23rd. She's a HUGE cuddle bug. She thinks she's a lap dog, and I've definitely spoiled her so it's kind of implanted in her that she can just lay on your lap or climb up to your face to give you kisses. I've never seen any sort of aggression with any other people, besides being scared of tall men and men with deep voices but she warms up quickly. I'd like someone that'd give her the proper time and attention she needs. I work 2 jobs, and I'll be moving soon so I unfortunately won't be able to take her with me. She needs someone who'd house train her, since she's not. She knows a few tricks, like sit, spin, and jump. I'd like to keep her til October 8th. That's when I'll be moving. She's a great dog.

Story
Chango was originally someone else's and his name was Choppa. He was their pandemic puppy, born on May 20, 2020. Around the time other people were getting rid of their pandemic puppies, Chango was put up on Craigslist in January 2021 for free.Chango is very affectionate and is the best cuddle buddy. However, he is also very scared and can be aggressive when frightened. He has never bitten anyone, but a scared dog can bite.He is very smart and stubborn. He knows the rules but will break them unless supervised or on a leash. He lives with two other dogs and a cat. He must be on trazodone when introduced to new dogs, but once acclimated, he is fine without the medication.Chango is very good with children and never shows aggression or growls. However, he may try to dominate anyone, so he should not be left alone with young children who cannot push him off if he tries to mount them.

Story
Dizzy's Story Meet Dizzy! This handsome young adult came to the shelter as a stray and is more than ready to find a family to call his own. Dizzy is a friendly, affectionate boy who loves meeting new people and enjoys soaking up all the attention he can get. At around 50 pounds, he's an energetic pup who is always up for an adventure. He'll thrive with an active family that can give him plenty of exercise, playtime, and continued training. Because Dizzy prefers having all the attention to himself, he's looking for a home where he'll be the only pet—no dogs or cats, please! He could also use some work on his leash manners, as he gets excited and pulls hard during walks. With consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement, he'll make a wonderful walking companion. If you're looking for a loyal, fun-loving best friend who's ready to leave shelter life behind and start his next chapter, Dizzy is waiting to meet you! Please apply for Dizzy at https://www.gloucestercountynj.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Shelter-5/PreAdoption-Application-50

Story
Mamma's Story Meet Mamma! This beautiful 2-year-old black-and-white Pit Bull came to the shelter as a stray and is now ready to leave her past behind for a loving forever home. Weighing in at about 64 pounds, Mamma is a strong girl who can pull on the leash, so she'll do best with someone who can continue working on her leash manners. Despite her strength, Mamma has a sweet and playful personality. She loves having fun, enjoys spending time with people, and is always ready for a game or adventure. She has tested well with other dogs and could be a wonderful canine companion with proper introductions. She may be a little too interested in cats, so a cat-free home is recommended. If you're looking for a loving, playful best friend with a big heart and an even bigger smile, Mamma might be the perfect match. Come meet this wonderful girl and see if she's the missing piece of your family! Please apply for Mamma at https://www.gloucestercountynj.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Shelter-5/PreAdoption-Application-50
