Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Tank is a 3-year-old, slightly under 40 lbs, boxer mix that was found as a stray during his initial stay at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter. His original owners reclaimed him only to return him and his littermate at a later date for reasons not related to Tank. He was then adopted a second time just a few days later, only to be returned due to “guarding his food bowl from their five resident cats”.   When Tank was at the shelter, he shook terribly and would hide in the outer parts of the kennel, hardly being noticed and full of fear and stress. His chances were very slim, so he was pulled by his volunteer buddy.   Tank was pulled into a loving foster home in November 19, and has had time to decompress and shine! He has shown zero guarding concerns towards foster, and is respectful towards small critters (ferrets and guinea pigs in the home). They are not loose in his presence, but he goes over to their habitats, is friendly and respectful of them, and wags his tail.    Tank is not housebroken; he is working hard at it and has improved, but even the vet believes it is 2 and a half years of learned behavior, where he was never taught, so now we are breaking old habits that are instilled in him. He wears washable belly bands that work as diapers for his urine as needed, or when home we just frequently observe and let him out to potty.    Tank is dog selective, and lived in a home with cats prior. However, must go to a home that is savvy and can allow safe separation for cats and eating times. Tank is very kid friendly to respectful children, and does well with women and men. He walks well on a leash, is crate trained, and has learned commands such as “kennel up”, sit and shake. Tank is a complete LOVER, loves to be wrapped up under a blanket laying with his family. If you want a snuggler, Tank is 100% down for that!!    He loves he benebones, cheek rolls and toys so very much, and although he loves the big back yard so much, he prefers hanging out inside, snuggling to watch a show, and chewing a bone with his friends. He gets the zoomies, loves fetch and then is ready to come inside. As a very anxious pup, Tank has overcome so much at such a young age, and his foster family will foster him for as long as it takes to find him his PERFECT match!!    Now with SJR as of late March, we are looking for someone who either works from home, is retired or simply home more times than not, in a quiet home. Tank loves companionship!! He also will thrive with a family who can continually take him out to potty and be understanding and patient. He is a certified foodie, loves snacks and thrives on structure and routine.    He needs a family that will love him unconditionally and not give up on him. Tank really is a genuine sweetheart and loves all of the friends we introduce him to!!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 17, 2026, 7:25 am

Story
WARNING - Heartbreaking story with a happy ending! Pecan's story is one no puppy should ever have to live through. He and his brother and sister were dumped in a busy neighborhood in Puerto Rico and left to survive completely on their own. For nearly a month, the three puppies wandered the streets searching for scraps of food, only to be chased away and shooed from homes and businesses wherever they went. Their future looked bleak until one compassionate stranger reached out to rescue with an urgent message: "Come pick them up, or I'm bringing them to be euthanized." Thankfully, rescue stepped in just in time. Today, Pecan is safe, fully vetted, and thriving in his foster home in the States. While he's still a little shy when meeting new people, it doesn't take long for his sweet personality to shine through. Once he knows he's safe, he absolutely melts into pets, cuddles, and affection. He loves being loved and happily leans in for every scratch and belly rub he can get. Pecan is wonderful with other dogs and especially adores children. Watching him play with his canine friends or gently soak up attention from kids is a reminder of just how forgiving dogs can be, despite everything they've been through. He's a gentle, loving boy who simply wants to be part of a family. After surviving abandonment and weeks of uncertainty, Pecan is finally getting a taste of the good life. Now he's just waiting for one thing left—a forever family who will show him that he'll never have to wonder where his next meal, cuddle, or safe place to sleep will come from again.

Story
Meet Sweet Mama Moosh! For years, Sweet Mama Moosh has known what it means to survive—but not what it feels like to truly belong. This beautiful 4-5 year old girl spent her life on the streets, where neighbors watched her lovingly raise at least two litters of puppies. While she made sure her babies were safe, no one was there to make sure she was. She endured hunger, uncertainty, and even an injured paw, yet somehow never lost her gentle, loving heart. When we trapped her, the plan was simply to spay her and return her to the streets. But after spending time with her, we knew we couldn't do it. Sweet Mama Moosh is far too affectionate, trusting, and deserving of love to spend another day wondering where she'll sleep or if she'll have enough to eat. She has fought to survive long enough. Now it's her turn to be cared for. Today, her paw has completely healed, and she has blossomed into a happy, healthy, beautiful girl who is finally ready for the life she's always deserved. She is currently being fostered in Puerto Rico and is now spayed, vaccinated, up to date on preventatives, potty trained and crate trained! Such an amazing girl!! She adores gentle pets, leisurely walks, and never says no to a tasty snack. 🥹 She has lived alongside other dogs on the streets. While she'll politely correct a dog that gets too pushy, she has otherwise done well around other dogs. Right now, Sweet Mama Moosh needs someone willing to open their heart and home—whether that's through fostering, foster-to-adopt, or giving her the forever family she's never had. If you've ever thought about changing a dog's life, this is your chance. Sweet Mama Moosh has spent years giving everything she had to survive and to care for others. Now she's simply asking for someone to choose her. Please help us give this sweet girl the ending she's waited her whole life for. ❤️

Story
Jojo is being fostered in Illinois. Has some vision.Hi. My name is Jojo. I am a 4-year-old boxer mix. I like to think of myself as a playful happy-go-lucky gal. I may not see you well because close objects are like shadows and a little blurry to me, but I know you are there. I get along well with all the cats and dogs in my foster home. I like cats (see https://youtu.be/t_3b0r0n9LY ). But I may need slow introductions with little feisty dogs. But I would love to go to a home that has many friendly 4-legged buddies.I like to be active and meet people and other dogs (see https://youtu.be/9LG4Cy9_kJI ). However, I am not too good with children because a lot of time kids either approach me too fast or gather around me, which makes me so scared that I have to give a warning snap. But I do love my walks. Even more, I love an open field that I can have all to myself so I can let out a lot of my energy (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nWkm8OssZU ). At home, I like to relax and sit at my spot while my foster daddy is doing his work. Everyday, I get to be petted and it makes me feel loved (see https://youtu.be/Y_-7FDicj-M ).I am housebroken. However, every once in a while, I have accidents because anxiety gets the best of me when I realize my foster dad has not been home for a while. I will do well in a home where someone is present 90-95 percent of time, perhaps with someone who works out of home or is an active retired person.Blind Dog Rescue has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Calla 's Story Meet Calla 💙🤍 Calla is a beautiful blue-and-white, four-year-old Pitbull with a gentle soul and a heart that just needs a little time to feel safe. She arrived at the shelter as a stray, and while new situations can be a bit overwhelming for her at first, patience and kindness go a long way with this sweet girl. Calla tends to warm up more quickly to women, but once she trusts you, her loyal and loving nature really shines. Calla is a big fan of her toys and isn’t shy about letting you know how she feels about them—she can get a little vocal and possessive, so she’ll do best in a child free home and with someone who understands and can help manage her enthusiasm. She does well with other dogs and may enjoy a canine companion, but cats are a bit too scary for her, so a cat-free home is best. Looking for a calm, understanding home where she can settle in at her own pace, Calla would make a wonderful companion for someone ready to give this sweet girl the love and stability she deserves. In return, she’ll offer quiet devotion and plenty of personality. 🐾 Please apply for Calla at https://www.gloucestercountynj.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Shelter-5/PreAdoption-Application-50

Story
Paris's Story 🌸 Meet Paris 🌸 This stunning 3-year-old Old English Bulldog mix has been with us since 6/26, and what a journey she’s had. Paris was returned once for being “growly,” but we’re happy to share — that’s not the whole story. Since leaving that situation, Paris has been showing up beautifully. Paris spent most of her life living outdoors. Adjusting to indoor life has been a big transition, but with time, patience, and a loving foster home, she has truly started to shine. Watching her learn what it means to feel safe inside a home has been incredible. 💛 What We’ve Learned in Foster: • She prefers women — she bonds more quickly and seems to feel safest with them. • She needs to be the only pet in the home. • She is crate trained when left alone. Paris is looking for an experienced dog owner — not a first-time home — who understands decompression, structure, and slow introductions. Dogs who grow up outdoors often need patience and guidance to fully adjust to home life. With the right leadership and consistency, they flourish… and Paris is well on her way. She doesn’t need perfection — she needs understanding. She doesn’t need instant trust — she needs someone willing to earn it. And once you do? Her loyalty is something special. 🐾 We are now accepting applications for Paris. If you believe in second chances and have the experience to help her continue thriving, she may be the perfect match for you. Apply today to meet this resilient, beautiful girl at https://www.gloucestercountynj.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Shelter-5/PreAdoption-Application-

Story
Caspen's Story Meet Caspen 💙 Caspen is a 4-year-old grey and white Pitbull weighing in at about 55 pounds of pure sweetness. This handsome boy came to us as a stray, and while we don’t know much about his past, we can already see what a gentle soul he is. Caspen is a sweet, loving boy who can be a little timid at first. New environments and sudden changes can make him unsure, but with a little patience and kindness, his affectionate personality starts to shine through. He’s the kind of dog who just needs someone to show him that the world can be a safe and happy place. On leash, Caspen doesn’t pull — he’s very polite in that way! He does, however, like to zigzag and take in all the sights and smells, so his walks are more of a curious adventure than a straight-line stroll. It’s all part of his charm. We’ve learned that Caspen is afraid of cats, so a feline-free home would be best for him. At this time, we’re still unsure how he does with other dogs. Caspen is ready for a fresh start with a patient, loving family who will help build his confidence and let him blossom into the amazing companion we know he can be. We are now accepting applications for Caspen — and we can’t wait to help him find the forever home he deserves. 🐾 Please apply for Caspen at https://www.gloucestercountynj.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Shelter-5/PreAdoption-Application-50
