Story
Snowcone (ACCT-A-244639) arrived at ACCT Philly on March 6th after police discovered him and two other dogs tied up inside an abandoned home. Despite this difficult start, Snowcone has shown himself to be a resilient and affectionate young dog who is eager to connect with people and soak up attention.
Since arriving at the shelter, Snowcone has consistently demonstrated a loving and people-oriented personality. He happily leans into pets, greets handlers with soft eyes and wiggly energy, and takes treats gently. Volunteers describe him as a “lover” who enjoys being close to his person and will enthusiastically jump up to say hello. Snowcone is still learning some basics like responding to cues and playing with toys—he seems a bit unfamiliar with games like fetch and even flinched when a ball was thrown, suggesting he may not have had much experience with play before arriving. Even so, he shows curiosity and interest and may blossom with patient guidance and positive reinforcement.
Snowcone has also shown encouraging social behavior with other dogs. Through the fence and in playgroup assessments, he has displayed loose body language, friendly greetings, and interest in meeting canine companions. While he can pull on leash when other dogs are nearby due to excitement, he has been steerable and warms up quickly after initial tension. During a recent day trip, he reportedly did very well, greeting strangers on walks with loose, wiggly tail wags and friendly enthusiasm. Snowcone also already knows how to give both paws, showing that he is a smart boy who enjoys interacting with people and learning new things.
Overall, Snowcone is a sweet, affectionate dog who seems ready for a fresh start in a loving home where he can continue to build confidence, learn new skills, and enjoy the stability he deserves.
