Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi!  My name is  Minerva  and I may look grumpy, but I’m a very lucky girl.  The Cat Cove found me limping around a shopping center parking lot with a badly injured foot.  I was very scared, so it took them  several weeks  to catch me, but I love food and they finally lured me close enough to grab me and take me to the vet.  The vet said that all the bones in my foot had been crushed  and  fused together  but   I’m  not a good candidate for amputation because of my age  (10 years young)  and arthritis.  I also had a severe ear infection in both  ears  so I was completely deaf —a very dangerous predicament for an outdoor kitty!  I was very cooperative for my ear medicine and got lots and lots of treats!  My hearing has come back a little bit— now  I can hear very loud and sharp noises, but  I still sleep through softer sounds (but maybe  I’m  fooling my foster mommy and am just ignoring her!)  I get a monthly pain injection for my leg and get around very  well ,  but  napping  ( and eating !)   are  my favorite pastime s .  I have a little set of kitty stairs to climb up on the bed to my favorite perch where I watch  over the household  and squawk at  everyone who walks down the hall.  I am still a little bit afraid of new things, but I love to be petted and I give  excellent head bonks!  I like the other kitties in my foster home—I always try to go be friendly with them, but they  aren’t  very nice to me.  I’m  looking for a special home of my very own .  Could it be with you? Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  Prior to adoption, all cats have the following services: Spay or Neuter 3 in 1 Vaccination De-wormed Treated for fleas Tested for FIV/FELV Micro-Chipped $175 for 1 or $300 for a pair  Upon adoption you will receive coupons from Petsmart for various items to help get you started with your new cat.  All adoptions require an application, contract and adoption fee.    Link to our online adoption application. http://www.thecatcove.com/adoption-application.html Meet and Greets and Adoptions will take place at one of our Long Beach Petsmart adoption centers by appointment only while we are Social Distancing. Appointments can not be made until we have a completed adoption application   We are a non profit 501(c)3 all volunteer no kill rescue.   All donations go directly to the cats medical bills, food, litter, toys and any other needs they have. All volunteers are non-paid; every penny goes directly to the cats.   For questions please contact us at catcoverescue@gmail.com or visit our website at http://thecatcove.com   A phone number is not listed for our organization because all adoption transactions are taken care via email until we receive a completed adoption application.    June 3, 2023, 2:01 pm

Story
Hi, I’m Yael. I was rescued from a Seal Beach alley with my three kittens a few years ago. What a relief it was to get off the street into a safe place. I was not used to being around people and I still don’t allow people to approach me but I don’t hide as much as I used to and no longer run for my life when someone enters my room at SBACC. I enjoy the company of other cats and am comfortable here. I wouldn’t mind living out my years where I’m loved and cared for by a wonderful team of volunteers and staff.  Maybe if the right person came along, I could adjust to a new home, but SBACC feels like home. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
When her previous family moved, they forgot something: Dixie. Dixie, a senior female cat, was found outside an abandoned home living in the bushes. AALOC took her in to care for her until she finds a new loving and caring family. Calico actually is not a breed, rather it is considered a specific color variation. Although orange, black, and white are the most common calico colors, some calico cats may also have cream, bluish-black, red, or chocolate brown in their coats, too. Because of this you will find an American shorthair, Persian, Maine coon, and Cornish Rex, among others that are also considered a calico cat. In addition, you cannot breed a calico cat, rather nature produces these beautiful felines randomly. And because the breed may vary, calico cats cannot be described with a single personality portrait – instead the breed will often dictate that. One thing is 99.9% certain though – if you have a calico cat it is female. A male calico is extremely rare. We believe Dixie is a domestic shorthair with calico colorings. Although the personality of a shorthair cat is normally friendly and outgoing, Dixie is somewhat aloof. Domestic shorthair cats are generally not very vocal, clean and have a mild mannered temperament. Please submit an application to adopt Dixie on our website at www.aaloc.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Dixie during visiting hours (10am to 3pm daily) and get to know her a bit. Donation of $100 for cat adoption includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and a microchip. Applications require a veterinary reference and home visit (in Orange County, CA). Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
A senior couple could no longer care for their three cats and surrendered them to AALOC. One of these is Sunshine. This domestic shorthair cat is timid at first but with a little bit of patience she comes around easily. Once you build a bit of trust with Sunshine she is very friendly, loves attention and will follow you around curious about the things you are doing. Sunshine also enjoys food – this is not a picky eater cat but does need medication for arthritis. Sunshine has been at AALOC for several years and really needs to spend her senior years in a home. Because of her colorings - blue/gray and tan patches on a white/cream fur background – we believe Sunshine is a dilute calico cat. Although dilute calico cats are not extremely rare, it is more difficult to find one than a standard calico with black and red patches on a white fur background. Please submit an application to adopt Sunshine on our website at www.aaloc.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Sunshine and get to know her a bit. Donation of $100 for cat adoption includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and a microchip. Applications require a veterinary reference and home visit (in Orange County, CA). For more information on adoption policies visit our homepage at www.aaloc.org. Contact us by e-mail: aaloc@aaloc.org, or by phone (714)893-4393.
