Story

Bowie is a sweet stray that we discovered in our neighborhood. She was skin and bones so we kept leaving food out for her until she trusted us enough to pet her. By that time we found she was pregnant. Once we gained her trust she came inside and gave birth to five cute kittens; we've been able to successfully find homes for all of them! Bowie likes to be pet and purrs like crazy. As you can see from the pics she's got beautiful striking eyes. She also has a kinked tail (we thought she was injured when she was little until one of her kittens showed the same kink in the same spot!) We believe she's about a year and a half old. She's a petite cat - about 6 pounds. Update: Bowie was spayed 6/9/25 and received vaccinations and a rabies shot. Blood work was done and she is very healthy. (copies will be provided) As part of the wellness package that was purchased she still has two transferrable vet visits remaining.

Two young women approached the AALOC front door and rang the doorbell. With only one team member working that afternoon handling all the animals’ needs she was unable to respond immediately. When no one answered quickly enough the two women left the box with five precious female kittens and drove away. We are currently maxed out on space but how can you turn your back on these sweet little babies that no one cares about? We named these adorable, female cats after perfumes. If you’ve ever owned a cat, you know healthy cats smell delicious. They constantly groom themselves to keep their fur clean. Cats also use smell as their primary sense for identifying people and objects. Felines have over 200 million odor sensors in their nose. Compare this to humans who have a mere five million. Cats can smell more than 14 times better than we can so always be conscious of the smell of scented litter, candles or other items/people that might upset your cat. Besides, we think Estee, Chanel, Prada, Gucci and Tabu are very upscale cats. And we know they all need and deserve great forever homes. It was the very worst time to be abandoned: Momma cat Lily was pregnant and ready to give birth. Luckily, she was brought to AALOC and gave birth to her precious litter of four kittens, one male and three females, in the safety of our shelter. Born just before Easter Sunday, the male was named Peter and the females Cadbury, Jellybean and Peep. Jellybean is a calico feline just like her mom Lily. This little orange, white and black fuzz ball is the cutest kitten ever, and only has competition from her two sisters, Cadbury and Peep, and her brother Peter. She is all kitten – friendly, playful and outrageously precocious. Leave her contained in an area and she is all about devising a plan to escape. Jellybean is a smart little monkey too! Please submit an application to adopt Jellybean and perhaps one of her siblings too at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved, we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Jellybean and get to know her a bit.
