Story
Meet Cola! Cola is a female kitten, that was born in her foster home with her sister – Coconut. Their pregnant mother, Momma Kat, was pulled from Madison Heights Animal Control on April 24th, 2025. Cola and Coconut were born on May 9th, 2025. Cola, her sister, and Momma Kat are available for adoption and hoping to find their forever home. Cola is fostered with 3 resident young cats and 3 senior Chihuahua’s. She likes to pounce on you to lick the water off your legs after you get out of the shower. She can be found sleeping in random spots, likes to snuggle in fresh clean clothes out of the dryer or relaxing with her momma or siblings. Cola and her brother Oreo look the same with black/charcoal coloring with white chest. Cola will do great with cat friendly dogs and other cats or be with one of her siblings. Adoption fees are $150 for a single kitten or cat. The adoption includes spay or neuter, age-appropriate vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment. Story
Meet Faith – Your Playful, Chatty Sidekick! Hi, I’m Faith! I was rescued from the euthanasia list at a local shelter (thankfully!), and now I’m on a mission to find my forever family. I’m beyond grateful for my foster mom, who has helped me blossom into the fun, energetic, and loving girl I am today. I’m a super chatty kitty who loves to have full-on conversations with my humans—my adorable chirps will melt your heart! I’m playful, curious, and always on the move. I have major kitten energy, so I’ll keep you entertained with my zoomies, playful "ambushes" (I’ll gently paw at your legs when you least expect it—gotcha!), and love for all things catnip. If it's on the floor, it’s my new favorite toy! I love being around people but can also keep myself busy with toys. I’d be happy as an only cat, but I also get along with other kitties as long as we have slow introductions. My foster cat siblings prefer naps, but I’d love a friend who enjoys playtime as much as I do! I’ve also been told my markings are super unique, giving me an extra cool look—and I have to admit, I rock a bowtie pretty well! Because I can get overstimulated and have an independent streak, I’d do best in a home without kids. I need a family who understands my playful and sometimes sassy personality and will give me space when I need it. I have a sneaky suspicion that my forever family is just around the corner—could it be you? Let’s meet and find out! Faith is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org. Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.

Story
Meet Mister Mustache – A Distinguished Gentleman with a Big Heart Mister Mustache is a truly special soul—a dapper, long-haired gentleman with a one-of-a-kind look and personality to match. With his striking mustache markings, charming meow, and impressive resilience, he’s sure to steal your heart. This sophisticated tripod has adapted beautifully to life with three legs. Despite his front-left amputation, Mister Mustache navigates his world with confidence and grace. He’s also FIV+, but remains in great health and continues to thrive in his loving foster home. Mister Mustache is a cat who values trust and connection. Once you've earned a place in his heart, expect tender interactions, soft meows of conversation, and gentle nudges asking for chin rubs and ear scratches. He even enjoys having his luxurious fur brushed—turning grooming time into bonding time. He’s also blossoming into a furniture companion, often lounging nearby and occasionally testing the waters of lap life. His communication is crystal clear: when he's had enough pets or play, he might give a gentle warning nip to let you know. For that reason, he’s best suited to an experienced cat guardian who understands feline body language and boundaries. Mister Mustache prefers the quiet life—he’s not looking for feline roommates and would do best as the only cat. A calm dog might be a fit, but what he truly wants is a home where he can feel safe, understood, and adored. His favorite treats? Freeze-dried minnows and duck! His favorite habit? Hiding when nervous—but meowing for permission to rejoin you, tail swishing with curiosity. If you’re ready to open your home to a cat with depth, dignity, and a whole lot of love to give, Mister Mustache is waiting to meet his person. Let him charm you—with one paw, three legs, and an unforgettable heart. Mister Mustache is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting him, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.

Story
Lap Cat Alert! Meet Shawnee – Your Personal Blanket with a Purr Looking for a mellow, loving companion who’s equal parts cat and cozy throw blanket? Say hello to Shawnee, a two-year-old sweetheart with the soul of a wise old lady wrapped in a young cat’s body. Shawnee was rescued from a hoarding situation, but you’d never guess it—she’s bounced back with grace and is now all about the simple joys: soft beds, warm sunbeams, and quiet cuddles. This gentle girl has a soft, soothing purr and a charming little voice—she’s always ready for a friendly chat and some good company. Her foster mom says it best: “She’s an easy foster—so sweet. You sit down and she comes right over, ready for snuggles and love.” Whether you're working from home or winding down with a book, Shawnee is the ultimate lap cat—always ready to settle in and stay close. Shawnee is FIV+, but don’t let that intimidate you. It doesn’t require medication or special care—it just means her immune system needs a little extra love. As an indoor cat, she’s at low risk and ready to live a full, happy life. If your perfect day includes a warm cuddle buddy, quiet companionship, and the occasional cat conversation, Shawnee is your girl. Bring her home and discover the joy of a soft, steady presence in your life. Shawnee is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org. Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens.
