Story
Hi there… I’m Boss Man!
And yes, I know, I’m very, very adorable. You can tell just by looking at me. I didn’t always live the good life. I came to the sanctuary as part of the “Glencoe” cats, after spending my days outside fighting for food and shelter. When I first arrived, I was pretty scared… and honestly, I wasn’t impressed with the humans at all. I even earned my name by being the Boss of the ISO room, telling everyone to go away and mind their business! But guess what? Humans grew on me. Turns out they’re pretty great. They give pets (which feel amazing), lots of love, and, most importantly, tasty lickable treats. Those treats were the key to my heart, and they’ll be the key to helping me feel comfortable in my new home too. I’ll need a family who understands that I’ll hide at first and take some time to adjust. Please be patient with me, once I trust you, you’ll see what a sweet, loving guy I really am. I absolutely love other cats. Snuggling with them, playing with them, sharing cozy naps… a feline friend is a must for me. I’m playful, always zooming around with toys, and I especially go wild for catnip bananas and catnip toys. Pure joy. These days, I even enjoy greeting visitors, especially if they come bearing treats. From tough outdoor boss to luxury-loving sweetheart, I’ve come a long way. If you think you could be my patient, loving forever human, come meet me. You can visit me daily from 1–5pm… I’ll be the adorable guy waiting for treats and pets. I have excellent litter box habits. My new perfect family NEEDS to understand that it WILL take me a while to adjust at first and I WILL hide as I settle in. Give me time, patience, and use food as a tool to get me out of my shell — I really am a wonderful cat. I am fully vetted: neutered, microchipped, FIV & FeLV negative, treated for fleas/ticks/and intestinal parasites, and up-to-date on all my vaccinations. I even had a dental recently, so all my teeth are clean. I require an indoor-only home and, as with all cats — absolutely no declawing. Story
Hi… I’m Cupcake. Yes, the Cupcake! I’m a beautifully plump senior brown tabby with a personality that keeps life interesting. One minute I’m sweet as frosting, the next I’ve got a little spice… okay, maybe a lot. I’m hot, I’m cold, I’m up, I’m down… but that’s what makes me unforgettable. Mornings are my thing. I’ll come right up to you, meowing (very cutely, I might add) and asking for attention like the queen I am. I love my pets, my head scratches, and I’ll even rub up against your legs to remind you I’m there. But don’t get too confident… I’m also a diva, and sometimes I prefer admiration from a respectful distance. Love me on my terms, and we’ll get along just fine. I didn’t always feel this confident. When I first arrived, I was scared and unsure of people. But with time, patience, love… and yes, plenty of food… I’ve come out of my shell. I still need someone who understands that I’ll take a little time to adjust in a new home. I might hide at first, but give me space and I promise I’m worth the wait. A few fun facts about me: • I have no teeth… but don’t let that fool you… I crunch my food like a pro. • I love being brushed (when I’m in the mood, of course). • Cozy beds, sunshine naps, and catnip are my absolute favorites. • I get along well rubbing up against other cats… I just like doing things my way. So if you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind companion with a little sass, a lot of charm, and a heart that shines through once you earn it… I might just be your girl. Come meet me between 1–5pm. I’ll be the fabulous one waiting for you. My new perfect family NEEDS to understand that it WILL take me a while to adjust at first and I WILL hide as I settle in. Give me time, patience, and use food as a tool to get me out of my shell — I really am a wonderful cat. I am fully vetted: spayed, microchipped, FIV & FeLV negative, treated for fleas/ticks/and intestinal parasites, and up-to-date on all my vaccinations: distemper, rabies, and FeLV. I require an indoor-only home and, as with all cats — absolutely no declawing. If you are interested in adopting Cupcake, please come visit… we are open daily from 1-5pm (including holidays)… we need to meet you in person! Story
Hello… my name is Felicity. Some people say my coat looks like a little masterpiece. I’m kind of like a dilute tortie… but with extra splashes and swirls mixed in, like an artist couldn’t decide when to stop painting. I like to think it makes me one of a kind. My story didn’t start out so pretty though. I came from a large outdoor colony called the Glencoe cats. Life out there was hard. There wasn’t anyone making sure we had food, warm beds, or safe places to sleep. Every day was a struggle to survive. We fought for meals, braved the cold weather, and tried our best to stay safe. By the time I was live trapped and brought to the sanctuary, my body had many wounds and I was very tired. But then something wonderful happened. The Furball team and their amazing veterinarian took care of me. They cleaned my wounds, gave me the TLC I desperately needed, and for the first time in a long time… I felt safe. I’ll be honest though, I didn’t trust humans right away. It took a lot of food, patience, time, and love before I realized they were my friends. Because of that, my new family will need to understand something important about me:
I will be scared at first. I will hide while I figure things out. My transition into your home won’t happen overnight. But I promise you… I am worth the wait. Once I feel safe, I’m a very sweet girl. I love gentle head scratches, especially when I’m all cozy and sleepy. I adore basking in the sunshine, rolling in catnip, and getting the zoomies while playing and scratching on cat posts. I’m also a pretty clever girl. At the sanctuary we have treat dispensers, and I’ve learned exactly where they are. You’ll often find me hanging out nearby… patiently waiting and watching in hopes that someone will press the button and send treats my way. It’s one of my favorite pastimes! Oh… and I’m a huge fan of visitors, especially the kind who bring lickable treats. Those are my weakness. I also absolutely love other cats. Snuggling up with a feline friend on a warm heating pad is one of my favorite things in the world, so I would do best in a home with another kitty companion. And just so you know, I recently had a dental, so my teeth are now sparkling clean and ready for snack time. If you think you might be the patient, loving family who will give a shy girl like me the time she deserves, I would love to meet you. You can come visit me every day from 1–5 PM. Maybe you’ll be the one I’ve been waiting for. Story
Hey… Loki here! Yeah, that Loki. The big, handsome gray tabby you might’ve heard about. I didn’t always look this good though… or feel this safe. I came here as a feral cat, which is just a fancy way of saying I didn’t trust humans at all. Everything was scary. Every sound, every movement… I kept my distance and made it very clear I wasn’t interested in making friends. But the humans here didn’t give up on me. They showed me something I hadn’t really known before… patience, kindness… and, okay, a lot of food. Slowly but surely, I started to realize maybe people aren’t so bad after all. Now? I’m a totally different guy… once I know you. And that’s the important part. My future family needs to understand that I won’t adjust overnight. I’m not the kind of cat who’s going to walk into your home and instantly act like I’ve lived there forever. You’ll have to earn my trust, just like they did here. But if you do? Ohhh… it’s so worth it. I’m a big sweetheart. I love being petted, especially ear scratches… those are the best. If you sit on the ground, I’ll come right up and rub against you for love. That’s kind of my thing. And if you really want to win me over? Lickable treats. Seriously. That’s the key to my heart. Shake those treats and… boom… I appear like magic. “Shake shake shake” and I’m already on my way. I love other cats too. Like… really love them. I’d do best in a home where I have a feline friend to hang out with, wrestle, and zoom around with. Yep, I get the zoomies. Don’t let my size fool you… I can move. I also enjoy the simple things… like sunbathing in a warm spot and just soaking it all in. Now, I’ll be honest about one thing… I’m not a big fan of being held right now. Maybe someday with time and trust, but for now, I prefer keeping all four paws on the ground. Oh! And you might notice one of my eyes looks a little different. I’ve got a dark scar over it from an old injury. But don’t worry… our vet checked it out completely, and it doesn’t bother me one bit. I can even see out of it! I also just had a dental, so my teeth are all fresh and clean… ready for plenty of treats So… if you’re patient, kind, and willing to give me the time I need, I promise I’ll show you just how loving I can be. You can come meet me every day from 1–5pm. I’ll be the big gray tabby… probably waiting to hear that treat bag shake. My new perfect family NEEDS to understand that it WILL take me a while to adjust at first and I WILL hide as I settle in. Give me time, patience, and use food as a tool to get me out of my shell — I really am a wonderful cat. I am fully vetted: neutered, microchipped, FIV & FeLV negative, treated for fleas/ticks/and intestinal parasites, and up-to-date on all my vaccinations: distemper, rabies, and FeLV. Story
Hi… I’m Baby Ruth. Sweet like candy… but I take a little time to unwrap. I’ve been at the sanctuary for quite a few years now. When I first got here, I was not a fan of humans. I thought you were weird… maybe even a little gross. I kept my distance and made it very clear that I preferred things that way. But with time, patience, love… and let’s be honest, plenty of snacks… something changed. I started to trust. And underneath all that fear? There I was… the sweet girl I was always meant to be. Now, I won’t pretend I’m instantly outgoing. I’m still shy when meeting new people, and in a new home I’ll need time to adjust. My future family will need to understand that I won’t blossom overnight… but if you give me that chance, I promise I am so worth the wait. Because once I’m comfortable with you… oh, that’s when the magic happens. I have the cutest little meow… I use it to let you know when I’d like some pets. And when you start petting me? Don’t plan on going anywhere… because I’ll follow you around asking for more and more love. Sometimes I’ll even reach out my paw like, “Excuse me… you forgot something… ME.” I don’t mind being held for short periods, but I’m more of a “love me on my terms” kind of girl. You’ll often find me stretched out with my arms all sprawled on a cozy bed or perched on a cat tree, soaking up the sunshine like it’s my job. I’m a beautiful tuxedo lady with gorgeous amber eyes, and I get along great with other cats… I’d really love a home with a feline friend to help me feel safe and confident. Oh! And I recently had a dental, so my smile is fresh, clean, and ready to win you over. If you’re someone who understands that the sweetest bonds take time… and you’re willing to let me come to you at my own pace… I think you’ll fall in love with me before you even realize it. Come visit me daily from 1–5pm. I’m sweet… you just don’t know it yet. My new perfect family NEEDS to understand that it WILL take me a while to adjust at first and I WILL hide as I settle in. Story
Hi… my name is Alison! I’m a little gray tabby with the softest fur, gentle purrs, and big green eyes that are always watching the world carefully. I came to the sanctuary a very scared mama after being live trapped with my two babies under an abandoned mobile home. I did my very best for them and I’m proud to say they’ve both found loving homes. Now it’s finally my turn. I’ll be honest with you: I’m shy at first. When I go somewhere new, I like to hide and take my time. I need a family who understands that trust doesn’t happen overnight. But if you’re patient with me, I promise it’s worth it. Once I feel safe, I absolutely love soaking up affection. I’m quiet, sweet, and full of love. I have the softest, most polite purrs. I love being brushed… it’s one of my favorite ways to relax. And I have a silly side too… sometimes I stand right in my food dish because, well, food is yummy and I get excited. If you’re looking for a gentle soul who will bond deeply once she feels secure, I might be your girl. I don’t need loud or busy… just calm, kind, and patient. You can come meet me daily between 1–5pm at the sanctuary. I might be hiding at first… but I’ll be hoping it’s you. I have excellent litter box habits. My new perfect family NEEDS to understand that it WILL take me a while to adjust at first and I WILL hide as I settle in.
