Story
Hi there… I’m Boss Man!
And yes, I know, I’m very, very adorable. You can tell just by looking at me. I didn’t always live the good life. I came to the sanctuary as part of the “Glencoe” cats, after spending my days outside fighting for food and shelter. When I first arrived, I was pretty scared… and honestly, I wasn’t impressed with the humans at all. I even earned my name by being the Boss of the ISO room, telling everyone to go away and mind their business! But guess what? Humans grew on me. Turns out they’re pretty great. They give pets (which feel amazing), lots of love, and, most importantly, tasty lickable treats. Those treats were the key to my heart, and they’ll be the key to helping me feel comfortable in my new home too. I’ll need a family who understands that I’ll hide at first and take some time to adjust. Please be patient with me, once I trust you, you’ll see what a sweet, loving guy I really am. I absolutely love other cats. Snuggling with them, playing with them, sharing cozy naps… a feline friend is a must for me. I’m playful, always zooming around with toys, and I especially go wild for catnip bananas and catnip toys. Pure joy. These days, I even enjoy greeting visitors, especially if they come bearing treats. From tough outdoor boss to luxury-loving sweetheart, I’ve come a long way. If you think you could be my patient, loving forever human, come meet me. You can visit me daily from 1–5pm… I’ll be the adorable guy waiting for treats and pets. I have excellent litter box habits. My new perfect family NEEDS to understand that it WILL take me a while to adjust at first and I WILL hide as I settle in. Give me time, patience, and use food as a tool to get me out of my shell — I really am a wonderful cat. I am fully vetted: neutered, microchipped, FIV & FeLV negative, treated for fleas/ticks/and intestinal parasites, and up-to-date on all my vaccinations. I even had a dental recently, so all my teeth are clean. I require an indoor-only home and, as with all cats — absolutely no declawing. Story
Hello… my name is Felicity. Some people say my coat looks like a little masterpiece. I’m kind of like a dilute tortie… but with extra splashes and swirls mixed in, like an artist couldn’t decide when to stop painting. I like to think it makes me one of a kind. My story didn’t start out so pretty though. I came from a large outdoor colony called the Glencoe cats. Life out there was hard. There wasn’t anyone making sure we had food, warm beds, or safe places to sleep. Every day was a struggle to survive. We fought for meals, braved the cold weather, and tried our best to stay safe. By the time I was live trapped and brought to the sanctuary, my body had many wounds and I was very tired. But then something wonderful happened. The Furball team and their amazing veterinarian took care of me. They cleaned my wounds, gave me the TLC I desperately needed, and for the first time in a long time… I felt safe. I’ll be honest though, I didn’t trust humans right away. It took a lot of food, patience, time, and love before I realized they were my friends. Because of that, my new family will need to understand something important about me:
I will be scared at first. I will hide while I figure things out. My transition into your home won’t happen overnight. But I promise you… I am worth the wait. Once I feel safe, I’m a very sweet girl. I love gentle head scratches, especially when I’m all cozy and sleepy. I adore basking in the sunshine, rolling in catnip, and getting the zoomies while playing and scratching on cat posts. I’m also a pretty clever girl. At the sanctuary we have treat dispensers, and I’ve learned exactly where they are. You’ll often find me hanging out nearby… patiently waiting and watching in hopes that someone will press the button and send treats my way. It’s one of my favorite pastimes! Oh… and I’m a huge fan of visitors, especially the kind who bring lickable treats. Those are my weakness. I also absolutely love other cats. Snuggling up with a feline friend on a warm heating pad is one of my favorite things in the world, so I would do best in a home with another kitty companion. And just so you know, I recently had a dental, so my teeth are now sparkling clean and ready for snack time. If you think you might be the patient, loving family who will give a shy girl like me the time she deserves, I would love to meet you. You can come visit me every day from 1–5 PM. Maybe you’ll be the one I’ve been waiting for. My new perfect family NEEDS to understand that it WILL take me a while to adjust at first and I WILL hide as I settle in. Give me time, patience, and use food as a tool to get me out of my shell — I really am a wonderful cat. I am fully vetted: spayed, microchipped, FIV & FeLV negative, treated for fleas/ticks/and intestinal parasites, and up-to-date on all my vaccinations: distemper, rabies, and FeLV. I require an indoor-only home and, as with all cats — absolutely no declawing. If you are interested in adopting Felicity, please come visit… we are open daily from 1-5pm (including holidays)… we want to meet you in person! Story
Hey… Loki here! Yeah, that Loki. The big, handsome gray tabby you might’ve heard about. I didn’t always look this good though… or feel this safe. I came here as a feral cat, which is just a fancy way of saying I didn’t trust humans at all. Everything was scary. Every sound, every movement… I kept my distance and made it very clear I wasn’t interested in making friends. But the humans here didn’t give up on me. They showed me something I hadn’t really known before… patience, kindness… and, okay, a lot of food. Slowly but surely, I started to realize maybe people aren’t so bad after all. Now? I’m a totally different guy… once I know you. And that’s the important part. My future family needs to understand that I won’t adjust overnight. I’m not the kind of cat who’s going to walk into your home and instantly act like I’ve lived there forever. You’ll have to earn my trust, just like they did here. But if you do? Ohhh… it’s so worth it. I’m a big sweetheart. I love being petted, especially ear scratches… those are the best. If you sit on the ground, I’ll come right up and rub against you for love. That’s kind of my thing. And if you really want to win me over? Lickable treats. Seriously. That’s the key to my heart. Shake those treats and… boom… I appear like magic. “Shake shake shake” and I’m already on my way. I love other cats too. Like… really love them. I’d do best in a home where I have a feline friend to hang out with, wrestle, and zoom around with. Yep, I get the zoomies. Don’t let my size fool you… I can move. I also enjoy the simple things… like sunbathing in a warm spot and just soaking it all in. Now, I’ll be honest about one thing… I’m not a big fan of being held right now. Maybe someday with time and trust, but for now, I prefer keeping all four paws on the ground. Oh! And you might notice one of my eyes looks a little different. I’ve got a dark scar over it from an old injury. But don’t worry… our vet checked it out completely, and it doesn’t bother me one bit. I can even see out of it! I also just had a dental, so my teeth are all fresh and clean… ready for plenty of treats So… if you’re patient, kind, and willing to give me the time I need, I promise I’ll show you just how loving I can be. You can come meet me every day from 1–5pm. I’ll be the big gray tabby… probably waiting to hear that treat bag shake. My new perfect family NEEDS to understand that it WILL take me a while to adjust at first and I WILL hide as I settle in. Give me time, patience, and use food as a tool to get me out of my shell — I really am a wonderful cat. I am fully vetted: neutered, microchipped, FIV & FeLV negative, treated for fleas/ticks/and intestinal parasites, and up-to-date on all my vaccinations: distemper, rabies, and FeLV. Hi… I’m Flash! Yes, I know what you’re thinking… I don’t seem very “flashy,” do I? I’m more of a quiet, gentle sparkle. But trust me… once you get to know me, I’ll light up your world in the softest, sweetest way. I’ve been at the sanctuary for about 4 years now. I came from a feral colony in North Branch, Minnesota, where cats like me weren’t wanted anymore… in fact, our colony was going to be “disposed of.” Pretty scary stuff. But thankfully, I was rescued, and now I’m safe, loved, and waiting for something I’ve never had before… a home of my very own. When I first got here, I was terrified. People? No thank you. I didn’t trust anyone, and honestly… it took a long time, lots of patience, love, and (most importantly) food to convince me that humans might not be so bad after all. Now? I’ve come a long way. I may still be a little shy at first, but once I know you, I love being petted. I’ll even sit up all perched and proper, just waiting for you to notice me and give me some gentle strokes. My fur? Oh… it’s like velvet. Seriously. I’m basically a tiny, plush gray cloud with the cutest little white patch on my chest. I live for visiting hours. I wait and watch and hope someone comes in with those magical lickable treats (my absolute favorite… I will follow you anywhere for them). And if I really like you? I might even gather up my courage and step into your lap for a moment. Just… don’t rush me. I like to take things slow. Sunny spots are my happy place. Give me a warm patch of sunshine and I’m in heaven. I also need to tell you something important… I do best with other cats. They make me feel safe and help me be my brave little self, so I’m looking for a home with a feline friend. Oh! And I recently had all my teeth removed during a dental. I know, I know… sounds dramatic, right? But guess what? I still happily crunch away on treats like nothing ever happened. I’m tough like that. I am considered a special needs kitty because I’m FIV positive… but please don’t let that scare you. I can live a happy, peaceful life (even with other cats!), and I’d be happy to tell you more about it when you come meet me. I promise… I am worth the wait. The kind of love I give is quiet, gentle, and so very special. You can come visit me every day from 1–5pm. I’ll be the small gray girl soaking up the sun… and maybe, just maybe, waiting for you. My new perfect family NEEDS to understand that it WILL take me a while to adjust at first and I WILL hide as I settle in. Give me time, patience, and use food as a tool to get me out of my shell — I really am a wonderful cat. Story
Hi… Whitey here 🤍 Yes, I know what you’re thinking… “Wow, that is one very handsome cat.” And you’d be absolutely right. I’m what they call a pure bread white Alaskan meow meow… aka a purebred good boy. It’s a rare breed, you know 😉 But I’m not just a pretty face… I’ve got the personality to match. I’m a super sweet guy who loves people. If you’re nearby, don’t be surprised when I come right up and politely (or not so politely) ask for pets. I’ve got a lot to say too… I’m a bit of a talker, so we’ll have some great conversations. I’m also quite the helper around the house. Scooping litter boxes? Cleaning? Supervising? I’m your guy. I like to stay involved… and I promise I’ll make you giggle while I do it. I’m very food motivated (treats are basically my love language), and I’m a big fan of those fun treat dispensers. I also enjoy exploring, finding cozy beds, and just being part of whatever you’re doing. Once I get settled into my new home, I’ll most likely become your go-to lap cat. Now… let’s talk about my royal preferences. I’m not the biggest fan of other cats, so I’d really prefer to be the king of my own kingdom. More attention for me? Yes, please. Oh… and I recently had a dental, so my teeth are sparkling clean and ready for all the treats you’ll be giving me. I am considered a special needs cat as I am FIV positive… but that is nothing to be scared of. Feel free to ask about it! If you think I might be your perfect match, you can come visit me daily from 1–5pm. I’ll be waiting… probably looking handsome and asking for snacks. I am fully vetted: neutered, microchipped, FIV positive & FeLV negative, treated for fleas/ticks/and intestinal parasites, and up-to-date on all my vaccinations: distemper, rabies, and FeLV. I require an indoor-only home and, as with all cats — absolutely no declawing. Story
Hi… my name is Nicole 🖤 I’ve been waiting a long time to tell my story, and I’m really hoping it reaches the right human. I came to this sanctuary many years ago as a feral kitty who didn’t like people at all. Before that, I was living on a sheep farm, unwanted, cold, afraid, and hungry. Life was hard, and trusting humans wasn’t something I knew how to do. But this sanctuary changed everything for me. They gave me safety, patience, love… and yes, lots of food (that part helped a lot). It took a long time before I let anyone touch me. I needed time, understanding, and gentle hearts. And guess what? It worked. I’m now a very sweet girl who loves being petted. So much so that if you stop too soon, I might give you a gentle love tap to remind you that you’re definitely not done yet. 💕 I’m also a licker, if you sit with me long enough, I’ll give you a full bath until you’re nice and clean. I adore cozy beds, and if you spend enough quiet time with me, I may even hop right into your lap. Having my own human… my own bed… my own lap… that’s my dream. New places can be scary for me, so my forever family will need to understand that I’ll probably hide at first. Please don’t take it personally, I just need time to adjust. Patience is how you win my heart. A few more things about me: • I’m all black with one white whisker (very fancy, I know). • I wear a pink collar, so I’m easy to spot. • I love lickable treats and will always find my way to them. • Catnip makes me go absolutely wild. • I get the zoomies and love to play. • I adore other cats and would do best in a home with a feline friend. I’m considered a special needs kitty because I have FIV, but it’s truly nothing to be afraid of. I’m happy, healthy, and recently had a dental, so my teeth are sparkling clean. Don’t hesitate to ask questions about FIV; I promise, I’m worth it. If you think we might be meant for each other, you can come visit me any day between 1–5pm, even on holidays. I’ve waited a long time… and I can’t wait to finally have a home of my very own. 🖤 I have excellent litter box habits. My new perfect family NEEDS to understand that it WILL take me a while to adjust at first and I WILL hide as I settle in. Give me time, patience, and use food as a tool to get me out of my shell — I really am a wonderful cat. I am fully vetted: spayed, microchipped, FIV positive, FeLV negative, treated for fleas/ticks/and intestinal parasites, and up-to-date on all my vaccinations. I require an indoor-only home and, as with all cats — absolutely no declawing.
