Story
Meet Taco & Chica 🐾 These two aren’t just friends, they’re a true bonded pair who need to go home together. Their connection runs deep, and they feel safest and happiest right by each other’s side. Chica is the outspoken half of the duo. She loves to “chat” and isn’t shy about sharing her thoughts, whether it’s about snack time, cuddle time, or anything in between. Taco brings the goofiness, often rolling onto his back and wiggling around just to make you laugh. Together, they’re the perfect mix of personality and fun. They walk fairly well on a leash together, only occasionally getting a little tangled, and they LOVE car rides. Whether it’s a quick trip or a weekend adventure, they’re always ready to hop in and go. They’re both very food motivated and love their treats, which makes them great candidates for continued training. With a little consistency, they could really build up their basic command skills and shine even more in a home environment. If you’re looking for double the love, double the laughs, and a built-in best friend duo, Taco & Chica are ready to meet you. Apply to adopt them together today 💛

Story
Meet Jax! This 2-year-old male Chiweenie is a big personality in a small package. Playful and full of life, Jax absolutely loves romping around with other dogs—especially those who don’t mind letting him take the lead, because he definitely likes to be the “top dog.” Jax is as sweet as they come and adores people of all ages. He’s always ready to make new friends, whether they have two legs or four. Toys are one of his favorite things, and he can happily entertain himself or invite you to join in the fun. While he’s energetic and loves to play, Jax also knows how to relax. After a good round of zoomies, he’s more than happy to settle in for a cozy nap—preferably right next to his favorite humans. He’s a true cuddle bug who thrives on affection and companionship. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, affectionate pup with a confident spark and a soft, snuggly side, Jax might just be your perfect match.

Story
Meet Astro! Astro is a fun, active 1.5 year old Chihuahua terrier mix. He is a bigger and taller Chihuahua mix, weighing in at 12-13 lbs. Astro is friendly and wants to meet and give kisses to every person he sees. He loves to play fetch and is strong when playing tug-of-war. He likes going on walks and can walk 2-3 miles no problem and runs in circles in the backyard when we get home. He does need training to learn not pull on walks. He would do best with another dog his size that loves to run, chase and wrestle. He is a medium energy dog. After play time he’s a pretty laid back dog who likes to snuggle on the couch. He is potty trained and crate trained. He can get possessive/guarding with his dog bones, and can be growly in his crate. Astro is a typical young dog that needs to learn not to jump on people. Care and training must be given in these cases. He is a smart and fast learning dog. He knows some commands such as how to sit, stay/leave it. Shake, lay down and no jumping are the next commands he will be learning. Asto’s adoption donation is $350. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. To submit an application go here……chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled. Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative. Reference checks and a home visit are required so midwest dogs can only be adopted in OH, KY, IL, MI, and WI.

Story
Meet Alice! Alice is a female chihuahua mix weighing in at 7 pounds. She is on the search for her fur-ever home! Alice was born in September 2019 which makes her just over 6 years old now. Poor Alice was not treated well prior to coming into rescue. It is believed she was used as a breeder dog at a backyard breeder. She has come a long way since being with her foster family. Alice needs to be treated like the queen she is- she deserves the finest things in life! She is a fun-loving little gal, but has to live life on her terms. A few things to know about Alice: she really is not fond of other dogs, unless they are little and leave her alone, but even then, she can be cranky with them. That being said, it has been determined that Alice should be the only dog in her new home. She will need an adult only home, no kids at all. Alice also needs time to get to know new people- all of her vets talked to her first, walked around the room so Alice could go to know them, then they would pick her up and she was okay with that. Alice doesn’t like people sticking their face in her face. She should be in a home without children but is good with adults who know how to handle her and be respectful. Alice is a good eater and not fussy when it comes to food. She likes car rides- her foster family has a seat that they buckle her into but it sits on the console in the middle of both adults and Alice really seems to love that! Due to her arthritis, she should go to a home without steps; she can’t go up stairs on her own. Her foster family has a ramp but most of the time they carry her outside to go potty and carry her back inside. She should be carried or have a stroller, as she should not walk that much, except for going potty and around the yard. As she gets older, she will need more care as she will develop severe arthritis, so maybe pain meds, anti inflammatories, maybe a cart; for now, she can get around and at the times she cannot, her foster parents carry her and/or use a stroller. Will you be the one to give a gal who hasn’t had a good start to life the best possible life from this point on? Alice’s adoption donation is $300. She is available for adoption in the midwest region, which is comprised of: OH, KY, IL, MI, WI. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below.
