Story
Jax is on the scene and ready to find his perfect family. Jax is probably about three years old and a hodge podge breed of love. Jax’s heart is as big as his ears! He loves being near people and Jax loves a good cuddle session. Jax is working on potty training and would do great with a good schedule. Jax may take a little time to warm up to new folks but once he does there is not stopping the love he has to give! For this reason though, Jax would be most successful in a home with older children who are calm. Jax is a big ole sweetheart who would be a great addition to the perfect family. Jax will go home up to date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. You can apply to adopt Jax at www.pawpatroldayton.com/adopt. Jax’s adoption fee is $310. All of our animals are vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed/neutered before being adopted.

Story
Meet Lucy! Lucy is a brown and white senior chihuahua looking for a loving home. Lucy is a sweet 12-year-old gal who’s ready to steal your heart! Lucy made her way to CRT when her mother died and her son surrendered Lucy to CRT. Lucy weighs in at 6 pounds. Despite being blind in one eye, Lucy’s spirit is as vibrant as ever. She navigates with grace and loves to cuddle up with her human friends. Lucy is looking for a quiet, loving home where she can enjoy her golden years in comfort. She would do best in a home where people are at home the majority of the time. She seems to do well with other small dogs around her size that are relatively chill and relaxed. She has not been tested around cats. This charming senior lady house trained, making her an ideal companion for a relaxed household. Lucy is leash trained and goes on walks. Though she sometimes panics if she loses sight of you, she calms back down once she finds you again and does well overall on a leash. Lucy is completely vetted and up to date on her vaccinations. She is spayed. She will be microchipped prior to adoption. As mentioned previously, Lucy is blind in one eye. Her other eye is a bit cloudy. Her foster mom has noticed some pacing with Lucy, so she takes melatonin twice daily and is going to start acupuncture soon to see if that helps with the pacing. Lucy does take a monthly heartworm prevention pill. If you’re ready to offer Lucy a cozy spot on your couch and a lot of love, she’d be thrilled to meet you! Lucy’s adoption donation is $250. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. To submit an application go here……chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled. Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative. Reference checks and a home visit are required so midwest dogs can only be adopted in OH, KY, MI, WI, and IL.

Story
Meet Clark! Clark is a 3 year old, 15 pound male chihuahua mix who came to CRT from Tijuana, Mexico, via a rescue transport from Mutt Mutt Engine in early January. His foster family thinks he is part Chihuahua, part dachshund, and possibly mixed with another breed(s). Clark is a very sweet dog and loves his people. He will follow you around the house and wants to be where you are. If you’re sitting, he is on your lap and when you’re in bed he happily sleeps all night under the covers. He is also very protective of his people and when new people come into the home he is slow to warm up to them. Clark would do best in a home with a fence, as he has quite a large dog bark and just loves to run in the backyard because he has a lot of energy to burn outside. When inside, Clark is a couch/bed/lap potato. He is very good with recall and currently knows the commands sit and stay. Clark still needs work on his potty training. Currently he wears a belly band around the house. Clark also needs some training to teach him not to jump on his people, especially at mealtimes. Clark is treat motivated and with time and gentle patience he should be able to conquer both of these challenges. Clark strives to please! Leash walking will also need consistent effort, as it has been hard with the rough winter for his foster family to work consistently on that. He is currently being fostered in southeast Michigan. Clark gets along well with other small dogs, seems okay with bigger non-dominant dogs, and is uncertain about cats. He likely would not be a good fit for a home with young children. Clark’s adoption donation is $300. Clark is on monthly heartworm prevention. He has been fully vetted and is up to date on vaccinations. He has been neutered and microchipped. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. Story
This cutie is Chance! Chance is a 7 year old, 14 pound male chihuahua mix in need of a forever home. Chance has white and cream fur, the cutest floppy ears, and a great smile! Chance is very playful and loves to wiggle and squirm around. He can be a bit nippy at first when he’s scared and can be a little slow to warm up, but once he trusts, he is the perfect companion. Chance is the perfect mix of energetic and snuggly. Even his foster mom’s resident chihuahua, who usually isn’t a fan of other dogs, loves Chance! Chance is housetrained. He is also up to date on all vaccinations and has been completely vetted. He has been neutered and microchipped as well. He is heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm prevention. Chance’s adoption donation is $300. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. Story
Duke is a senior chihuahua mix with a lot of love to give, though he asks for a little patience in return. He's not one to jump into immediate friendships, preferring to take his time getting to know new humans. What Duke truly needs is a home with understanding and a quiet environment where he can feel secure. Once you've earned his trust, prepare for endless cuddles and a loyal companionship unlike any other. Duke would be happiest as the sole furry companion in a home free of young children, allowing him to truly relax and be himself. Duke is currently in a foster home and his foster parents will be facilitating meet and greets with potential adopters.

Story
Do you want a small dog companion but NOT a lap dog? Do you want a dog who will run from you rather than towards you? Do you want a dog who prefers the company of other dogs over you? Well then I have got the perfect dog for you!! Please give a warm welcome to Clementine! In all seriousness, she is an adorable little girl. Clementine came to Hart in June 2021 and has been in the same foster home ever since. She with so many others was rescued from a hoarding situation in Tennessee. To this day, she still exhibits nervousness around people. For this reason, she is looking for a very special adopter. The adopter will need to be very patient with her and give her ample time to show her brand of affection. While she still runs from me if I try to approach her to pet her, she does make her way over to me at bedtime for lovings. She will even sleep in bed with me and give me some sweet kisses. But when it’s time to get up, she darts away again. I truly can’t explain it but I have learned to accept it. Clementine does great with her doggy friends. She is most comfortable with other dogs. The ideal adopter will have another dog in the home that will groom and “mother” her. She loves having a dog around that she can curl up with!! Also, since she is hard to catch, a fenced in yard would be best for her. Due to the fact that Clementine can be a challenge to catch and she does not come when called, any meet/greets will have to be done at the adopter’s home and only within 25 miles of the Northern Kentucky area. PS Guard your socks. She loves socks (haha)
