Story
Meet Alice! Alice is a female chihuahua mix weighing in at 7 pounds. She is on the search for her fur-ever home! Alice was born in September 2019 which makes her just over 6 years old now. Poor Alice was not treated well prior to coming into rescue. It is believed she was used as a breeder dog at a backyard breeder. She has come a long way since being with her foster family. Alice needs to be treated like the queen she is- she deserves the finest things in life! She is a fun-loving little gal, but has to live life on her terms. A few things to know about Alice: she really is not fond of other dogs, unless they are little and leave her alone, but even then, she can be cranky with them. That being said, it has been determined that Alice should be the only dog in her new home. She will need an adult only home, no kids at all. Alice also needs time to get to know new people- all of her vets talked to her first, walked around the room so Alice could go to know them, then they would pick her up and she was okay with that. Alice doesn’t like people sticking their face in her face. She should be in a home without children but is good with adults who know how to handle her and be respectful. Alice is a good eater and not fussy when it comes to food. She likes car rides- her foster family has a seat that they buckle her into but it sits on the console in the middle of both adults and Alice really seems to love that! Due to her arthritis, she should go to a home without steps; she can’t go up stairs on her own. Her foster family has a ramp but most of the time they carry her outside to go potty and carry her back inside. She should be carried or have a stroller, as she should not walk that much, except for going potty and around the yard. As she gets older, she will need more care as she will develop severe arthritis, so maybe pain meds, anti inflammatories, maybe a cart; for now, she can get around and at the times she cannot, her foster parents carry her and/or use a stroller. Will you be the one to give a gal who hasn’t had a good start to life the best possible life from this point on? Alice’s adoption donation is $300. She is available for adoption in the midwest region, which is comprised of: OH, KY, IL, MI, WI. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. To submit an application go here: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled. Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative. Reference checks and a home visit are required so MW dogs can only be adopted in OH/KY/IL/MI/WI.

Story
Mental health advocates, hardship survivors, or those who simply love a slowwwww burn--this is a dog you can appreciate. We want to be transparent: Trinket isn't for everyone. She isn't a traditional little lap dog who wants to be carried around everywhere. In fact, she really doesn't want to be touched at all right now. But she DOES want to be loved. She shows this in her own little ways--following her foster mom around the house like a little shadow, sitting at the foot of her armchair and staring into her soul, spying around corners, taking food from her hands, and even sneakily curling up next to her on the couch when she was taking a nap one day. Trinket is also doing well with the resident dog, cats, birds, and even a fish tank in her foster home! We aren't sure what Trinket's full story is, but here's what we DO know: She was found running loose near an abandoned property, along with a pack of other small dogs. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan spotted them, picked up everyone they could, and got them to safety with SICSA. The dogs all appeared to be very well cared for, but unfortunately, we were never able to locate an owner. But don't go feeling sorry for Trinket--this tiny girl is a tiny WARRIOR. Sure, she's having a hard time with all these changes. But she's not letting a big, scary world get the best of her! Is she scared? Yes--but she's facing her fears and achieving small milestones every day! If you're a patient soul with a quiet home and a dog who can help show Trinket that you're a trustworthy human, you may be the one Trinket has been waiting for. Ask how you can be a part of Trinket's journey today! Trinket is currently hanging out in a foster home and is available by appointment only. To learn more about her, please contact SICSA Pet Adoption & Wellness Center, located at 8172 Washington Church Road, Washington Township, OH 45458. We are open Monday through Saturday from 12pm-7pm. To schedule an appointment or inquire about walk-in availability, you can reach us during our open hours at 937-294-6505.

Story
Meet Brownie – Your Loyal Little Shadow 🐾 Brownie is an 8-year-old sweetheart with a tender soul and a heart full of devotion. He may be a little shy and scared when you first meet him, but give him a little patience and kindness, and you’ll discover the most loyal companion you could ever ask for. Once Brownie warms up, he transforms into your very own personal lap dog. He absolutely loves to keep your lap warm while soaking up all the rubs and affection you’re willing to give. In return, he’ll offer you his whole heart. Brownie wants nothing more than to protect “his person” — it’s his way of showing gratitude for being kept safe and loved. He can happily share space with other animals, but he prefers friends who have proven themselves to be gentle and trustworthy. When he’s not curled up with you, you’ll often find him snuggled up with one of his dog buddies. And don’t let his cuddly side fool you — Brownie still loves to play and have fun! If you’re looking for a loyal little protector, a professional lap warmer, and a best friend who will adore you endlessly, Brownie might just be your perfect match. 💛

Story
Rayne Rayne is a tan, short haired, deer head chihuahua. She is up to date on vaccinations and rabies shots. She has been on a monthly treatment for heartworm. She currently weighs around 8 lbs. Rayne becomes very attached to people and loves to snuggle. She does not do well with other animals (dogs or cats). She can be food aggressive. She will nip at other animals when food is present. Due to her previous situation where she was being starved, she is food insecure. She has gained weight back from this situation and has a good bill of health from the vet. She eats wet food as she has lost some teeth. I would recommend she be an only pet and not be around small children. She does not bark or bite at people when they come into the house. She starts out weary of strangers and will come around slowly to them being present in the house.
