Story
Meet Louis! Louis was found as a stray in Joliet, Illinois. He is 2.5 years old and is a big guy at 21 pounds! If you look up Velcro dog in the dictionary, you’ll see a picture of Louis. He LOVES his person with all his heart. While he connects best with men, the nice lady who also lives in the house is OK (but Daddy is his favorite!). Louis would do best with someone who is retired or works at home. He loves to go for walks and likes exploring. He is also happy hanging out in our fenced yard and relaxing. Louis is a cuddling sweetheart that just wants to be by your side and get lots of petting. He is house trained and crate trained (although he sometimes cries while in his crate, he sits or lays down for most of the time he is crated). Louis is completely vetted and up to date on vaccinations. He has been neutered. He is heartworm negative and takes monthly heartworm prevention. Louis’ adoption donation is $300. Louis is available for adoption in the midwest region, which is comprised of: OH, KY, IL, MI, WI. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. To submit an application go here: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled. Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative. Reference checks and a home visit are required so MW dogs can only be adopted in OH/KY/IL/MI/WI.

Story
Meet Alice! Alice is a female chihuahua mix weighing in at 7 pounds. She is on the search for her fur-ever home! Alice was born in September 2019 which makes her just over 6 years old now. Poor Alice was not treated well prior to coming into rescue. It is believed she was used as a breeder dog at a backyard breeder. She has come a long way since being with her foster family. Alice needs to be treated like the queen she is- she deserves the finest things in life! She is a fun-loving little gal, but has to live life on her terms. A few things to know about Alice: she really is not fond of other dogs, unless they are little and leave her alone, but even then, she can be cranky with them. That being said, it has been determined that Alice should be the only dog in her new home. She will need an adult only home, no kids at all. Alice also needs time to get to know new people- all of her vets talked to her first, walked around the room so Alice could go to know them, then they would pick her up and she was okay with that. Alice doesn’t like people sticking their face in her face. She should be in a home without children but is good with adults who know how to handle her and be respectful. Alice is a good eater and not fussy when it comes to food. She likes car rides- her foster family has a seat that they buckle her into but it sits on the console in the middle of both adults and Alice really seems to love that! Due to her arthritis, she should go to a home without steps; she can’t go up stairs on her own. Her foster family has a ramp but most of the time they carry her outside to go potty and carry her back inside. She should be carried or have a stroller, as she should not walk that much, except for going potty and around the yard. As she gets older, she will need more care as she will develop severe arthritis, so maybe pain meds, anti inflammatories, maybe a cart; for now, she can get around and at the times she cannot, her foster parents carry her and/or use a stroller. Will you be the one to give a gal who hasn’t had a good start to life the best possible life from this point on? Alice’s adoption donation is $300. She is available for adoption in the midwest region, which is comprised of: OH, KY, IL, MI, WI. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. Story
Rayne is a tan, short haired, deer head chihuahua in need of a family. She currently weighs around 8 pounds and is about five years old. Rayne has had a difficult life and needs to find a home where she will be loved and given a chance to flourish. Rayne becomes very attached to people and loves to snuggle. She does not do well with other animals (dogs or cats) as she is food aggressive and will nip at other animals and people when eating or when food is present. Due to her previous situation where she was being starved, she is food insecure. She has gained weight back from this situation and has a good bill of health from the vet. At times, Rayne will nip at people if she feels threatened or she thinks the person she is with is being threatened. Due to this, I would not recommend she be around children of any age. She does not bark or bite at people when they come into the house. She starts out weary of strangers and will come around slowly to them being present in the house. Rayne eats wet food as she has lost some teeth. She is up to date on vaccinations and rabies shots. She has been on a monthly treatment for heartworms. Rayne’s adoption donation is $300. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. Story
Meet Misha! (also known as Mishka and Misha Mouse) Misha is a male long-haired chihuahua who is currently 10 years old and 7 pounds and looking for his forever family. Misha has a beautiful brindle coat. Misha was surrendered from a family with children and reportedly experienced rough handling by children. He would love to go to a child-free home. Though Misha can be timid, he is loving and attentive to his foster parents. He follows them from room to room! His foster mom says he is an excellent loving companion and an expert snuggler. He seems to love all adults he meets. He loves to be petted and to sit on your lap. Misha will play and jump and spin when he is happy. When it comes to humans, he is timid and submissive and does not seem to have a preference for men vs women. He seems to get along fine with other dogs. He will stick up for himself with other small dogs by backing back but has never been the aggressor. He has not been cat tested. Misha is afraid of feet when you lift your foot and is also afraid of straps such as a leash or purse strap- it may cause him to roll to his back and screech. He needs to be approached low with his leash. He is doing much better with it, but still has some fear if he’s caught off guard. He has begun to trust his foster mom’s gentle foot pets on his side or back. He is fearful and sort of freezes if you are moving semi quickly in his direction. He can be a tripping hazard and needs a family that pays good attention to where he is, since he may often be following you/underfoot. Misha is potty trained, leash trained, and crate trained. He loves taking short walks and does not pull on the leash. He is an excellent road trip companion. He also responds to several commands, including sit, down, get down, wait, and go lie down. Misha will sleep in a fluffy bed on the floor in your bedroom but would absolutely prefer to sleep in your bed! He might sleep in his crate if you are consistent. Misha does very well with his daily brushing and does well with baths. He allows gentle face washing around his eyes with a warm damp washcloth, as the borax eye wipes seem to exacerbate the tears. The best kind of family for Misha is a gentle, quiet household without children. Children as occasional guests are fine with proper supervision and protection of Misha. His foster mom would like him to be treasured as a fine, fragile family member. A fence is not required and he does not require a person to be home with him 24/7. Above all, he needs kindness, patience and protective pet parents! Misha is fully vetted and up to date on vaccinations. He has been neutered. He takes monthly heartworm prevention. Misha had a dental this year. He has chronic eye tearing with staining requiring daily warm water wash with washcloth. He has the beginnings of small dog tracheal disease which therefore requires no pulling or squeezing around his neck; use of harness is required. Misha’s adoption donation is $250. He is available for adoption in the midwest region, which is comprised of: OH, KY, IL, MI, WI. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. Story
Meet our sweet senior Chihuahua, a tiny soul with a big appreciation for life's simple pleasures. These days, her greatest joys are long naps, cozy blankets, warm sunbeams, and taking life one slow step at a time. She's traded zoomies for snoozies and believes every day is better with a little extra rest and a lot of love. Gentle, wise, and endlessly endearing, she's proof that the best things in life are quiet moments, soft beds, and peaceful hearts.

Story
my name is Whit but JUST CALL ME WHITNEY BECAUSE I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU I'm 5.5 I love people, including respectful children I am cat selective: Cats who are mindful of my personal space I ignore, others who maybe don't respect my personal space, I might chase a time or two when I first meet them to let them know I have boundaries that are important to me I am dog selective: Big dogs terrify me, especially ones who think it's ok to be all up in my bidness. Smaller dogs (40lbs and under) are fine unless they, too, can't respect my personal space. I set hard boundaries at first but if they're listened to, I'm good. I'm A+ at walking on a leash and I love going for walks I love bebe stuffies that are my size I was homeless the first 5 years of my life, so I'm still learning what life in a house is like and foster mom says I am a fast learner because I'm so smart. I'm smarter than her own dogs, she says, which is probably why I'm first in line for breakfast every morning because I. Am. Awesome. I love digging at blankets lightning fast to sleep under them forever I snuggle in bed with my people all night I take meals in my crate like a champ Pretty sure I was a pony in a past life because I trot all over the yard like one making foster mom laugh and laugh and laugh I don't like it when people try to remove one of my limbs I LOVE car rides, snuggles, and being close to my people I'm totally vetted, freshly dentaled, and I'm ready for my forever family. Please apply for me, you won't regret it! I'm currently in the Dayton, OH area.
