Story
Meet Louis! Louis was found as a stray in Joliet, Illinois. He is 2.5 years old and is a big guy at 21 pounds! If you look up Velcro dog in the dictionary, you’ll see a picture of Louis. He LOVES his person with all his heart. While he connects best with men, the nice lady who also lives in the house is OK (but Daddy is his favorite!). Louis would do best with someone who is retired or works at home. He loves to go for walks and likes exploring. He is also happy hanging out in our fenced yard and relaxing. Louis is a cuddling sweetheart that just wants to be by your side and get lots of petting. He is house trained and crate trained (although he sometimes cries while in his crate, he sits or lays down for most of the time he is crated). Louis is completely vetted and up to date on vaccinations. He has been neutered. He is heartworm negative and takes monthly heartworm prevention. Louis’ adoption donation is $300. Louis is available for adoption in the midwest region, which is comprised of: OH, KY, IL, MI, WI. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. To submit an application go here: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled. Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative. Reference checks and a home visit are required so MW dogs can only be adopted in OH/KY/IL/MI/WI.

Story
Meet Alice! Alice is a female chihuahua mix weighing in at 7 pounds. She is on the search for her fur-ever home! Alice was born in September 2019 which makes her just over 6 years old now. Poor Alice was not treated well prior to coming into rescue. It is believed she was used as a breeder dog at a backyard breeder. She has come a long way since being with her foster family. Alice needs to be treated like the queen she is- she deserves the finest things in life! She is a fun-loving little gal, but has to live life on her terms. A few things to know about Alice: she really is not fond of other dogs, unless they are little and leave her alone, but even then, she can be cranky with them. That being said, it has been determined that Alice should be the only dog in her new home. She will need an adult only home, no kids at all. Alice also needs time to get to know new people- all of her vets talked to her first, walked around the room so Alice could go to know them, then they would pick her up and she was okay with that. Alice doesn’t like people sticking their face in her face. She should be in a home without children but is good with adults who know how to handle her and be respectful. Alice is a good eater and not fussy when it comes to food. She likes car rides- her foster family has a seat that they buckle her into but it sits on the console in the middle of both adults and Alice really seems to love that! Due to her arthritis, she should go to a home without steps; she can’t go up stairs on her own. Her foster family has a ramp but most of the time they carry her outside to go potty and carry her back inside. She should be carried or have a stroller, as she should not walk that much, except for going potty and around the yard. As she gets older, she will need more care as she will develop severe arthritis, so maybe pain meds, anti inflammatories, maybe a cart; for now, she can get around and at the times she cannot, her foster parents carry her and/or use a stroller. Will you be the one to give a gal who hasn’t had a good start to life the best possible life from this point on? Alice’s adoption donation is $300. She is available for adoption in the midwest region, which is comprised of: OH, KY, IL, MI, WI. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. Story
Rayne is a tan, short haired, deer head chihuahua in need of a family. She currently weighs around 8 pounds and is about five years old. Rayne has had a difficult life and needs to find a home where she will be loved and given a chance to flourish. Rayne becomes very attached to people and loves to snuggle. She does not do well with other animals (dogs or cats) as she is food aggressive and will nip at other animals and people when eating or when food is present. Due to her previous situation where she was being starved, she is food insecure. She has gained weight back from this situation and has a good bill of health from the vet. At times, Rayne will nip at people if she feels threatened or she thinks the person she is with is being threatened. Due to this, I would not recommend she be around children of any age. She does not bark or bite at people when they come into the house. She starts out weary of strangers and will come around slowly to them being present in the house. Rayne eats wet food as she has lost some teeth. She is up to date on vaccinations and rabies shots. She has been on a monthly treatment for heartworms. Rayne’s adoption donation is $300. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. Story
The Story of Radar Max and the Bubble This is Radar Max, and as you can see he's a cute, 10ish lb chihuahua mix who's around 2-3 years old. What you can't see is the bubble around him. You see, Max has had some trauma and turmoil in his young life and he feels safest in his bubble, usually by himself. What this means is he doesn't like to be touched for very long, and only when it's on his terms. He also prefers cats and dogs that won't enter his bubble. Because of this he is looking for a special adopter who understands and respects his boundaries. Max needs a quiet and consistent home where he can build confidence in himself, and trust in his humans. He may never be the kind of dog that likes to cuddle and be held, but deep down he enjoys company and companionship. He is fully house trained, is very good on leash, and enjoys rolling around in the yard and getting the zoomies.  The truth is, it's hard not to hug and cuddle his cute face especially when he smiles at you. And while Max wants a deep and committed friendship, what he truly desires is the kind of love that gives him time, patience, and respect for boundaries.  If you can give Max the special home that he deserves, please apply to adopt.  All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   July 4, 2026, 10:33 pm

Story
my name is Whit but JUST CALL ME WHITNEY BECAUSE I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU I'm 5.5 I love people, including respectful children I am cat selective: Cats who are mindful of my personal space I ignore, others who maybe don't respect my personal space, I might chase a time or two when I first meet them to let them know I have boundaries that are important to me I am dog selective: Big dogs terrify me, especially ones who think it's ok to be all up in my bidness. Smaller dogs (40lbs and under) are fine unless they, too, can't respect my personal space. I set hard boundaries at first but if they're listened to, I'm good. I'm A+ at walking on a leash and I love going for walks I love bebe stuffies that are my size I was homeless the first 5 years of my life, so I'm still learning what life in a house is like and foster mom says I am a fast learner because I'm so smart. I'm smarter than her own dogs, she says, which is probably why I'm first in line for breakfast every morning because I. Am. Awesome. I love digging at blankets lightning fast to sleep under them forever I snuggle in bed with my people all night I take meals in my crate like a champ Pretty sure I was a pony in a past life because I trot all over the yard like one making foster mom laugh and laugh and laugh I don't like it when people try to remove one of my limbs I LOVE car rides, snuggles, and being close to my people I'm totally vetted, freshly dentaled, and I'm ready for my forever family. Please apply for me, you won't regret it! I'm currently in the Dayton, OH area.

Story
Meet Twila! ❤️ Twila is an adorable 8-year-old Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher mix with a tiny frame and a huge heart. Weighing in at under 10 pounds, this sweet little lady will be available for adoption once she’s spayed. After the heartbreaking loss of her previous owner, Twila has found herself searching for a new family to give her the love, comfort, and security she deserves. While life has changed for this little girl, she’s ready to open her heart again to someone special. Twila can be a little shy when meeting new people, but with a little patience and kindness, she’ll quickly become your most loyal companion. Once she trusts you, she’s all about snuggles, attention, and being held close. She enjoys exploring a securely fenced yard or going for leisurely walks on a leash, and she walks beautifully by your side. Twila also loves car rides, making her a wonderful companion for errands or adventures. This petite pup gets along well with both dogs and cats, making her a great addition to many different types of homes. When she’s feeling playful, you’ll find her chasing her favorite squeaky toys and often bringing them back for another round of fun! Twila is a very good girl with so much love to give. She’s hoping to find a family who will cherish her as much as she will cherish them. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate companion who will reward your patience with endless devotion, Twila could be the perfect match for you.

These pups are in Kettering, Ohio too!

Story
Sophie joined our family as the third of three small breed dogs. She grew up with our now tween and teen children. We are not wanting to let her go, but a change in living situation necessitates the same. She is very loyal to her person and wants to be sitting or lying on or with her person always. She likes to play with her toys, but usually only briefly. She likes to chase her tail, play with a piece of food before she eats it, and lie in the sun and under the covers. She can be self-protective if she feels threatened and needs someone who can attune to her and help to calm or reassure her. She’s pretty vocal when she sees other dogs or people she doesn’t know. She’s generally a sweetheart, though, who just wants to be held and loved. She is house and crate trained. She doesn’t like walks on a leash but does enjoy being outside, especially in the sun until she gets too hot. We are reluctantly rehoming her and hope she brings as much joy to your family as she did to ours.
