Story
Hi, I’m Ralphie, and I’m ready for a new adventure, hopefully with you! I’m a five-year-old, six-pound male chihuahua, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I’m currently with my foster family as I get treatment for some hind leg trouble. Once that’s all cleared up, I’ll be available for adoption! I was picked up as a stray in Illinois and Chihuahua Rescue and Transport sprung me from animal control–my lucky day! My unstable past has given me some anxiety though: I get nervous around strangers and I hate being separated from my people, although I’m never destructive. I also have a little trouble with exposing my private parts and will need help to keep them healthy. Although I have trouble with strangers, once I get to know them, I love my humans completely! I especially enjoy snuggling with them and having them throw my toy ducky so I can show off my fetching skills. I get along with other small dogs too, as long as they’re calm. My foster mom is proud of my housetraining work–she says I’m almost there! I’ll need an experienced adopter who can help me with my stranger anxiety and who can stay home with me most of the time. I know I come with some challenges, but I promise I will more than make up for the extra work with my sweet snuggles and undying devotion! Will you give me a chance to prove it? Ralphie’s adoption fee is $300. If you are interested in adopting Ralphie, please DO NOT SEND A MESSAGE TO OUR RESCUE GROUP. We are too busy placing dogs in great homes to answer messages and inquiries through the listing site. PLEASE GO TO THE LINK BELOW TO COMPLETE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION. www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application CRT requires an approved adoption application and a home visit for all adoption applicants. Story
Everything is better with chocolate…and with me, Hershey Chocolate! I’m a nine-pound, six-year-old male chihuahua, fully vetted, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on heartworm medication. I get my name from my chocolate-colored fur and my sweet disposition. Won’t you give me a try? I may take a little time to warm up to you, but once I do, I’m a super-snuggly boy. I enjoy snuggling in blankets, but I love cuddling with my favorite person even more. I like to be held like a baby, and I promise to shower you with kisses and be your loyal companion, following you wherever you go! Because I am blind and hard of hearing, I need some extra care and attention. I’ll need a fenced yard so I can roam without going too far. I also get anxious when I’m around kids or other animals, so I’ll need a quiet home where I’m the only baby. If you keep me on a schedule, I’m pretty good with my housetraining, but I’m also agreeable to wearing a belly band to prevent accidents in the house. I also don’t mind being in my crate; my foster mom leaves the door open so I can come and go as I please. If you’ve always longed for chocolate that doesn’t make your waistband tighter, look no further! I’m guaranteed to sweeten every moment with no unwanted side effects! Hershey Chocolate’s adoption fee is $300. If you are interested in adopting Hershey Chocolate, please DO NOT SEND A MESSAGE TO OUR RESCUE GROUP. Story
Hola, amigo! I’m Ariele Angelina, a ten-pound female chihuahua, roughly five to eight years old (a lady never tells). I was recently rescued from the streets of Tijuana, Mexico, and brought all the way to Wisconsin, where I was fully vetted, vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and gotten up-to-date on heartworm medication. Now this world traveler is ready to settle down for good with a forever family; how about yours? One thing I’ve noticed since moving to Wisconsin is that it is cold here! Wearing a sweater helps me keep warm, not to mention look stylish. My favorite way to keep warm, however, is snuggling! I love to cuddle in bed on a cool night, and I’m always happy to add kisses. I will greet you ecstatically with them when you come home, and if you sit on the floor, I’ll consider you fair game for play and even more kisses! As you might expect, I’m a quick mover, so I’ll need a fenced-in yard. Loud noises make me want to run and hide, so I’ll need a quieter environment with no small children. I would love to have a doggy sibling or two to play with, but I’ll need to be fed in a separate room because I can be a bit possessive with my food. I also love a good car ride, but only if I’m safely latched into a doggy car seat to help me resist the urge to move around. I adjust easily to new surroundings and can’t wait to take one more trip to my forever home. You won’t believe how quickly I’ll move into your heart! Ariele’s adoption fee is $300. If you want to adopt Ariele, please DO NOT SEND A MESSAGE TO OUR RESCUE GROUP. We are too busy placing dogs in great homes to answer messages and inquiries through the listing site. Story
Elmer is an eleven pound Chi mix that is full of love and kisses... but only after he feels comfortable enough not to bite your face off. I mean... he is a chihuahua after all. All joking aside, we believe him to be approximately 8 years young with a zest for life. Even though he has been said to not like all men, the men he's met so far he's been okay with. He did better while taking pictures with Santa, than most children. Elmer is likely to get nervous at first in his new home and will need proper time to settle in before becoming best friends. Proper decompression is the key to his success. He can be easily spooked with fast movements but builds trust quickly once he realizes that he is safe from harm. Once you are in... you are totally in and Elmer shows his affection by covering you in kisses and being super snuggly with his cuddles. He's a dog that doesn't know how to hold his licker... so be prepared for lots of PDA. He is also happy to just sit in your lap or lay in the crook of your arm to take a nap. Elmer is reluctant to getting in his crate, once he is in it, he will bark and grumble for a short time but will eventually settle down. When he is let out of his crate, he will jump up while walking to the door to go outside to do his business. Elmer gets along fine with all dogs, big and small in his foster home. He did some marking when first arriving to his foster home, this stopped after one week of his arrival. Elmer's teeth look really good for his age, very little tarter and "decent" breath. He is definitely a dog that needs time to adjust to change, but once he loves you, he loves you with all his heart. If you would like to meet this cute little guy and possibly add him to your family, please complete an application at PawPatrolDayton.com/adopt. His adoption fee is $210. Elmer is neutered, current on vaccinations, Heartworm negative, and he is microchipped. All of our animals are vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed/neutered before being adopted.

Story
Hello, I’m Princess Fiona, but you can call me Fiona! I’m an eight-year-old, six-pound, longhaired female chihuahua, fully vetted, vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. I come with my very own lady-in-waiting, Izzy, so my new home will need to have room for two. Instead of the castle I deserve, I was raised in a breeder’s warehouse and spent all my time in a crate, with little socialization. Consequently, I am very timid and fearful, and will need lots of time and patience in my new home. I’ve already made excellent progress in my foster home and am getting accustomed to being touched and fed out of my foster mom’s hand. I come when called, tail wagging, but I still get scared and run away when approached directly. While people may frighten me, I get along well with other dogs, especially my best friend, Izzy! She gives me the true royal treatment, grooming me regularly, and I take care of her right back. We also snuggle together and always practice our dancing at mealtime. I’m a happy, healthy dog whose had a rough start in life. Will you give Izzy and me the fairytale ending of our dreams? If so, we promise to help you live happily ever after too! Princess Fiona’s adoption fee is $300. If you want to adopt Fiona, please DO NOT SEND A MESSAGE TO OUR RESCUE GROUP. Story
Hello, I’m Izzy! I’m a ten-year-old, five-pound, shorthaired female chihuahua, fully vetted, vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. I’m a sweet, shy little lady who needs a patient, loving human to help me learn to trust. My best friend Fiona and I travel together, so my new family will need to have room for two! I am quite timid and fearful of new people and new surroundings, but I’ve made great progress in my foster home. My new human will need to be willing to give me gentle care and training. They will also need to be aware of a couple of medical issues. I’m missing most of my teeth, although the ones I have left are freshly cleaned. The vet also says I have a grade 4 heart murmur, but it doesn’t prevent me from living a happy life! One of my favorite times is mealtime: I like to dance and twirl when I know food is coming! My friend Fiona and I love to cuddle and nap together. Like most gal pals, we groom each other to keep looking our best. It takes a big heart to welcome two dogs in need. Does yours have room for Fiona and me? We may be small, but we have plenty of love to give! Izzy’s adoption fee is $250. If you want to adopt Izzy, please DO NOT SEND A MESSAGE TO OUR RESCUE GROUP. Story
Meet Henley! This sweet girl is one of the Chihuahua mixes that were rescued back in December. She and her siblings had been left outside most of their lives. Henley is about 11 months old and was so scared and timid when we first brought her in, but has warmed up so well in her foster home! Henley loves snuggling, playing with her toys and hanging out with her foster mama. She is not a fan of being outside when it’s cold and needs a forever home that will teach her how to walk on a leash and introduce her to new adventures when she’s ready. Henley gets along with other dogs, but may need a slow introduction. Another dog in the home may help build Henley's confidence. If you think you would be a good fit for Henley, you can fill out an application here: https://www.coopersafeplace.org/application-page Her adoption fee is $450.00

Story
Hi, I am Rosie and I am super shy. I am about 6 years old, have been with HART since June 2021 and am looking for a home to call my own. I came from a hoarding situation where over 150 doggies just like me were living together in a small house. My ideal space will either be with one of my friends (King is extra snuggly) or in a home with a dog about my size to hang around. I am a pretty easy going gal and am not territorial about my food, toys or treats. I don't mind cats but a doggie friend is a must for me. I am happiest if I get to roam around a yard with a fence as I have rarely been on a leash and just don't like it. I think I could learn to love humans and their attention but I will need time and patience as I am just learning what it is like to be loved. Think you might be the family for me? Please fill out an adoption application NOW at rescueahart.org as I have been waiting way too long for a place to call my own!

Story
Do you want a small dog companion but NOT a lap dog? Do you want a dog who will run from you rather than towards you? Do you want a dog who prefers the company of other dogs over you? Well then I have got the perfect dog for you!! Please give a warm welcome to Clementine! In all seriousness, she is an adorable little girl. Clementine came to Hart in June 2021 and has been in the same foster home ever since. She with so many others was rescued from a hoarding situation in Tennessee. To this day, she still exhibits nervousness around people. For this reason, she is looking for a very special adopter. The adopter will need to be very patient with her and give her ample time to show her brand of affection. While she still runs from me if I try to approach her to pet her, she does make her way over to me at bedtime for lovings. She will even sleep in bed with me and give me some sweet kisses. But when it’s time to get up, she darts away again. I truly can’t explain it but I have learned to accept it. Clementine does great with her doggy friends. She is most comfortable with other dogs. The ideal adopter will have another dog in the home that will groom and “mother” her. She loves having a dog around that she can curl up with!! Also, since she is hard to catch, a fenced in yard would be best for her. Due to the fact that Clementine can be a challenge to catch and she does not come when called, any meet/greets will have to be done at the adopter’s home and only within 25 miles of the Northern Kentucky area. PS Guard your socks. She loves socks (haha)

Story
Welcome back Woody (formerly known as Nelson) 💕 Born 5/19/23, Chihuahua/Heeler mix, 20lbs Woody was adopted as a young puppy and recently returned due to training issues. His wonderful foster mom has worked with him over the past few weeks, and we’ve learned he is a wonderful little dog. Woody will turn 1 in May and is looking for his forever home. Woody has an abundance of energy! He needs ALOT of exercise. He is learning manners and is doing well. He needs to be reminded not to jump on people for attention, especially in the morning when he is soooo excited to see you after sleeping in his crate. He is house trained, but still very much puppy and will chew on things other than his toys if left on his own. For now, he is confined to a specific area when his foster mom is not home. He had some issues in the past with older dogs, but plays well with younger dogs. Woody would need to be fed separately because he doesn’t always respect his foster siblings’ space when they are eating. He really enjoys playing ball and with stuffed squeaky toys. His purpose in life is to extract the squeaky from the toy. Woody is very focused on his human and will want to be in the same room as you. Woody is a high energy and smart dog who needs a home where he will get plenty of exercise and consistent structure. He knows basic commands, walks great on leash, house trained, and crate trained. Woody is current on vaccines, microchipped, and neutered. We are accepting applications at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SHPA/Dog
