Mental health advocates, hardship survivors, or those who simply love a slowwwww burn--this is a dog you can appreciate. We want to be transparent: Trinket isn't for everyone. She isn't a traditional little lap dog who wants to be carried around everywhere. In fact, she really doesn't want to be touched at all right now. But she DOES want to be loved. She shows this in her own little ways--following her foster mom around the house like a little shadow, sitting at the foot of her armchair and staring into her soul, spying around corners, taking food from her hands, and even sneakily curling up next to her on the couch when she was taking a nap one day. Trinket is also doing well with the resident dog, cats, birds, and even a fish tank in her foster home! We aren't sure what Trinket's full story is, but here's what we DO know: She was found running loose near an abandoned property, along with a pack of other small dogs. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan spotted them, picked up everyone they could, and got them to safety with SICSA. The dogs all appeared to be very well cared for, but unfortunately, we were never able to locate an owner. But don't go feeling sorry for Trinket--this tiny girl is a tiny WARRIOR. Sure, she's having a hard time with all these changes. But she's not letting a big, scary world get the best of her! Is she scared? Yes--but she's facing her fears and achieving small milestones every day! If you're a patient soul with a quiet home and a dog or cat who can help show Trinket that you're a trustworthy human, you may be the one Trinket has been waiting for. Meet Radar Max... but you can call him Max.  Max is a one-of-a-kind guy with a big personality and a very clear idea of what he likes (and what he doesn't ). This handsome pup prefers to keep his circle small—he bonds deeply with his person and will be your most loyal companion once you earn his trust. Max's story: His original family loved him, but when they became homeless, they were forced to make the heartbreaking decision to give him up so he could have a safe and stable future. Personality: Max can be a bit grumpy at first and isn't the social butterfly type, but underneath that tough exterior is a devoted, loving dog who just wants his own human.  Home Life: He is fully house-trained and has great manners in the home. Max would do best in a calm environment where he can be the center of attention.  Skills: Walks beautifully on a leash and enjoys getting out for fresh air with his person. Ideal Match: Someone patient and understanding who appreciates a dog with boundaries and a strong personality. Max isn't for everyone-and that's okay. He's looking for his person. The one who understands that love doesn't always look like tail wags and kisses right away, but something deeper and lasting. If you're the kind of person who believes trust is earned and loyalty is everything, Max might just be your perfect match. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH.
