Story
Meet Layla! She’s a blonde bombshell, yes; but more importantly she’s a love bug. She’s about 9 years old and under 35lbs. She’s great with dogs and cats but also would love to be the star of the show. She’s medium to low energy given her age. She’s great in the car and not destructive by any means. She loves toys and can occupy herself.   All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   July 26, 2024, 1:46 pm

Story
Everything is better with chocolate…and with me, Hershey Chocolate! I’m a nine-pound, six-year-old male chihuahua, fully vetted, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on heartworm medication. I get my name from my chocolate-colored fur and my sweet disposition. Won’t you give me a try? I may take a little time to warm up to you, but once I do, I’m a super-snuggly boy. I enjoy snuggling in blankets, but I love cuddling with my favorite person even more. I like to be held like a baby, and I promise to shower you with kisses and be your loyal companion, following you wherever you go! Because I am blind and hard of hearing, I need some extra care and attention. I’ll need a fenced yard so I can roam without going too far. I also get anxious when I’m around kids or other animals, so I’ll need a quiet home where I’m the only baby. If you keep me on a schedule, I’m pretty good with my housetraining, but I’m also agreeable to wearing a belly band to prevent accidents in the house. I also don’t mind being in my crate; my foster mom leaves the door open so I can come and go as I please. If you’ve always longed for chocolate that doesn’t make your waistband tighter, look no further! I’m guaranteed to sweeten every moment with no unwanted side effects! Hershey Chocolate’s adoption fee is $300. If you are interested in adopting Hershey Chocolate, please DO NOT SEND A MESSAGE TO OUR RESCUE GROUP. We are too busy placing dogs in great homes to answer messages and inquiries through the listing site. PLEASE GO TO THE LINK BELOW TO COMPLETE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION. www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application CRT requires an approved adoption application and a home visit for all adoption applicants. CRT transports to OH, KY, IL, MI, MN, and WI.

Story
Elmer is an eleven pound Chi mix that is full of love and kisses... but only after he feels comfortable enough not to bite your face off. I mean... he is a chihuahua after all. All joking aside, we believe him to be approximately 8 years young with a zest for life. Even though he has been said to not like all men, the men he's met so far he's been okay with. He did better while taking pictures with Santa, than most children. Elmer is likely to get nervous at first in his new home and will need proper time to settle in before becoming best friends. Proper decompression is the key to his success. He can be easily spooked with fast movements but builds trust quickly once he realizes that he is safe from harm. Something to help with this, is another doggy friend for Elmer to call his sibling. Elmer seems most comfortable with canines alike and this would help him be most successful in his new home!Once you are in... you are totally in and Elmer shows his affection by covering you in kisses and being super snuggly with his cuddles. He's a dog that doesn't know how to hold his licker... so be prepared for lots of PDA. He is also happy to just sit in your lap or lay in the crook of your arm to take a nap. Elmer is reluctant to getting in his crate, once he is in it, he will bark and grumble for a short time but will eventually settle down. When he is let out of his crate, he will jump up while walking to the door to go outside to do his business. Elmer gets along fine with all dogs, big and small in his foster home. He did some marking when first arriving to his foster home, this stopped after one week of his arrival. Elmer's teeth look really good for his age, very little tarter and "decent" breath. He is definitely a dog that needs time to adjust to change, but once he loves you, he loves you with all his heart. If you would like to meet this cute little guy and possibly add him to your family, please complete an application at PawPatrolDayton.com/adopt. His adoption fee is $210. Elmer is neutered, current on vaccinations, Heartworm negative, and he is microchipped. All of our animals are vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed/neutered before being adopted.

Story
Hi there! Look no further because I’m your girl!  My name is Izzy and I am 1 year old and 6 lbs. Still in my puppy phase but learning how to be a big girl.  I am very playful and have lots of energy so I need someone to take me outside for walks and to play with me. I am good with other dogs and another playful dog would be a plus for me.  I even like bigger dogs to play with! My uncle’s dog, Barrett the St. Bernard, is my bestest friend. But I don’t see him every day.  Like I said, I have lots of energy but I do take my quiet time naps when foster mom goes away. I have my own little space in the guest room bathroom where my comfy crate awaits with all of my stuffed toys.  I have been a good girl around 6 and 7 year old boys but they really make me nervous so foster mom only allows me to be with them when she is watching. Because I am a Chihuahua I could easily nip if a child scares me so a home with no small kids is best.  I like to play in the fenced in backyard (that is the only place I am off leash because I am very fast) but foster mom watches me pretty close. I like to chew on sticks which is OK with her but it seems eating rocks is not allowed at this establishment. Heehee.  She is spayed, UTD on vaccines, HW Negative and on HW preventative.  Her adoption donation is $300.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. To submit an application go here……chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled. Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative. Reference checks and a home visit are required so dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD, GA, OH, KY, MI, WI, and IL. Izzy is currently located in Ohio, any adopter located outside our Midwest Region (OH, KY, MI, WI & IL) will be responsible for paying the additional cost of a flight to transport her to her forever home if ground transport is not available. The cost of a flight typically costs $125, and Izzy will be flown in cabin and escorted by an airline volunteer.

Story
Introducing Moon Pie! My name is Moon Pie and I’m a sweet 8 year old (estimated DOB: 5/2016) male chihuahua mix weighing in at 6 lbs! I was found running the streets of Dallas Texas as a stray, and a nice family took me in to keep me safe. They spent a month trying to find my former home, but after no luck they reached out to the nice people at CRT for help! After several days flying from Texas to Michigan, I found myself with a wonderful foster family! My foster mom says I’m a great snuggler, and love my people and dog siblings! I’m great at walking, enjoy car rides, and just want to be close to my people! I’m very smart as well, I love to learn new things! I’m still learning not to mark in the house, but as I was recently neutered foster mom says it should get better! I really don’t mind this belly band thing either, but don’t quite understand what those potty pads are! Otherwise I’m doing great with house training and haven’t met a stranger yet! Moon Pie is neutered, UTD on vaccines, HW Negative and on HW Preventative. Moon Pie’s adoption fee is $300. If you are interested in adopting Moon Pie, please DO NOT SEND A MESSAGE TO OUR RESCUE GROUP. We are too busy placing dogs in great homes to answer messages and inquiries through the listing site.
