Story
Bruce is a 10-month-old puppy who’s funny, silly, and full of energy. He’s a little wild in a puppy way and absolutely loves being outside—running, exploring, and burning off energy. He would do best with someone who has a backyard and enjoys an active, outdoor lifestyle like hiking or long walks. This isn’t a rushed rehoming. I care deeply about Bruce and am looking for the right fit, not just any home. He deserves someone who can give him space, time, and a lot of love.

Story
I'm a lucky dog and smart, too! I was chosen to go to college with the MSU Companion Animal students at MSU and I graduated! I spent 10 weeks learning great stuff with the students and now I'm ready for a real job - like loving you! I learn quickly, already know commands and I'm house trained. I'd love to have an active family and a job to do - just a sling care of you would be an honor. Don't you want to meet me? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2424236##

If you’re looking for something sweet without the sugar crash, Oreo is your guy! Just like his namesake, he’s a classic favorite who is impossible to resist. Oreo is a "very sweet" dog who believes that life is better when it’s shared with a best friend. He’s the kind of dog who brings a smile to everyone’s face just by walking into the room. Story
Wesson is the kind of dog who looks right into your heart and seems to understand exactly what you’re saying. At just a year old, he’s the perfect blend of youthful energy and eagertoplease sweetness. With his striking tricolor coat and bright, intelligent eyes, he turns heads everywhere he goes. Wesson came to us from the Bolivar Pound, and despite his uncertain start, he has shown nothing but friendliness and curiosity. He loves people, enjoys exploring new places, and is always ready for a walk, a game, or a cuddle—whatever you’re offering. His herdingbreed mix gives him a smart, attentive personality, and he’s the kind of dog who will thrive with someone who enjoys teaching, bonding, and having a loyal companion by their side. He’s young, trainable, and full of potential. Whether you’re looking for a hiking buddy, a yardplaying partner, or a best friend to share the couch with, Wesson is ready to be that dog. Odin was adopted from Humane Colorado and is a high-energy, 5-year-old dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He is very sweet, fully house-trained, and can be quite talkative at times, which only adds to his charm. Odin would thrive as the only dog in the home and is looking for an active person or family who can provide consistent daily walks and would enjoy taking him on hikes and adventures. Odin is a loyal and loving companion who is in search of a family who can match his needs.

Story
I got my baby boy from a breeder near Colorado Springs. He is now 8 years and 7 months. He needs to be re-homed because he is not adjusting well to our now one year old. He never bit her. But he was showing teeth and getting more aggravated. It was clear that our baby was at risk of getting harmed and also since the baby my dog just hasn’t been happy. He’s stressed out and depressed (only when at my house). He deserves a child free and dog free home where he can thrive and love life again. And you have to have a backyard. He’s still high energy. Obi has a zest for life. When he’s outside he is full of so much joy it lights anyone up. He loves to play fetch and keep away. He LOVES people. He warms up fast and loves hanging out with visitors. He’s smart. He’s playful. He’s loving. He’s just the best dog anyone could ask for. Obi will fill your home with energy, excitement, snuggles, and love. I want the rest of his life to be a happy one. He deserves it! And his new owner too.
