This athletic herding mix is built for adventure and recently discovered a love for canicross—he’s a total natural! Curtis happily joined a group run and kept up like a pro, soaking in every second. If you’re looking for a running buddy or an active partner, he’s ready to go. He also loves playing ball and tug in the yard and is always up for a good game. He walks nicely on leash and is learning when it’s time to stay close versus when he can lean into a run with his harness. Curtis is both housebroken and crate trained—he trots right into his crate for bedtime or when you leave and settles in without a peep. When the day winds down, Curtis is all about the cuddles. He’ll tuck his head into your neck and melt into you like the sweetest weighted blanket. He thrives on routine, eagerly heading to his spot at mealtime and eating like a champ. Unfortunately, the injury became infected due to the extreme heat and humidity, but they knew we couldn’t leave him behind. After rescuing him, it was discovered that his bone had healed improperly, and Bada needed surgery to correct it. Now, after a successful recovery, Bada is living it up in Illinois as a happy, healthy dog who’s ready to leap, run, and enjoy life to the fullest! Bada has a bright, outgoing personality and is full of energy. He’s not shy about anything—he’s all about making new friends and jumping right into playtime! Whether it's chasing after a ball or running around with a fellow dog, Bada is always up for some fun. His exuberance and excitement are contagious! Now, before we go any further into my story.... let me warn you...it contains heartache and then some puppies, and fear and even some hopelessness. We do go to the top of the mountain as well, so hold in for the wild ride of my life:) maybe you will get to be my happily ever after.... So I was born a poor border collie mixed pup, in the miserable heat, in a disgusting backyard. To a mama that could have been so beautiful, if she had been brushed and cared for.... Fast forward thru almost 4 YEARS of misery and puppies, we were saved!!! I was saved with 9 newborn puppies and my sister/daughter/ cousin, etccc Princess and HER 9 PUPPIES TOO! We landed safe and sound at the rescue! We are now gorgeous girls and all pups grown and adopted! Now its time for me!! I am a single gal, and really don't like other dogs in my business. I want to be the Queen of the house :D Adopt me and I will fill YOUR home with my love and devotion. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)

Bluey is at our shelter. Please submit an application from our website or just come in to meet him during open hours! 1 year old Bluey is the kind of dog who turns heads without even trying—and once you get to know him, you’ll see his personality is just as striking! He came to us from our partners in Kentucky, and we are so happy to have him here at Heartland. We think he's pretty happy here too, getting all the attention and treats! He walks great on a leash, has been friendly meeting all the volunteers, and done great in playgroup as well. You couldn't ask for more. Bluey is an affectionate, loyal companion who’s as beautiful on the inside as he is on the outside. He will make a great family member, we hope you come meet him at Heartland! Bluey's adoption fee is $300. This animal is spayed/neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
