Gazpacho is a corgi black lab mix and his birthday just passed (march 14) making him a 1 year old. He is fully potty trained and will alert when he needs to go to the bathroom. He has a very rambunctious and sassy personality with a love to play. He listens to commands and knows a lot of basic commands (sit, down, let it, sits at crosswalks, wait at open door, etc). Gazpacho’s perfect home would be as follows: Household with a minimum of 2 adults No children Preferably a yard He yearns for another dog companion so a home with a compatible dog Caretakers who are willing to go through the rest of his adolescence phase All supplies and needed equipment will be given to you as well as a written out guide for his behaviors and how to properly care for him.

Story
Jasmine (born: 3/20/2012) is 10 years old and 22 pounds. We were told that her parents were a Collie and a Chihuahua, but we think she looks like a Corgi / Sheltie mix. We call Jasmine the Elizabeth Taylor of dogs, because she is like a glamorous, iconic, movie star – very discerning about who she makes friends with. If you are gentle and let her warm up to you, you will pass the test and Jasmine will absolutely adore you! Jasmine loves to be admired, brushed, being with you, she enjoys her walks and is housebroken. We really appreciate that you want to give a shelter animal a home. The Humane Society of New York was founded in 1904. The Vladimir Horowitz/Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center is a no-kill shelter. Our on-site clinic and staff of skilled Veterinarians looks after the health and well-being of every animal here. We also have a great adoption matchmaking team who will gladly take your profile and match you or your pet with just the right cat or dog companion. We start the process once you have submitted an application to us. Once a completed application is received, the HSNY Adoption Team will review it and we will contact you if we are going to take next steps. FOR AN APPLICATION, please visit http://humanesocietyny.org/adoptions/ and download then email your application to hsny.adopt@gmail.com. Our one and only location is: 306 East 59th Street (between 1st & 2nd Avenue) in Manhattan. If you'd like to sponsor Jasmine, please email amk.hsny@verizon.net. You can give as much or as little as you like. Your donation is tax deductible. Thank you! For additional information on the Humane Society of New York, please visit: humanesocietyny.org. Thank you!

Story
5 years, 35lbs, Corgi/Terrier Mix, Neutered - NEEDS TO LOOSE ABOUT 8 LBS - Lowe Rider (Super cute short legs)  Is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Thier Foster Parent Says: "Reading is truly one of the most loveable, adorable and angelic pups I've ever met! He is such a softie + sweetie – but still loves to play. Not destructive, no potty accidents, seems to know what off means for the most part... He loves a long walk but he also loves a long nap and cuddle. He's fun to train (we just learned to sit!), loves treats and destroys chew toys in under an hour (happily). He does NOT like his salmon kibble, however when mixed with some wet food he'll eat it, but he is quite the picky eater. He walks really well, loves to sniff everything, but doesn't seem to eat anything off the streets/isn't interested in eating things that aren't food or treats. He definitely has a mid level of energy and gets a 60-90 minute morning walk at about 7:30am, but can definitely keep up on a long Sunday stroll around town (was fine on a 2 .5 hour walk around with some breaks!) He loves to say hi to all other dogs, but sometimes the tail goes down and he'll growl a little, so I always make sure the tail is wagging before letting him say hello. Reading definitely struggles with separation anxiety and will need a pet parent able and patient to help him through this! He barks a little and then cries almost the entire time he's left alone, and sits and waits by the door until I return. It seems he'll bark a bit for about 5 minutes and then just whimper/cry softly. He even doesn't like when I go to the bathroom /leave him alone in a room, but it's only his first week here so this may improve with some training and as he decompresses. I think he'll do well with someone who is home often, with a consistent routine, plenty of exercise, training and love! He loves to come into my room to wake me up at 7:00am like an alarm clock, but sleeps solidly throughout the night with no disruptions. He definitely needs to lose a few pounds but has great energy levels/no issues with lots of exercise. He still has a very puppy-like energy and excitement!  Overall, he is such a great pup with a lovely personality and just some seo anxiety! He doesn't seem to mind the sounds and does well on the streets of NYC."  Level of dog ownership experience needed: INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy Level  MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Energy Level Medium — Not bouncing off the walls but needs long walks and playtime, likes to be active Cuddle Bug Level Medium — Likes to snuggle when he's in the mood but often stays in his own bed – I WOULD SAY BETWEEN MEDIUM TO HIGH Potty Trained Yes — Few or no accidents - NO ACCIDENTS :)  Comfy with strangers? Yep — Wants to be friends with everyone who walks by, super social butterfly, loves anyone who will stop to say hello. Good with Children? (ALWAYS requires supervision) Not a great match for a home with kids — calm teenagers and up is okay.  He is very sensitive/a little mouthy (but gently) at playtime. Good with Other Dogs? Mostly — Generally good with other dogs but may be picky (scared of big dogs or plays too rough for small dogs, for example) – Wants to say hi to all of them, but sometimes the tail goes down and he growls so I wait to see if the tail wags before letting him say hi! Good with Other Animals? (cats, small pets, etc.) Yes — Seems to get along with other animals, either tries to play with them or is mostly uninterested – Haven't seen him around anything other than pigeons and squirrels, mostly uninterested Mouthy Behavior?  Low – Little to no interest in chewing on stuff or putting things in its mouth that aren’t food. Doesn’t try to chew on hands, feet, etc. during playtime, doesn’t wreck your stuff — only chews on appropriate things like dog toys and bones.  Leash Manners? Old Pro – Seems like a dog that has been on leash before. Doesn’t pull hard or need much direction.  Okay in the city? Yes  — Spooked easily by loud noises and bustling areas but walks pretty well and probably just needs more time to adjust (may be a puppy or a brand new rescue) Jumping on People to Say Hi? Medium – Jumps up only on people the dog knows when really excited. Stops with correction. Separation Anxiety?  High - not destructive but cries/barks/whines and sits by the door the entire time left alone. Would be great for a home in the burbs where he can cry (no neighbors) and get more comfy home alone.  Crate training?  Not at all – Don’t even have one, I’ve puppy proofed and we free range. Medical status Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake  How this dog ended up with Social Tees: Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc
