Monty is a sweet senior gentleman whose world was turned upside down through no fault of his own. When his owner lost his home, he did everything he could to keep his beloved pets with him, even living in his car. But as the weather became hotter, he made the heartbreaking and selfless decision to surrender them so they could be safe, comfortable, and have the chance to find loving homes again. Despite all the change, Monty has remained the friendly dog he's always been. He enjoys the company of people, is mostly house trained, and even gets along well with cats. He's the kind of easygoing companion who is simply looking for a quiet home, a cozy bed, and someone to love. Monty is microchipped, neutered, and up to date on his vaccinations. 🚨 Dachshund Army, Mocha needs your help! 🚨 Only 3 1/2 years old, her life was forever changed when she was recently hind end paralyzed due to the dreaded doxie IVDD. Sadly disc issues are the price the breed pays for those adorable short stubby legs and long backs. She was on medication but did not regain function, and we weren’t contacted to take her in until a week after her injury, too late for surgery to give her a high chance of regaining normal hind end function. She’s seen a neurologist and is on strict crate rest right now- there is still some chance she may improve over time since it was a very small disc with minimal compression on her spinal cord, but we have to have to move forward with the expectation the damage is permanent. She’s no longer in any pain and can still live a long happy quality life as a wheelchair dog with the right person and a lot of extra care. She’s a gentle sweet small standard dapple longhair, 16lbs, loves her squeaky toys, likes other small gentle dogs and is coping her with crate rest and lifestyle change as well as can be expected. She is incontinent but has been cooperative having her bladder expressed and being cleaned, and hasn’t been leaking between expressions as long as done regularly. We are urgently seeking a longer term foster or adopter able to stay on top of her care to make sure she doesn’t get sores or urinary tract infections. Mocha is a lifestyle choice not to be entered into lightly, but promises to reward you with years of loyalty and trademark doxie kisses and long-nosed nuzzles. Thanks to our partnership with Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge she was able to get an immediate neurology visit and MRI to explore all avenues for how best to help her. He is neutered, heartworm negative and has received a Proheart6 preventative injection, up to date on shots and is now looking for a loving home. His adoption fee is 900.00 and his transport fee is 135.00. HEARTS is our transport, they run every 2 weeks. It's the best transport and the only one we will use. PROSPECT PETE: Tiny Dog. Massive Feelings. Absolutely No Men. Prospect Pete is a 5-year-old miniature Dachshund who was found wandering the streets of Louisiana looking like life had thoroughly kicked his little wiener-dog ass. When NorthStar took him in, Pete was skinny, covered in hair loss, had double ear infections, needed a dental, had a growth on his chest, and frankly looked like he’d been through several terrible life choices and at least one bad relationship. The good news? His body is healing. The bad news? Pete has apparently decided that men are canceled. We can’t know exactly what happened to him during his first five years, but we’re pretty certain a man failed this little guy in a big way. Pete would very much like to file for a lifetime restraining order against the male gender and is currently accepting applications from women only. His ideal home consists of: â Women. â More women. â Another friendly dog. â Snacks. â Soft voices. â Someone who is home a lot. â Absolutely no dudes trying to “win him over.” Pete doesn’t bite men.
