Sadly, that same neighbor is now dealing with serious medical issues and can no longer care for him. With no other options, Louie was brought to a kill shelter in Tennessee. That’s when Eleventh Hour Rescue stepped in and said, “Not on our watch.” Now Louie is getting his second chance—and he’s ready to trade survival mode for a real home. He loves car rides, walks nicely on leash, and is the kind of dog who’s just happy to be by your side. Our fun young doxie mix pup Bishop is still looking for a home! He’s a super happy social friendly guy who loves meeting new people and making new friends. He’s probably between 1-2 years old tops but still have that fun playful puppy energy. Under 20lbs grown, neutered, updated on shots and ready to move right into his new home. He’s crate-trained and working on housebreaking but goes as soon as taken out, very food motivated and trainable with structure and consistency. We aren’t sure of his mix- maybe some beagle or puggle with his wrinkly face and underbite. Meet Simba, the saddest little doxie wannabe 😭 This poor guy was completely overwhelmed and terrified, being turned into a crowded shelter and then coming to us, and initially just sat in the corner for days hanging his head like Eeyore 🫏 🥺. It was heartbreaking. He’s gotten over his initial shell shock and starting to show a little bit more of a personality, wagging his tail when he sees us and making friends with some of the calmer dogs. But despite his brave lion 🦁 name, he is still a super chicken 🐓 He has a lot of fear in him, cowers and shudders when touched like he is expecting the worst. We aren’t sure of much about his past life and we aren’t sure we want to know, but we are focused on moving forward and making him as happy as he can be. He was said to be a doxie/chi/pug mix and we can definitely see all 3- the underbite, wrinkly face, and wider stance of a pug, the trembling neurotic chihuahua nature (and he will bark and snark and let strangers know to back off if they approach too fast) , and of course the long short legged perfect doxie body 🌭. He’s about 20lbs but on a diet to slim down a little (he definitely loves food and thats the way to his heart) has been neutered and updated on shots, and we think about 7 years old give or take. We would love to find this sad little man a nice quiet adult home and someone who will give him time and space to bond on his terms. Meet Lola! This very sweet and spunky girl is very skittish and distrustful with new people, but has really blossomed in her foster home. We believe she is a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix and has many personality traits that we think will appeal to the Chihuahua people out there. This girl is not only beautiful, but is also housebroken, crate trained and knows several commands. She'd also be perfect for those hot summer months and cold winter months, since though she loves to be outside, she's not super fond of lengthy walks. Once she chooses her person and bonds she's silly, playful, cuddly and loyal, the perfect work from home companion who loves to sit on your lap and help with whatever you are doing. She's not a fan of other animals, children, or strangers especially men although she's been able to make friends with them if they ignore her at first and offer lots of yummy treats- intros have to be slow and on her terms. This little beauty is Abita! She is a 8 week old female Dachshund mix. She is expected to be under 25lbs when she is full grown. She is super friendly and is very social. She loves to snuggle and wants to be with you at all times. She still has lots of puppy energy and loves to romp and play. She is such a little lover and she never turns down a good belly rub. She would make the perfect lap dog! Although she is great with children, due to her small size we are not comfortable placing her in a home with children under the age of 7. She would make a great addition to just about any family! She is currently located down South at our sister shelters and available for pre-adoption. We do transports to NJ once a month.
