** Current Location: South Korea** Meet Lylla :) She rides so well that if you open the car door she gets in by herself, and she doesn't get car sick at all. If you like traveling she would make a really good buddy! She loves playing with other dogs, running in the park, cuddles, kisses, sleeping with you, walks, hikes, and delicious food (fruit, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, cheese, meat) and treats! Personality. She is affectionate, full of energy, loves to have fun, and adapts well to new things. She likes both people and dogs and cats (she'll play with them). She also loves to play in the park or the mountains. When she's excited, she'll purr to show her excitement. She loves to be held - she wants to fall asleep with you in your arms. She's the best dog ever!

Story
Say hello to your new lap dog! Meet Cherry, a 6-year old, 17-pound Dachshund mix who is a lazy, well-behaved, affectionate meatball! This quiet, chill, sweet-as-pie pup is great with everyone he meets, including kids and other dogs. Cherry is a quick learner and has been making great progress with both his leash manners and housebreaking skills. He is good at using his pee pads and he has no issue being crated. In fact, Cherry sometimes enjoys hanging out in his crate when he’s just relaxing at home. Cherry has a few toys he likes, but probably his favorite thing to do is cuddle. He’d cuddle all day long, if he could. He is thrilled anytime he can sit in someone’s lap or be held in any way. He often falls asleep soon after being in someone’s arms. This delicious dude is a total love bug and a professional snuggler! And he’s sooo soft! If traveling around with your pooch is your thing, Cherry is your guy. He’s comfortable on a subway, in a car, or being toted around in a bag! And everyone will smile at him because he’s that sweet adorable face that you can’t help but love! Cherry would do best with another doggie friend in the home. Cherry is ready to share the simple pleasures of life with you. A perfect companion dog, there’s no doubt he’ll be the Cherry on your ice cream sundae! Story
An oldie but a goodie! Introducing huggable lovable Angie, a 19-year old, 11-pound Dachshund who, naturally, has certain issues that go along with the aging process…but man-oh-man, she makes it worth it and she still loves life! Angie is a diabetic, a condition that is well-managed by her daily, easy-to-administer insulin injections. Her eyesight is basically shot and she’s essentially deaf too, but hey, her heart is happy, her mind is sharp, and sense of smell is spot-on! Super mellow and couch potato-y, nothing much fazes Angie. She gets along well with everyone, including other dogs, and loves snuggling up to anyone who is kind and gentle while being pet and caressed. Angie is fully housebroken, she doesn’t shed much, and she almost never barks. She eats like a champ and never refuses a treat. In fact, her appetite is so good, Angie can be sleeping like a rock in her dog bed, but the minute she senses kitchen activity, she’ll immediately wake up and be right there! Oink oink oink! If you have a thing for sweet seniors, please consider giving Angie a home where she may live out her final chapter wrapped in love, warmth, and tenderness. She asks for so little and will give you everything she’s got…and then some. Story
Meet Hankyul🩵 * Human Interaction : Love people! Might get a little frightened by strangers, sudden approach or males. Take your time approaching him and he will become affectionate 🥰 * Dog Interaction : May get over excited by other dogs. He might bark or tries to run towards them but he will get better over time and practices * Separation Anxiety : None at all! Stays by himself well * Potty Training : Good with both indoor and outdoor. If you put a pole indoor, he will do his business nearby. May make a mistake in the corner once in a blue moon. * Hygiene : Really great with taking bath. Little sensitive with the sound of dryer so, it is better to towel-dry him. * Walk : Loves going for a walk! He might pull on his leash by getting too excited during the first part of his walks. He is still practicing and getting better. * Carsick : He gets a little nervous in the car. He is good with 2-hour distance 💌Special Notes💌 * Mastered "Sit", "Down" * May get too excited by other dogs and bark while on the walk, but he does not bark at home even when he is excited or stimulated. It is better if there is a fence between him and other dogs. * Needs practice with loud noises, especially iron-related sounds. Is slowly shifting in sensitivity as he receives training in desensitization through gradual exposure to sound stimuli.

Story
Estimated full-grown size: 40lbs  This puppy is joining Social Tees on 4/13 and is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program starting that day. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight-up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Level of dog ownership experience needed: INTERMEDIATE: As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, but bare minimum the adopter must have TONS of time and patience. Raising a puppy can be a lot of fun, but it’s also tremendous work. Puppies’ personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they’re a year old as their bodies and brains develop, so an active lifestyle and the ability to adapt to a pup’s evolving needs are a must. We strongly urge professional dog training with a rewards-based trainer from the get-go. Adults only or kids ages 8 and up – all puppies go through a mouthy, rambunctious phase and often accidentally hurt children when playing. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding of the kind of temperament and exercise requirements this dog may have as an adult. Energy level  MEDIUM: Very young puppies sleep and nap a lot, but their energy level skyrockets when they become teens (4 months to around a year). As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day at a minimum. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Potty trained? Working on this skill. Puppies under 12 weeks old are often on track with their wee pad skills, but they’re too young to walk outside in public NYC areas yet because they haven’t finished their puppy vaccine series. Puppies older than 12 weeks are usually learning to do their business outside. Potty training takes a lot of patience, consistency, and cleanup.  Crate trained? Nope. None of our new puppies have been formally trained, but many of our foster parents/adopters choose to crate train. It can be a great way to keep puppies safe and teach them independence. Social with dogs? Yes. Some puppies are shy, others are bold, but all have the potential to be taught healthy socializing skills. It’s a huge part of raising a puppy and must be done carefully. How they interact with other dogs depends largely on how their humans help them learn to.  Social with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision) Yes… but most puppies are not a great match for a home with kids under age 8 because they go through intense mouthy play and rambunctious phases and often accidentally hurt young kids while playing. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.   Social with cats? Yes. Almost all puppies have the potential to be friends with a cat. It’s on the adopter to know their cat’s temperament and preferences and to teach their puppy respectful manners.  Mouthy play:   High! All puppies go through phases where they chew your stuff and grab your hands, arms, and feet… puppies naturally explore the world, play, and test boundaries with their mouths. (It also happens when they’re teething.) Their teeth are super sharp though, so it can be a very painful phase for humans and other animals in the home. Proper training, outlets, and socialization are key. Leash manners: None. :) Will need to learn this skill.   Separation anxiety: MEDIUM: Most puppies have some level of separation anxiety as they learn to self-soothe. Often they cry the first 10+ minutes when they are left home alone or in a crate. Consistent training and alone time are crucial. Medical status: Up to date on their DHPP and Bordetella vaccines (for dogs under 4 months old, adopters will need to finish the DHPP vaccine series and administer the Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age) How this dog ended up with Social Tees: Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full-grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc
