Story
Meet Serenity! Some dogs earn their name. Serenity is one of them. This 12.5-year-old, 12-pound wire-haired Dachshund who came to us as one of 42 dogs, and despite everything she's experienced—including recently having an eye removed—she greets each day with quiet joy and an endless capacity for love. She's healing beautifully from her eye enucleation and hasn't let it slow her down one bit. If Serenity could choose how to spend every day, she'd choose your lap. She's the definition of a love bug. Every morning when her foster opens her crate, Serenity runs over with kisses, her tail wagging a mile a minute, ready for belly rubs and back scratches before anything else. Once she's decided you're her person, she'll happily follow you from room to room, always wanting to be close. Even when you think she's fast asleep, she'll pop up the moment you move—just to make sure she doesn't miss out on being by your side. Serenity is wonderfully curious, too. She enjoys leisurely walks, taking her time to stop and observe the world around her. Everything is still new, and she likes to investigate at her own pace. Because she only has vision in one eye and is mostly deaf, she can startle if approached from her blind side, so she'll do best with a family that understands her unique needs and gives her a gentle heads-up before reaching for her. She is house trained, puppy pad trained, crate trained, walks nicely on leash, and is about as easygoing as they come. She rarely barks and has no resource guarding or behavioral concerns. She's simply a sweet senior who wants to love and be loved. One of the most endearing things about Serenity is her quiet determination. While she's a little hesitant leaving the apartment for walks, once she builds up the confidence to step outside, she's happy to explore. Watching her overcome those little moments of uncertainty is incredibly rewarding. If your idea of the perfect companion is a little shadow who adores cuddles, gives the sweetest kisses, and will happily spend the day by your side, Serenity is waiting to meet you. Meet Tonka! Some dogs want toys. Some dogs want treats. Tonka just wants you. This 9-year-old, 12-pound Dachshund was rescued from a home along with 41 other dachshunds. Tonka is the definition of a Velcro dog. His favorite place in the world is in someone's lap, and if there isn't one available, he'll happily search the house until he finds one. He's happiest when he's close to his people, soaking up belly rubs, cuddles, and all the affection he can get. His foster watched him instantly bond with their 8-year-old son. The two became inseparable almost overnight. Tonka followed him everywhere, slept snuggled beside him each night, and even tried to follow him onto the school bus one morning because he couldn't bear to see his little buddy leave. That's just who Tonka is—when he loves you, he loves you with his whole heart. Tonka is wonderfully sweet with people, gets along well with other dogs, walks nicely on leash, is house trained, and travels well. He's not much interested in toys, preferring a warm lap and quiet companionship over anything else. Like many rescue dogs, Tonka is looking for a family that understands building trust takes time. He forms deep attachments to his people and thrives in a home that offers patience, consistency, and a predictable routine. Once he feels safe, his affectionate, loyal personality shines brighter every day. Tonka has experienced a lot of change in a short period of time, and he's looking for adopters who are committed to giving him the time he needs to settle in and truly feel at home. We know his perfect match is out there—someone who will let him adjust at his own pace and love him for the incredibly devoted little companion he is. If you're looking for a loyal best friend who believes there's no such thing as too many cuddles, Tonka is waiting to meet you. Meet Delilah & Limbo! Some dogs find comfort in a favorite blanket. Delilah and Limbo find comfort in each other. These 10-year-old Dachshund littermates (turning 11 on August 24th) have spent their entire lives side by side. Rescued together from a home with more than 60 dogs, they've faced every change, every new experience, and every fresh start as a team. And honestly? They wouldn't have it any other way. When it's time for bed, you'll find them curled up together, often sharing the same bed without a care in the world. When it's time to eat, they're happy to share space and enjoy every bite, making up for years of uncertainty. When something new happens, they look to each other for reassurance. They are the perfect yin and yang. Delilah is the social butterfly of the duo. She loves being around people and has a funny little habit of rubbing her back against your legs or hands to give herself a back scratch while soaking up affection. She's cheerful, affectionate, and always interested in being part of whatever you're doing. Limbo takes a little longer to warm up. He's more of an observer at first, quietly taking everything in before deciding you're worthy of his trust. But once he settles in, his sweet and gentle personality shines through. His foster describes him simply as perfection. Together, they're remarkably easy companions. They quickly learned the routine in foster care, sleep quietly through the night, and are making excellent progress with house training. They use wee-wee pads and are learning that going outside is pretty great, too. Like many dogs experiencing home life for the first time, they still have the occasional accident, but they're trying hard and improving every day. These two get along beautifully with other dogs of all sizes and are currently living with canine housemates ranging from tiny to over 70 pounds. They're also wonderful with children and have shown themselves to be resilient, adaptable, and incredibly loving. What makes Delilah and Limbo so special isn't just their bond—it's their outlook on life. After spending nearly 11 years as two of more than 60 dogs, they could have been fearful or withdrawn. Instead, they have embraced every opportunity for love, comfort, and connection. They don't ask for much. A soft bed. A steady routine. A family to call their own. And most importantly, each other. Delilah and Limbo are looking for a home that understands some bonds are too special to break. In return, they'll fill that home with twice the love, twice the companionship, and countless heartwarming moments. Meet Titan! Titan is a 14-year-old, 13-pound Dachshund who is proof that it's never too late for a fresh start. He was rescued alongside 41 other Dachshunds from a home with more than 60 dogs, and he is now looking for a quiet, loving family where he can spend his golden years in comfort. This sweet senior is completely blind and has some mobility limitations, but don't let that fool you—Titan still enjoys exploring the world around him at his own pace. His favorite place is a secure yard or grassy outdoor space where he can safely wander, soak up the sunshine, and take care of his business. Busy city sidewalks aren't really his thing, and he would do best in a calmer environment where he can feel safe and relaxed. Titan is a gentle, easygoing companion who spends much of his day snoozing in a cozy bed. While he's more of an independent guy than a cuddler, he has started seeking out affection as he settles into foster care and enjoys being pet and spending time near his people. He's wonderful with other dogs and gets along with everyone he meets, including children, adults, and seniors. One thing Titan absolutely loves? Mealtime! Despite having no teeth, he never misses an opportunity for a good meal and approaches every dinner with enthusiasm. His future family should be prepared to continue working on his housetraining routine, as he is still learning a consistent bathroom schedule and may have accidents. Thankfully, Titan is incredibly cooperative and tolerant with handling, happily accepting baths, medications, and routine care. Titan is looking for a patient, understanding home that can accommodate his special needs and give him the comfort, consistency, and love he deserves. In return, he'll be a loyal, grateful companion who is simply happy to have a safe place to call home. Meet Delilah & Limbo! Delilah and Limbo are 10-year-old Dachshund littermates (turning 11 on August 24th) who have spent their entire lives together—and after everything they've been through, these twins are looking for a home where they can stay side by side forever. Rescued alongside 40 other Dachshunds from a home with more than 60 dogs, Delilah and Limbo have amazed their foster family with their resilience, adaptability, and sweet dispositions. Despite the major changes in their lives, they settled into foster care almost immediately, quickly learning household routines and showing everyone just how wonderful they are. These two are the definition of a bonded pair. They sleep curled up together or side by side every night, often sharing the same bed without a fuss. They eat their meals together, happily sharing space and making up for lost time with every bite. They truly are the yin to each other's yang—different personalities that fit together perfectly. Delilah is the more outgoing of the two and absolutely loves affection. One of her favorite things is rubbing her back against her people to give herself a little back scratch while soaking up attention. She's affectionate, cheerful, and always wants to be where the action is. Limbo is a bit more reserved when meeting new people, but once he settles in, his sweet nature shines through. His foster describes him as pure perfection—a gentle, loving boy who simply needs a moment to feel comfortable before showing his affectionate side. Both dogs love being close to their people and will happily follow you from room to room just to be part of whatever you're doing. They are wonderful companions without being demanding and have quickly become cherished members of their foster home. Delilah and Limbo are fantastic with other dogs of all sizes and are currently living peacefully with dogs weighing over 70 pounds as well as a smaller canine companion. They're also great with children and have proven themselves to be easygoing, social dogs who fit seamlessly into family life. They are making excellent progress with house training and will use wee-wee pads when needed. Like many dogs adjusting to life in a home for the first time, they still have the occasional accident, but they're learning quickly and have already come so far. What makes Delilah and Limbo so special isn't just their sweetness—it's their incredible spirit. After years spent as two of more than 60 dogs, they've remained trusting, loving, and eager to embrace every bit of kindness that comes their way. These resilient seniors are ready for the next chapter of their lives: a home filled with soft beds, good meals, gentle affection, and a family who understands that some bonds are simply meant to last forever. If you're looking for a pair of devoted companions who will fill your home with love, laughter, and double the Dachshund charm, Delilah and Limbo are waiting to meet you. Story
**Please note this is pet is currently out of town pet but we will transport this pet to you when adopted. All fees listed include transport fees.** Meet Offa — a tiny Dachshund mix with a gentle soul and the sweetest little face. At around 3 years old and just 8 pounds, Offa is a quiet, sensitive boy who is learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. When Offa first meets new people, he can be a little shy and unsure, but with a little patience (and a few tasty treats!), his soft and loving personality begins to shine through. Once he feels comfortable, he enjoys companionship and gentle affection from the people he trusts most. Watching him slowly come out of his shell is incredibly rewarding. Offa is crate trained and does very well in his crate. He is still working on his house training and leash skills, so he’ll need a family willing to continue helping him build confidence and learn routines at his own pace. He responds wonderfully to kindness, patience, and positive reinforcement. This little guy has already been through quite a journey. When he came to us, he was covered in ticks and fleas and clearly had not been given the care he deserved. Thankfully, he received a full veterinary workup, and his bloodwork came back negative for any tick-borne illnesses. He also had a dental cleaning, so his teeth are now squeaky clean and healthy! Offa is looking for a calm, loving home where he can continue to blossom and finally experience the comfort and security every dog deserves. With a little time and understanding, this sweet boy will make a loyal and loving companion. Interested in becoming a forever home for Offa? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and appreciate you working with us.For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public in Oklahoma. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ/OR, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!
