Story
Annie, a lovable furry friend currently up for adoption through Fur Sisters, is a delightful companion who has quickly found her place in a warm, loving foster home. Eating well and feeling comfortable, Annie's contentment is evident in her behavior and interactions with humans. She possesses an extraordinary aptitude for human companionship, effortlessly adapting to various individuals, including men, women, and children. One remarkable trait of Annie is her exceptional house-training skills. Rather than having accidents indoors, she cleverly communicates her need to go outside by playfully indicating her intentions. Recognizing her need for a bathroom break becomes a fun opportunity to engage in playtime. It is a testament to Annie's intelligence and eagerness to build a strong bond with her future owner. Furthermore, Annie exhibits promising signs of trainability. Her ability to sit and stay demonstrates her willingness to learn and follow instructions. While on walks, she generally maintains a calm demeanor and does not pull excessively. Annie's cooperative attitude reflects her desire to connect and be a well-behaved companion. However, it is important to note that Annie does carry some emotional baggage from her past experiences. During a test with a submissive dog, she initially appeared comfortable. Unfortunately, Annie's suppressed trauma resurfaced as she started trembling with fear. This behavior reveals that she needs an owner who understands and empathizes with her past and is willing to invest extra effort in her socialization with other animals. Given Annie's history, she would thrive in a home as an only dog, with someone experienced in handling dogs and committed to providing the attention and patience Annie requires. An individual who can offer a secure environment and dedicate the necessary time and effort to gradually socialize Annie with other animals would be a perfect match. If you are up for helping Annie overcome her past and building a trusting relationship with her, she will reward you with loyalty and unconditional love. With your capable guidance, Annie has the potential to blossom into an extraordinary companion and a cherished member of your family. Consider opening your heart and home to Annie, and together, embark on a journey of healing and companionship.Apply at www.fursisters.org today!Additional information:We are not a shelter. All of our dogs are at private fosters. We only set up meets with approved adopters. If you want to meet our adoptable dogs, many pups will be at Brewhound for Fur Sisters Friday most Fridays from 6-8 pm.Adopters are chosen based on the best fit for each dog, it is not first come, first served. We do not 'hold' dogs. Please note: we have many dogs who are not yet listed as available due to the availability of volunteer time to post or because they are puppies. Story
Sneezy is a wonderful dog and would make a great addition to any home. He has lots of love and energy and gets along well with all dogs that he has met so far. He is very curious about people and other animals and greets everybody with his exuberant Wiggle Butts with built-in whip. He is kennel trained but needs a kennel that is non-destructible because he prefers to be out with his people instead of in his kennel. When out and left alone he has not caused any damage. He is very food motivated and loves his treats and has such a gentle mouth. He loves to sit in your lap and lay in your bed and basically just be near you. He loves to snuggle and play with his toys and is content just being with you. He would do well with children except that he gets so excited and his tail tends to hurt when it strikes which happens quite often with his wiggle butt. He would do well in a house with another dog as he loves to play and wrestle even though he is heartworm positive and should not be active. It is hard to slow him down and keep him calm because he is so happy to just be. Fur Sisters pays for the Heartworm treatment, even after adoption! Meet Bailey! Are you someone who cherishes the joy of food, cuddling, and plant vibing? Then we may just be the perfect match! My days are filled with leisurely strolls in the afternoon, car rides to the beach, and sunbathing in the great outdoors! After a day of adventures, I crave nothing more than cozying up to my humans. I have a gentle and laid-back nature, making me an ideal companion for those seeking a calm and relaxing presence in their lives. While Im gentle and laid-back, I am best as an only dog and not a fan of feline company. I am highly passionate about food, my foster parents consider me a foodie. They take me with them to restaurants and breweries, so I too can join in on the fun, and Im always on my best behavior! So if you're a fellow food enthusiast, our culinary escapades are destined to be truly delightful. Perhaps the term 'plant vibing' has piqued your curiosity. Should you still be wondering, let's connect and set up a date. I'll be more than happy to share my affinity for thriving in the presence of plants and all the positive energy they exude. There's something truly magical about surrounding oneself with lush greenery and immersing in the serene vibes it brings.I eagerly look forward to meeting my FURever humans soon. Let's create incredible memories and forge an unbreakable bond.Apply to adopt at www.fursisters.orgAdditional information: We are not a shelter. Story
This is Stella. Please read the whole post before applying to adopt. She is a very special girl with special needs.Stella came to us from living on her own, not knowing the comfort of a home or even a human touch. She had to be trapped for her safety. She was in Union County, we saw her sweet little scared face and immediately stepped in to take her in to rescue. She is currently in foster with me, Kelly, the founder of the rescue. She is a lot of work but 100% worth the effort. Stella is around 10 months old. She came to us in December right before Christmas. She was living outside on someone's property and had to be trapped due to her fear of humans. She has made progress here and loves our dogs. She looks to them for comfort and guidance. She is very playful with them now that she is settled in. She is still very scared of new people and things. We are working on that, but it's a slow process. She was pretty much feral when she came to us. She is housebroken now here, but that may take time in a new environment until she is comfortable again. She sleeps in bed with us now, and that's where she is most comfortable with humans. She likes pets and belly runs when in bed. When out in the house, she still is very timid and will run if you try to pet or pick up. She is getting better with that too..but slow going. I'm trying to introduce her to more people to her used to it. She is a flight risk, so a very secure fenced yard is required. We are starting to work on getting her used to a leash, but that still terrifies her. So we are taking it slow in the backyard for now. I'm happy to chat more about her and her needs via phone call with anyone interested and willing to put in the work. Our vet thinks she is a mini aussie mix of some sort. She is adorable and sweet..just very scared and needs someone willing to have patience with her. Serious inquiries only, please. She will stay with us until the perfect home is found for her. Dogs like Stella are hard, but they teach us so much in the process of teaching her about the world she doesn't understand yet.
