Story
Beautiful Maya came back to us after being adopted as a puppy. Her adopters were sad to see her go, but we promised them that we'd find Maya the perfect home. Maya is a very fearful gal who will require multiple meet and greets with her adopters to truly feel comfortable. We believe she'd do best in a quiet home without kids under 14. Once Maya warms up to someone, she is a gentle lady who loves cuddles. She loves fetch and bacon-flavored treats. She has some resource guarding tendencies that would be further discussed with any potential adopter. Story
Bru is a special boy who needs a special home. It can take him a while to warm up, but once he warms up to his people, he is a wiggly, playful boy with lots of love to give! Bru LOVES playing fetch and playing in the pool. Bru is potty-trained and very, very sweet. Bru can be somewhat shy with strangers, and he can be easily frightened by loud noises or sudden movements. Because of this we are hopeful that his future home will be a quiet one without children under the age of fourteen. Bru does have a history of resource guarding which will be discussed further at the time of adoption. Due to his history of resource guarding, he may do best as only pet. Story
Meet Baine! Baine is a very handsome mastiff/lab mix. He's a BIG BOY! Baine has primarily lived outdoors in the past, so he needs a home that will show him the luxuries of indoor living and be patient with him as he learns the ropes. A big backyard is definitely a plus! Baine is a little shy but once he warms up he is a gentle and wiggly guy who loves kisses. He can be a little timid around men but he LOOOVES the ladies! Baine is playful with the dogs at the shelter, so we think he'd do well with another dog-savvy pup who doesn't come on too strong. We think Baine would do best in a quiet home without children under 12 due to his nervousness. If this gentle giant seems like a good fit for your home, drop an application today! Story
Lil' Pepper came to us as a stray from local county animal control. Unbeknownst to us, she was pregnant! She went to a foster home where she gave birth to the cutest pups. They are now weaned and looking for their forever homes and so is "Pepper". She will be spayed on Aug. 18th and will be ready shortly after that. Pepper is a bit shy at first, but all this girl wants is to be close to her person, get lots of belly rubs, and all the love and attention she can. She walks well on a leash and loves to go for walk, chase a ball, or just lounge around. Pepper did come to us Lyme disease positive. Pepper is estimated to be around 2 years old. **Please note, this dog is in a foster home and not at our shelter.** **To start the adoption process, please complete our online adoption application at our website http://www.henrycountyhumanesociety.org. Story
Maxx is a lovable medium-high energy pup who LOVES fetch! Anyone who can throw a ball is a friend of Maxx. Maxx would thrive in a home that can give him plenty of exercise and space to run. Maxx also displays behavior that indicates he has been under socialized, so he'd need a patient person who can introduce him to the outside world slowly and surely. Maxx is so ready to learn and ready to trust. He really just needs a patient angel to show him some kindness. New situations and people can be frightening for him, and because of this, we believe he'd do best in a home without children under 12. Maxx cannot go to a home with small dogs, cats, or other small mammals. If Maxx sounds like he'd be a good fit for your home, send an application today!
