Story
Murphy is a giant cuddle bug. He is the sweetest dog you will ever meet. He is a 4 year old Akita Lab mix who thinks he is a 100 lbs lap dog!! Murphy came to me a few weeks ago when his owner had to take on more hours at work. We have two dogs already (who he gets along well with) and are not looking to add to our home at this time. Murphy is extremely intelligent and loves to make friends. He is great around all dogs, cats, kids big or little!! He loves to be around people and loves adventures!

Story
Hello, Ellie Mea has been a big part of our family for the last five years. We rescued her as a puppy in 2018 and have another dog who she is very close to. The two have been inseparable however we are saddened to have to find new homes for both due relocation. She does best with a playmate. She is extremely playful with other dogs and loves the game of chase. She is fast and agile and rarely can be caught. Not a good dog for cats however. I think she would catch them! She is incredibly smart. She watches you and can figure things out like opening doors so make sure to lock them. She is silly and cute and lovable. When she sleeps she likes to get under a blanket. She would do best in a home with a fenced in backyard as she needs to run and play often. She also loves dog parks. Looking for someone to love and care for her as much as I have.

Story
Titus, a senior 12 year old lab mix, is as gentle and sweet as can be! He is looking for the perfect home to live out his senior years. He currently lives with three kids (the youngest of which is 11). While he lives, and does well with, his foster family’s resident female dog, he does not do well with most other dogs. He also can not go to a home with cats. Titus absolutely loves every single person he’s ever met and he shows his excitement in the funniest ways! His ideal home would have someone who is home most of the day, although he can be left for several hours and do just fine. He loves being with people, but is also just as happy to nap in another room…just don’t be surprised when he shows up to check on you after he wakes up. Titus gets spurts of silly playfulness and enjoys playing with toys, especially bones and toys that make noise. He has a couple of habits his foster family would like you to know about. He likes to sleep on couches and dog beds. He loves going outside but, due to arthritis, he prefers not to go for walks. Also, he likes to carry his food bowl around room to room when he's eating…you can always find him by following the trail of spilled food. He'd do best if his bowl is stabilized so he can't move it. And when he meets a friendly person, he’ll walk in between their legs and stand there until he is petted. He’s a big dog and it is funny to see, but it can be rather unexpected to others! He came to his foster family with this habit and he is not interested in breaking it, it’s how he shows his affection! And speaking of food, Titus came to the rescue extremely overweight. His previous owner, who had him for about five months, worked very hard with him and helped him lose ten pounds. He has lost an additional 13 pounds while with his foster family. He is also a little picky with the food he will eat. Through trial and error, we've discovered some that make his 'favorite' list.Recent medical records state that Titus has arthritis, and he recently started taking medication. The medication is definitely helping him. He can do some stairs like when going outside, but he currently lives in a two story house and will not go up an entire flight of stairs. He also has some lipomas, likely due to his old age. He has had these checked out by the vet and no action/treatment was recommended for them.If you think you'd like to meet Titus to see if he'd be a good fit, you can check him out on the KAR's website. His foster parents are BValade.    The adoption fee for Titus is $200.Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Titus. Dogs have been heartworm tested and if appropriate (age and time of year) all dogs and puppies are given heartworm preventative. All are given medication to rid them of roundworms and checked and treated for fleas & ear mites, if needed. Dogs and puppies are given distemper vaccines and depending on how long the pet has been in foster care, additional distemper vaccine(s) may be necessary and the expense will be incurred by the adopter. Any canine over 4 months of age is brought current on the Rabies vaccine. Additional vet care may have been provided depending on the particular animal's needs. Dogs are individually priced as above. Please note that we do not ship dogs and we cannot guarantee that a long trip to see a foster dog will result in an adoption or taking the dog home on that day. It is in the best interest of pooch and owner to enroll in an obedience class soon after adoption. After all, you have a lot to learn about your new friend. Story
Nova means new and this amazing dog is ready for her new forever home. Could it be you? Nova just like her namesake is a bright star with powerful energy. Her loving spirit will melt your heart. She just wants to be with her people. She is both a snuggle bug and a playful, funny girl. She knows basic commands and has been a great addition to her foster family. She gets along with her foster brother, they play and share the house space well, but would need to be cat tested. She loves walks, toys (the tough kind), and time with her humans. She is treat-motivated and has continued crate training and leash work in her foster home, of which she has made enormous progress in a short time. She would need a home committed to continuing this work as well as addressing her allergy issues through diet and over-the-counter allergy medication. Her foster parents are Emily Z.    The adoption fee for Nova is $250.Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Nova. Story
If you're looking for a human toddler in pittie form, Jenny's your girl. Jenny loves suckling her blankies, wearing jammies, and playing with toys. When she wears herself out, she loves cuddling next to you on the couch or following the sunspot on the floor. Jenny sometimes acts demanding like a human toddler, but like a human toddler, she is learning how to use other tools to advocate for herself, like a quiet groan to ask for something instead of a loud bark. Jenny is good with cats, and she would love a playful and laid-back dog companion (a meet-and-greet is required). She has a sweet friendship with another available KAR dog, Gretel, and they love to romp and have occasional sleepovers. Jenny is good with kids. Because of her rambunctious play style and the fact that she's a bowling ball with legs, older kids are the best fit for her. She would love a fenced-in yard. Her foster parents are Kathi V.    The adoption fee for Jenny is $300.Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Jenny.
