Story
Dilly's story is absolutely heartbreaking. Dilly had lived her whole life with her owner up until June 21, 2024. It was a Friday night when we got a call from the police department, who sent an officer out to do a welfare check on a person. Unfortunately when we arrived on scene, we were notified that Dilly had been inside of her home with her deceased owner for an unknown time. Obviously Dilly was very traumatized, scared, and shutdown when she arrived at the shelter. Every time we tried to reach out to Dilly to pet or love on her she would yelp as if we hurt her, even though we didn't actually touch her. Dilly spent months in our care before she finally let us pet her. Now Dilly has improved a lot but needs a foster or an adopter. We were recently told by a family member that Dilly is good with kids and other dogs, but not cats. Dilly is slow to warm up at first but is a total love bug once she trusts you. Dilly spent her entire life up to this point with her owner, so that's partly why she's slow to warm up. Click the link to adopt: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CACO/Dog

Story
Say hello to Dougie (pronounced “Doogie”) , a 3-year-old Boxer/Pug mix who’s as cute as his name! This little guy’s past wasn’t easy—he came to us as an owner surrender after living almost entirely in a crate where he ate, slept, and even pottied. But those days are long gone, and Dougie is finally getting to be a dog! Now, he’s a happy, playful boy who loves his toys—especially balls! He’ll proudly carry one everywhere he goes and can entertain himself for hours. Dougie has a confident, sometimes dominant personality, so he does best with more easygoing dogs. His current best friend is an energetic but submissive female about his size that likes to hang with him but does her own thing like he does! Dougie is also a proud graduate of our STAR Inmate Training Program, where he learned his basic obedience and showed just how smart and eager to please he really is. This adorable, bouncy boy is ready to trade his crate for a cozy home filled with love, laughter, and plenty of toys to call his own. Apply to meet him today at carerescueok.org!   ##1791790##

Story
OG's story is a sad one, so be sure to grab the box of Kleenex. OG came to us as a stray. He had been running in and out of traffic on a very busy road in town for months. We chased him through a few different neighborhoods, before finally catching him with hotdogs one day. We were informed by some people in the area that he at one point had a home and a dog friend. Unfortunately OG and his buddy were constantly getting out and running loose. They would eventually wander back home, until they got into trouble one day. His buddy had wandered out onto a frozen pond one wintery day. His buddy had fallen through the ice, and unfortunately did not make it. OG had been seen roaming the streets afterwards, as if he were trying to find help or wondering where is friend had gone. Now OG is a smart, he loves to play fetch and go for walks, but he will not play in the sprinkler/pool when it's hot out. He does know how to sit as well. OG is a very shy and cautious guy, which is understandable given his past. He will need someone who will be willing to give him plenty of time to adjust to a home life, that will play fetch, and have a secure fence for him. Story
Meet Brando! In his short life he's already been let down one too many times. He was originally a pup at Tulsa Animal Services where he was originally adopted from. Not even two weeks after being adopted, he was thrown from a vehicle in Catoosa city limits. That's how we came across Brando. He's an energetic and rambunctious pup who LOVES to play. He does need some work on basic manners, but he has the desire to learn as he's very food motivated. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots. Story
Meet Chase, a one-year-old, maybe heeler mix, who’s come an incredible distance from his feral beginnings. What was once fear has turned into trust, and he’s learning every day that people can be kind and loving. Chase is crate trained with no accidents and enjoys quiet time in his safe space. He still needs a little help loading into the car (he prefers to be gently lifted), and his favorite “game” is running just out of reach outside—it’s his playful way of saying, “Catch me if you can!” Once you get down on his level, though, he’ll come close for shy kisses and even ask for belly rubs. Chase is looking for a patient, gentle family who will keep helping him blossom into the happy, confident dog he’s meant to be. Apply to meet him today at carerescueok.org!   ##2469131##

Story
Meet Ginger, a 1½-year-old Patterdale Terrier mix weighing about 35 pounds—small in size but bursting with spirit! Her story began in heartbreak when she was abandoned, heavily pregnant, near a lake and gave birth under a thorn bush to eight puppies—all while she was still a puppy herself. Despite it all, Ginger proved to be an incredible mother, protecting and nurturing her babies until each found their forever home. Now it’s Ginger’s turn to be the one who’s loved. This high-energy, playful girl has graduated from our STAR Inmate Training Program, where she learned her basic obedience skills and showed just how smart and determined she is. Ginger bonds deeply once she trusts you, and when she does, she’s the most loyal, affectionate companion you could ask for. She does best with another dog in the home—someone to play with and help her feel at ease. After everything she’s overcome, Ginger is ready to share her boundless love, energy, and zest for life with a family who will give her the forever home she deserves. Apply to meet her today at carerescueok.org!   ##1899823##
