Story
Meet Emlyn, the incredible tri-pawed superstar! Em is a 57-pound Aussie mix - she may be missing a leg, but she’s overflowing with confidence, charm, and joy. Fully house-trained and wonderfully sweet, she’s the kind of dog who fits right into home life and makes it better from day one. Outside is her happy place—she loves to romp, zoom, and play in the yard, especially when there’s snow to be conquered, proving daily that three legs don’t slow her down one bit. And once playtime is over? She’s perfectly happy to settle in and chill on the couch. Life, after all, is about balance. She’s friendly with other dogs in passing, but at heart she’d really shine as your one-and-only. In her previous home, she showed resource guarding around food, toys, and treats, so she prefers to keep the good stuff to herself. She does well with cats and would be happy to share her home with a feline friend. An adult-only household is preferred, ideally with adopters who appreciate both her playful spirit and her laid-back side—and who can provide clear boundaries and a predictable routine. If you’re looking for a resilient, joyful, and devoted companion who knows how to play hard and relax harder, this snow-loving tripod is ready to be your loyal couch-and-yard buddy. Since many of our adoptable dogs are in foster homes, appointments are highly recommended to ensure the animal you are interested in is currently at the shelter. Please call or e-mail the shelter to set up an appointment to meet and adopt! Our adoption fees include the following: all of our dogs/puppies are current on vaccinations (DHPP and Rabies if over 3 months of age) at the point of adoption, dewormed, heartworm tested and current on preventative, microchipped, treated for fleas/ticks and are spayed or neutered. Our large dog adoption fee is generally $175 + tax. Our small dog and puppy adoption fee is generally $300+ tax. Adoption fees may vary in special circumstances. Due to space limitations, we do not hold dogs. Because we are on a busy street, we require that all dogs leaving the shelter be in a carrier or on leash. All pets remain up for adoption until an approved application is processed and their adoption fee paid.

Story
Meet Athena — a wise and wonderful senior lady with a heart of gold. Athena is a gorgeous red German Shepherd–Pitbull mix who has perfected the art of taking life at a gentle pace. She’s friendly with other dogs and enjoys the company of calm, respectful canine friends. While she’s not looking for a high-energy household or constant activity, she does appreciate the occasional playdate to keep things fun. Athena would thrive in a mellow, predictable home where she can relax, feel safe, and enjoy the quieter side of life. She’s a sweetheart with people and has that lovely senior soul that just wants to be near her family. Because of her strong preferences, Athena needs a home without cats or small animals. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who is past the chaos and ready for comfort, Athena might be your perfect match. Let her spend her golden years being cherished — she absolutely deserves it. Since many of our adoptable dogs are in foster homes, appointments are highly recommended to ensure the animal you are interested in is currently at the shelter. Story
Meet Matteo, a 2-year-old red and black Shepherd mix weighing around 76 pounds. Matteo is still learning potty training, but he does a great job keeping his kennel clean. He can be a little nervous around new people, but he’s eager to learn and highly motivated by food. Matteo doesn’t know any commands yet, but with patience and positive reinforcement, he’s ready to start his training journey. Because of his past time on the run, Matteo would thrive in a home with a securely fenced yard and plenty of supervision. We aren’t sure how he does with children, cats, or other dogs, so a dog meet-and-greet is recommended if you already have a canine companion. With the right guidance and a patient family, Matteo has the potential to be a loyal and loving companion. Since many of our adoptable dogs are in foster homes, appointments are highly recommended to ensure the animal you are interested in is currently at the shelter. Story
Meet Taz! At 8 years old and about 78 pounds, Taz is a senior who’s ready to settle into a loving home. He is neutered and medically up to date, so he’s all set for his next chapter. Taz is sweet and friendly with people and enjoys human companionship, making him a wonderful candidate for someone looking for a loyal, affectionate companion. Taz is still working on his potty training, but with a consistent routine, patience, and positive reinforcement, he has all the potential to truly blossom. He wants to do well and will benefit from a home that can provide structure and understanding. When it comes to canine companions, Taz is selective with other dogs, so he may or may not be able to live with another dog. A meet-and-greet would be important to see if it’s a good match. We’re also unsure how he is with other animals or young children, so a calmer home environment may be the best starting point for him. If you’re looking to open your heart to a devoted senior who still has plenty of love to give, Taz might just be your perfect match. Since many of our adoptable dogs are in foster homes, appointments are highly recommended to ensure the animal you are interested in is currently at the shelter. Please call or e-mail the shelter to set up an appointment to meet and adopt! Story
Say hello to Zoey! — a 2-year-old, 13.4-lb Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix with a big personality packed into a perfectly portable size. Zoey is super friendly and brings all the happy puppy energy wherever she goes, she'll need someone who can keep up with her ability to play the day away. She’s fond of men, but really just loves people in general and is always ready to make a new friend. When she gets excited, she does the cutest little snort that will absolutely make you laugh. She’s potty trained and already knows some helpful words like her name, “no,” “potty,” and “treat” (her favorite one 😉). Zoey is comfortable being picked up and handled, and she seems like she’d do well with regular grooming — a great plus for a pup with her fabulous coat. If you’re looking for a small dog with a big heart, playful spirit, and lots of love to give, Zoey might just be your perfect match. Story
Willow is a 7 year old labradoodle. Don’t let the flecks of gray fool you, she still has tons of energy. She has some hunting experience and loves to explore a field. She loves the water and once sprained her tail from swimming so much in one weekend. She can coil herself into the world’s coziest little ball when it’s time to sleep. She has been nervous around fireworks in the past but more recently has been ok with them. She’s potty and crate trained and comfortable with an e-collar. She is good on a leash as long as she’s wearing her harness. Willow is great around dogs and other people. She is friendly toward younger children but tentative about playing with them. We have 2 very young kids and can no longer give her the attention and exercise she deserves. She would do well in a home of someone who enjoys outdoors or with older kids who can keep up with her. She would love another dog that can match her energy for playtime.
