Story
Meet Josephine! Josephine was found in a garage in upstate New York before she came to stay with our family in D.C. She is about a year old and she loves to play! She loves wand toys, puff balls, and anything that moves and bounces. When she's in an extra playful mood, she will even fetch. She is very sweet with people and greets everyone she meets as if she's known them for years. She never uses her claws on her humans (unless she is kneading) and loves to snuggle on laps. She is pretty wiggly and does not like being held. She is very curious and will explore all nooks and crannies of a space. She also loves to look at windows and snooze in big piles of blankets. She is very food motivated, so she will need to live in a space where food is not easily accessible. She is also has some trouble with our litter set up (we use pine litter), but we are working on positive reinforcement. She's a wonderful girl! Let me know if you would like to learn more :)

*Meow* I`m in a foster home! Email my foster caregiver to meet me: jerrykepes@gmail.comTori is gorgeous! She has such a magnificent furry coat that just makes her look glamorous. Tori came to HRA from another shelter in hopes of being adopted. She would love to be settled in a gentle home where she is treated with kindness. Soft beds, great meals, and warm sunbeams to soak in are things she would adore. And she needs a good person to brush her fab fur. Meet this darling today!

Story
Leo is a sweet and shy cat. He is an indoor cat and would not go outside. If he is new to you, he will try to hide from you. Once he gets to know you, he will come and rub on you. He does not like loud noise and will run away from stranger. He is not a lap cat and he does not like to be held. However, he will not claw or bite you if you grab and hold him on. He will let you do that for a minute or two and will try to get away, so you should let him go. Leo is quite a unique cat. He only eats dried food, especially chicken flavor. He knows when he wants to eat and will stop when he eats enough. He does not see a half full food bowl as empty but will keep going back until it is empty if you do not fill it up. He is very careful every step he moves, and he will try not to knock anything down like other cats. His toy is mostly rubber bands. He likes to drink from a water fountain. He would be the best companion to you and he is low maintenance.

Story
Bean was rescued at just 4 weeks old after being abandoned by his feral mom. Since then, he has grown into a loving, playful companion with a personality bigger than life. He adores following his people around, curling up for snuggles, and even trying to sneak tastes of human food. In 2023, Bean had a urinary blockage that is now fully managed with prescription urinary wet and dry food, which he must stay on. He is extremely affectionate but is not adjusting well to life with a new baby and new business and has started peeing on belongings out of stress. Bean would thrive in a calm, child-free home with either a friendly female cat, a laid-back dog, or as your only pet. He has always been indoors and should remain that way. This is a heartbreaking decision for us, and we hope to find him a loving home where he will be cherished for the sweet, loyal, and entertaining companion he is.
