Story
After fostering for years, this beautiful fluffy boy stole my heart. He came to me with trust issues and a tendency to react very quickly when stressed or startled, but in the 3ish years I've had him, he's mellowed dramatically, to the point that he will voluntarily come onto my lap and cuddle. He is still considered a "high arousal" cat, and will need a home with people who will pay attention to his cues and give him space when he needs it. He has had urinary blockage issues and had surgery to shorten his ureter, but requires a prescription diet. Archie thrives on predictability and consistency, and prefers an uncluttered space to play where he is the only animal. He makes a very good, if insistent, alarm clock, and will welcome you home with chirrups and demands for food and attention.

Story
Charlotte, DLH, 3mo Charlotte is new to the rescue and we can't wait to find out more about them. Wilbur, Templeton, and Charlotte need to be fostered together. If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-cats.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats. Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Cat specific vetting: Rabies, FVRCP. Cats are tested for FIV and when age appropriate, but not when born to a FELV/FIV negative mother in foster care. Kittens have age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. Kittens born in care to a negative mother will not receive a FIV/FeLV test. An adopter will need to agree to cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. They will not be considered as singles.

Story
Male, DLH, 5 years old Personality: Calm, friendly, independent, and snuggly. Say a friendly, "meow" to sweet Shepper! A love bug, through and through, floofy Shepper is all about the snuggles and head scratches. On the flip side, he is also content lounging in his own space. He really is the best of both worlds. Shepper's looking for a warm and welcoming shoulder to perch on as he observes the outside from a window. He has slept around his foster's neck before-- you couldn't find a more adorable scarf; though this one will never go out of style! Apply today to adopt Shepper! ______________________ If you are interested in meeting a cat, we require an adoption application. Story
Male, DLH, 1 year old Personality: friendly, high energy, outgoing, snuggly, talkative Theodore doesn’t need much- just some cuddles and a spring toy. Could you be the person who hooks him up? He likes cuddling up next to his foster- especially at night. Theodore especially loves belly scritches. If he sees you coming home at the window, Theodore will perk right up and jump down to greet you at the door. Theodore also knows how to play fetch- if you throw a spring toy he will sprint after it (no matter how tired he is!). He'll then triumphantly walk back with the spring in his mouth and drop it by his foster’s feet.
