Story
Meet Squeaks - Squeaks was born on March 13, 2024. Squeaks is a bit timid and shy of new people and relies on his brother, Mittens for support. Squeaks is still very young and with time and patience he will be able to build up his confidence. Once he is comfortable, he will come be near his people. Squeaks is young enough to learn to live with other cats, but he is not able to live with dogs. Squeaks will need to go to a forever home with his brother Mittens. Squeaks would do best in a home where someone was around a good portion of the day to help him overcome his shyness. Kittens inherently do best in pairs. This kitten has age-appropriate vaccines, is microchipped and will need to be neutered at 6 months of age. The adoption fee for this kitten is $150, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the kitten is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 fee will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized. We will provide information on this process during the approval process. ***Please note that the first step in the process is to complete our nonbinding application (it does not commit you in any way but allows us to help you to find a great match). For questions, email kelseym@homewardtrails.org. HOW TO MEET THIS CAT: This cat is in a foster home. To meet him, please complete the adoption questionnaire. LOCATION: Foster home ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Kelsey, kelseym@homewardtrails.org ADOPTION FEE: $170. This fee INCLUDES neuter, vaccines, and microchip. Ask us about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, and other discounts! HOW THIS ANIMAL IS WITH: CATS: Bernard has always lived with other cats and would benefit from having a confident cat around. DOGS: Bernard can be a little shy and doesn't like quick movements so would prefer a home without a dog. KIDS: Because he's a little shy, he would prefer a home without kids. KNOWN LIKES: His cat bed, Churu, breakfast time, dinner time, quiet naps, looking out the window. KNOWN DISLIKES: Loud noises, being picked up. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Bernard spent most of his life outside and has been adjusting well to life as an indoor kitty. He is shy to start and needs a quiet space to feel comfortable and settle in. Once he's bonded with his human, he'll follow them around and loves massages. He's a big fan of Churu treats and never skips a meal. You can usually find him living the life of leisure he earned, snoozing in the sunshine. He recently had a dental and doesn't have any teeth left so you won't have to worry about any more dental expenses! He's looking for a quiet home to spend his retirement in. He'd do well with another confident cat to keep him company. When he came to us, he was matted and needed to be shaved so his hair is growing back. He normally has long hair. HT ADOPTION INCLUDES: Spay/Neuter A series of FVRCP vaccines, rabies vaccine, and deworming Microchip - lifetime registration with no fees EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free physical exam with Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care within 30 days of adoption and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) within 14 days of adoption. Story
Breed - Domestic Longhair Neutered Male Weight - 10.5 lb Estimated Age - 5 years If you are interested in adopting this cat, please fill out our cat adoption questionnaire at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HTAR/Cat. For questions, email saufenka@yahoo.com. HOW TO MEET THIS CAT: Adam can be met in his foster home. LOCATION: Foster home ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Shana, saufenka@yahoo.com ADOPTION FEE: $170. This fee INCLUDES neuter, vaccines, and microchip. Ask us about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, and other discounts! HOW THIS ANIMAL IS WITH: CATS: He has been ok with some calm cats who gives him space, but he's likely best as a single cat DOGS: Dogs are NOT a match KIDS: Is fostered with small children and does well with them. KNOWN LIKES: LOVES food and soft pets, especially on top of his head and under his chin. He likes to sleep near you or on you as much as possible. Looking out the window. Soft blankets. KNOWN DISLIKES: Being apart from his human(s). Stagnant water. Belly pets. Are you looking for the ultimate fluffy lapcat? Look no further! Adam is a handsome, friendly boy who has had a very rough life so far. He was found on the streets of Saudi Arabia and the woman who found him thought she was taking him to the vet to be euthanized, he was in such a bad state. They fought for him and he recovered! When he was strong enough, he was neutered, vaccinated, and had a dental to address some bad teeth. The rescuer then flew him to Homeward Trails where she knew we would continue to help him thrive and find an amazing home. Adam is indeed a friendly boy and we're so thankful he pulled through! Once in the US, Adam had a second dental procedure to remove the majority of his upper teeth which were causing him a lot of pain. He was shaved down to the skin due to the severe matting he had when rescued but his fur is growing back and he is becoming nice and fluffy. Adam tested positive for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus). FIV in cats typically causes a weakening of the cat's immune system. It cannot be passed to people or dogs. An FIV-positive cat can live well with an FIV-negative cat as long as neither cat is a fighter - or if the FIV-positive cat has no teeth. (FIV-positive cats commonly have severe dental disease, which often means it is necessary to remove all their teeth.) FIV cats can live long, healthy, normal lives with good medical care and diet. Read more here: https://resources.bestfriends.org/article/fiv-cats-feline-immunodeficiency-virus-faqs. In Adam's case, he can be sassy with the other cats and is happy to be your one and only. Adam is a super sweet boy who loves head scratches and will follow you around your home as he always wants to be with his humans. Do you have the love to give Adam while he continues on his recovery path for a bright future ahead? HT ADOPTION INCLUDES: Spay/Neuter A series of FVRCP vaccines, rabies vaccine (if old enough), and deworming Microchip - lifetime registration with no fees EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free physical exam with Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care within 30 days of adoption and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) within 14 days of adoption. A portion of EVERY ADOPTION fee supports spay/neuter for animals in under-resourced communities. BE A FOSTER: Save a life: http://www.homewardtrails.org/foster-a-pet/dog-and-cat-foster-program.
