Story
My name is pookie, and I am told that i'm a pretty classy posh, little girl with some pretty fabulous, long fur and gorgeous coloring.  You see, I am a 7-year-old kind of teenage girl who is looking to find a pretty ritzy new home and owners, who are going to appreciate my snazzy looks. Just think what the neighbors will say with me lounging everyday and sunning myself in your window. I also love to play and make you smile. If you were interested in a pretty girl like me, please contact ccrtennessee@gmail.com for more information.January 24, 2025, 8:23 pm

Story
Would you consider adopting Beau with Mystic? Beau is a quirky little guy. I acquired by complete coincidence. At the time I really wanted a black cat. While my mom was giving away her cat she had at the time to the shelter, she met a lady that was giving away a 8wk old tuxedo cat. He was the only black one in his litter. So she gave him to my mom and shipped to me. Beau is a charmer and VERY chatty, he regularly talks to his owner and to any new person he meets. He regularly voices his feelings, his needs, and sometimes his opinions. He loves to roll around on the ground, doing his “clown tricks” as I call them to get your attention. He loves meeting new people and he gets friendly very quickly.

Female, DLH, 6 months old Peach is new to the rescue and we can't wait to find out more about them. If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-cats.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats. Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Cat specific vetting: Rabies, FVRCP. Cats are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a FELV/FIV negative mother in foster care. Kittens have age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. Kittens born in care to a negative mother will not receive a FIV/FeLV test. An adopter will need to agree to cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. They will not be considered as singles.

Story
Beautiful long hair 5 year old boy, fixed, housebroken. Rafiki is very playful and active. He loves toys and running around the house. He always uses the litter box and does not scratch furniture. He is good about self grooming and does not shed. I recommend putting him on a hairball food. He does get along with other cats, just one at a time. The other cat should be docile as he will be the dominate cat. He does not get along with dogs or children, they stress him out a lot. Rafiki is a nice cat to have around but lives on his terms. He is not cuddling and does not like to be picked up or pet a lot. He will lay next to you on the couch and will play. I recommend an experience cat owner who can take the time to get him acclimated to his new environment. He can be tempermental at first but calms down overtime and can make a nice companion. I would love to find Rafiki a calm home where he is loved, spoiled, and understood.

Please contact Lauren McCarty (laurenmc@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Dustin needs a very special forever home!DUSTIN NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Dustin     Best Guess for Breed: Domestic Long Hair    Best Guess for Age: 5 years - Estimated DOB 10/31/20    SEX:  male Approximate Weight:  12 lb 7 oz 1/10 Coloring: Gray Tabby Type of Hair: Long Special Consideration: Dustin is positive for Feline Leukemia (FeLV) so he will need a home with no other cats or other positive cats.  Currently Living at:  Shelter -- needs an adopter to secure a freedom ride I am Looking For:  My forever home! Hi- I'm Dustin - a gorgeous kitty. .  I won’t ask for much...just some love, cuddles and lots of toys so I can run and play and be my amazing self. What My Foster Says About Me:  coming soon! What the Shelter Says About Me: Dustin is quite possibly our most loving and affectionate cat. He is definitely a favorite among all the volunteers! Dustin showed up at our shelter parking lot one day and introduced himself to anyone walking by. The volunteers could not help but be concerned - you could feel almost every bone in his body. He was so emaciated but also so beautiful and sweet! He would let us pick him up and hold him like a baby, get knots out of his beautiful long fur. He got along well with other cats. To the relief of his fans, space became available and Dustin was brought inside, tested, and vaccinated. We were sad to learn that he is positive for Feline Leukemia. It is not Leukemia like humans have, but it is contagious and can be passed to other cats through saliva or body fluids - grooming, fighting, sharing dishes, litter boxes... So, unfortunately, due to his Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) diagnosis, Dustin must be the only resident cat or have FeLV housemate(s). Right now he is living in his bachelor pad - alone. He went from 8 lbs to 12 lbs. He has the health care and food he needs as well as all the volunteers' love. But a great cat like Dustin needs more! Dustin needs his very own family! We have faith that there is a great home out there for this handsome grey tabby with eyes that look into your soul and some real snuggle skills. However much love you give Dustin, he (and we) promise that he will give ten-fold in return!  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for adult cats will be $200 ($350 for two cats adopted together).
