Story
NOTE: Goldilocks needs a foster home with experienced cat caretaker. She is a good candidate to foster with the potential to adopt. Goldilocks Personality Goldilocks is a very friendly, confident kitty. And, of course, a gorgeous and colorful fluffy girl. She has only been in our care for a very short period of time and has already had four trips to the vet to address health issues - now resolved - and spaying. So many trips to the vet can, of course, be upsetting for cats. As she is settling in, she is becoming very playful. Goldilocks doesn't hide when in a new place or when meeting new people. However, she was a little 'on guard' for the first week in our care. She loves to greet you with lots of purring and rubbing up against you. But she is cautious when you reach for her and may swat or nip you if she feels uncertain. This behavior has quickly subsiding as she settles in. We know nothing about her background and don't know what she's been through. Every day she is getting more comfortable with people and we think once she is settled and knows her humans won't hurt her she will be a truly wonderful companion. Although she may always be a little sassy! Type of Foster Home Needed Goldilocks needs an experienced cat caretaker who understands that she needs to feel comfortable before being approached and petted. Just let her come to you and she greets you with loving affection - rubbing up against you and non-stop purring. Because she has been a little defensive, we are seeking a patient and caring foster home with no children. Goldilocks seems receptive to the other young female cat in her current foster home - although they are separated by a screen door. They can see each other but not interact directly. Goldilocks is curious about the other kitty, but unfortunately the other cat becomes really aggressive when Goldilocks approaches the door. Goldilocks just backs off - looking puzzled and just wanting to be friends. So a friendly cat in her foster home could be a plus for her in settling in.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Please see our adoption guidelines at  https://spcanova.org/about-us/adoption-policies/. July 9, 2025, 12:51 pm

Story
Despite his name, there’s nothing salty about this sweet boy! Nicknamed “Duuude” in his foster home, Salted Caramel is the definition of laid-back charm. With a calm, go-with-the-flow attitude, he’s happy to go from chasing toys to doling out affectionate boops before settling in for some well-earned cuddles. Whether he’s snuggled up with his sister Mint Chocolate or curled against a human—big or small—Salted Caramel is always up for love and companionship. He’s friendly, confident, and irresistibly cuddly… the kind of cat who makes every day feel like a cozy weekend. Salted Caramel and Mint Chocolate are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. Their sweet sibling connection and relaxed, loving energy will bring warmth, fun, and a whole lot of heart into the right forever home. To apply to adopt Mint Chocolate and Salted Caramel, fill out an adoption application (https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LDAC/Cat) or email questions to cat.adoptions@lostdogrescue.org.

Story
If you appreciate the fluffier things in life, then you should meet Sherbert! He is SUPER... sweet, loving, playful, gentle, soft, handsome. We call him a velcro-kitty as he loves to be where his people are. This biscuit maker with the big paws would love to show off his fancy, floofy tail and give you lots of head-butts. leg rubs and purrs! Estimated to be 5 mos. old, Sherbert is seeking a forever home where he will have another kitten companion to share the good times with. He is a rough 'n tumble active player who enjoys games of chase/pounce. Once tired out, he is a charmer who is ready to settle in on a lap. While he gets along with other cats, he likely would do fine with a gentle dog too. He arrived at a local shelter as a stray and we're amazed that no one came looking for him. Sherbert is up-to-date medically, microchipped. Meet him in Arlington, VA Local adoption only. Posted 7/2/25
