Story
We call her Shoe, like the old woman who lived in one and had too many kids, because apparently she was allowed to breed indiscriminately for 10 years (at least) and was living on an open porch before I took her and 4 kits in. She is spayed now, of course, but she's partially deaf from horrifying ear infections that I cleaned up and have since resolved. She's much calmer after having been spayed and is looking for a quiet home where she can relax and find love. She really does want to be friendly, and she sleeps on a corner of my bed when my other cat is not around.

Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Meet Chatham: A Special Cat Looking for a Patient, Loving Home Chatham is a smart, sweet, and cautious 5-year-old girl who needs a patient human to help her feel safe and loved. Though she’s shy at first, especially around new people, she communicates her boundaries clearly and blossoms when given time and understanding. **Chatham’s Personality:**   - Enjoys head pets, but only if she gives permission. - Doesn’t like being held or sitting on laps, and prefers her own space. - Loves playing with feather toys, especially her mini-fishing pole with a fluffy feather—her favorite toy that she can bring to her new home. **Her Quiet and Expressive Nature:**   - Chatham rarely meows, except at the vet. She uses hissing to communicate when she wants to be left alone. - Despite her cautious nature, she shows affection with headbutts when she’s happy and comfortable. **Chatham’s Comfort Zone:**   She has a bright pink blanket and a box that she adores, which help her feel safe. She loves sitting in boxes turned on their side, giving her both a view of her surroundings and a sense of protection. **Her Ideal Home:**   Chatham would thrive in a quiet, patient home where her signals are respected. She’s learning how to accept love after experiencing neglect, but with the right person, she can become a loving companion. She may hiss when she’s uncomfortable, but it’s her way of communicating—don’t take it personally! When she’s happy, she’ll reward you with her sweet headbutts. **Why Adopt Chatham?**   Chatham is a special cat with a lot of love to give. She needs time, understanding, and a patient adopter who will let her come out of her shell at her own pace. With care and attention, she’ll be a loyal friend for many years to come. Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston **Meet the Herb Litter: Basil, Parsley, and Dill!** PLEASE NOTE - kittens must go to homes either with a sibling or two, or must be adopted to homes with another playful cat already in residence.  We will be unable to respond to inquiries of those who do not fit this description. The Herbs are 3 month old kittens all unique in personality but share an undeniable charm that will fill any home with love and laughter. Here's a little about each of them: **Basil (male tuxedo)** is a shy boy who has blossomed into quite the spunky little guy! At first, he kept to himself, but now he’s full of energy and loves being the center of attention. He’s always up for belly rubs—seriously, he could let you rub his soft little tummy for hours! He’s a curious, funny kitten who enjoys playing with toys (and your feet!) and has recently started using his deep meows to get your attention. While Basil takes a bit of time to warm up to new people, once he trusts you, he’s all in and will keep you guessing with his daily antics. **Why adopt Basil?** If you’re looking for a playful and affectionate kitten who loves belly rubs and keeps you entertained, Basil is your guy. Watching him grow from a shy kitten into a confident little explorer has been incredibly rewarding, and you’ll get to experience even more of his fun personality as he continues to come out of his shell. --- **Parsley (male long-haired tabby)** is the snuggle bug of the group! He’s the first to greet you with his high-pitched meows, begging for pets and attention. Parsley loves head rubs and will happily chill on your lap while purring up a storm. He’s mellow, sweet, and the most lap-friendly of the three. While Parsley enjoys playing, he’s just as happy being close to his humans, making him the perfect cuddle buddy. **Why adopt Parsley?** If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate kitten who loves lap time and will shower you with love, Parsley is the perfect fit. He’s social, playful, and has the best balance of fun and relaxation! --- **Dill (female short-haired tabby with white socks)** is the cautious and curious sibling. She’s a little shy at first and will take time to trust new people, but once she feels comfortable, her playful and adventurous side shines. Dill loves to wrestle with her brother Basil and explore every nook and cranny she can find. She may still be wary of human touch, but with time, she’s started to enjoy pets and head rubs. Her independent yet loving nature makes her a perfect companion for someone patient and understanding. **Why adopt Dill?** If you’re looking for a kitten who’s a bit of a challenge but so worth the wait, Dill is the one for you. Her shy exterior hides a spunky, curious kitten who just needs a little time and patience to show her full potential. --- Each of these kittens has their own adorable quirks and traits that make them special, and they would thrive in a loving home. Whether you adopt one, two, or three, these kittens will bring joy and endless entertainment into your life! Story
MEET ATTICUS!Atticus’s story starts out sad. He was abandoned in his home and discovered when the new owners moved in. This handsome guy had undergone a lot of upsetting changes. The good news is that Atticus is now coming out of his shell and learning to trust again. A slow approach is still needed, but he’s now gaining confidence through training with treats and some great play time. Given his background, we think Atticus needs a quiet, adult-only home with a patient, cat-experienced owner who can set him up in a room of his own for a period of time. Atticus will need to settle in at his own pace, but we think with love and patience, he’ll blossom into a wonderful companion. Based on observations here at the shelter, we think Atticus would like to be the only cat in his new home. For more on Atticus, please come to Boston to have a discussion with an adoption specialist. Please note, Atticus will require multiple meets before going home. Atticus is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been neutered, microchipped and been seen by our vet team. For more information on Atticus or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements. MEET SEVEN! Would love a cat friend!Seven came to us from an overcrowding situation, meaning he has spent most or all of his life surrounded by lots of other cats, but not as much time with humans. Because of this, he is more shy than your “typical” cat. He has just left the only home he has ever had and now he is trying to adjust to shelter life, which is understandably difficult for him. This will also be true of his transition to a new home; it may take a lot of time, patience, and trust for him to adjust and feel comfortable and safe again.Seven is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been neutered, microchipped and been seen by our vet team. For more information on Seven or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170.
