Story
We are Speedy and Dolores - a gentle 9 year pair that have lead a quiet life. I am the shyer of our duo and will need a little more time to warm up. Once I do, I love to be pet. We both have thick long coats that need some extra management. The doctor noted a heart murmur at my exam but it doesn't slow me down We'd be best in a quiet pet and child free home.

Lucy and  Nico  are a snuggly, sweet, social pair who are more interested in attention from their people than they are in each other. Lucy is obsessed with crawling into anyone’s lap and her favorite spot is laying on your chest, making biscuits and pressing her forehead to your lips for kisses. She will follow you everywhere, and is eager to be carried, babied, and get attention always.  Nico  is a calm, sweet, snuggly girl who is slightly more independent than Lucy, but still always wants scratches and attention. She will always take up the opportunity to nap next to you, and in fact spends most of her day doing just that. These two are perfect for anyone who wants a calm pair of social snuggle buddies.  Lucy loves to be pet everywhere and anywhere. For  Nico , everywhere and anywhere besides the belly. Even if you do pet her stomach, she will just gently push your hand away with her feet.  Lucy doesn’t love her back legs handled, and  Nico  doesn’t love her stomach being touched, but still, neither hate it. Lucy is a lap cat .  Nico  usually sits right next to me rather than in my lap.  Lucy loves to be held,  Nico  does not.  Nico  will tolerate it just fine but she will probably meow or growl to tell you she’s displeased. Lucy, however, will let you carry her all day like a baby and purr like crazy.  Lucy sleeps in my arms under the covers :)  Nico  likes to sleep anywhere warm, but usually with me. She loves a heated blanket. B oth love to play, especially with  a teaser toy on a stick. They like to hunt it together!  Nico  also loves catnip.  Lucy is pretty vocal, and  Nico  meows a couple times per day.  Lucy will meow when she wants something, wants attention, or needs help with something, and  Nico  will meow when she is annoyed with something or when she is excited to see you. Both will hiss at each other periodically because they like to keep their personal space from each other. Both purr like car engines, especially Lucy. Both scratch on a cat scratcher. Both use the litter box with zero issues. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances?  No. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you?  No. Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you?  Barely, Lucy once did while I was trimming her nails and she got bored of it, and  Nico  once did when I accidentally pulled on a knot while brushing her. Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)?  No. To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? Both are very social and friendly. They might react to loud noises or sudden entrances, but will come quickly out to investigate and meet people. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? Lucy loves to lay on your chest and press her forehead into your face for kisses.  Nico  is the sweetest little snuggler and will tap you with her paw to tell you to start petting her if you’re not paying attention.  Nico  also has the cutest quiet and scratchy little meow. Lucy will beg for food too, and it’s pretty funny to watch. She is like a rag-doll and doesn’t care what you do as long as you’re paying attention to her! In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? They don’t make sweeter cats than these two. They are extremely laid back, sweet, straightforward, and don’t have a single mean bone in their bodies. They are just total snuggle bugs! What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Lucy has a little bit of a sensitive stomach, so she gets carsick or throws up if you feed her too many treats in one sitting. It’s not an issue in the house once we realized we should only give her 1-2 treats at a time, and we lay a towel in her carrier in case she gets sick.  Nico  is very occasionally interested in chewing or eating things that aren’t food. I keep her away from plastic bags, electrical cords, and leaves.  Nico  also has trouble keeping up with her long fur, and while she always keeps clean, she can get knots or mats, so we brush her a little bit daily. Story
Courtesy Post: I call her Shoe, like the old woman who lived in one and had too many kids, because apparently she was allowed to breed indiscriminately for 10 years (at least) and was living on an open porch before I took her and 4 kits in. She is spayed now, of course, but she's partially deaf from horrifying ear infections that I cleaned up and have since resolved. She's much calmer after having been spayed and is looking for a quiet home where she can relax and find love. She really does want to be friendly, and she sleeps on a corner of my bed when my other cat is not around.

MEET PEMBERTON! Check Out His Video!Pemberton has been shuffled around a couple of times in different homes so he is looking for a new family who wants to let him be his couch potato self though out the remainder of his days, into his retirement. Pemberton`s last home was busy and active but it doesn`t sound as if he enjoyed it so, he would like a change. We think Pemberton would enjoy a quiet, adult-only home as the only pet where he can peacefully look out the windows and watch the world. We say this because Pemberton has been noise-sensitive here in the shelter and has been burrowing under his bed, poor guy. Pemberton`s new family will need to get him on a vet-supervised weight loss plan so he can hopefully avoid any weight related health issues that can come with age. Come meet Pemberton at our Boston branch.Pemberton is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been neutered, microchipped and been seen by our vet team. For more information on Pemberton or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements. Story
Ninja is approximately 10 years old and is in great health. He is bonded with Lightning whom he has raised from a kitten. He comes from a loving home where he has lived his whole life. He is kind and affectionate and gets along well with other cats but has never been around dogs. He spends most of his time outside and only comes in to eat and nap. He has to be rehomed because his owner died and the house is being sold and I am at capacity with cats at my condo. I am hoping to find Ninja and Lightning a new loving home where Ninja will be allowed to come in and go out whenever he likes because being outside is everything to him. If there was a pet door for unrestricted access to the outdoors that would be ideal. I should add that on rare occasions he urinates on the floor when he can't get out which is why I am hoping his new owners are as patient as they are loving. All his shots will be up to date if he is adopted.
