MEET MARTHA - Check Out Her Videos!Martha is a super model! She enjoys showing off her beauty! Silly Martha gets some major zoomies, often running down a long hallway with glee (much like a grown-up kitten) and loves to have someone chase after her! She also enjoys a fun string toy play session and getting her paws all over her favorite scratching post (see her videos). Diva Martha isn`t always up for lots of hand pets but loves attention! Martha will do the petting and will rub legs, looking lovingly into our eyes. Her adopter should have a relationship with a vet so Martha can follow up on her medical needs. If you are looking for just one cat (again to be your only pet) and think that Miss Martha is the girl you have always been looking for - please come in to visit her at our Boston branch. We promise she won`t let you down! Martha will require multiple meets before going home. Martha is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed, microchipped and been seen by our vet team. For more information on Martha or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements. MEET ROCKY - Loves to be brushed!Isn`t this guy gorgeous?! Here at the shelter, Rocky (who is declawed) is always up for visits and will rub gently on your hand to say hello. Rocky loves to be pet all over and is especially found of being brushed. If you play your cards right, he may even roll over to show you his beautiful and um, rather large belly! In his previous home, he was described as an affectionate couch potato who occasionally enjoyed sitting on laps. Rocky has been known to play a bit rough, so we think an adult-only home would be best for him. As for that big belly, don`t tell him we said this, but Rocky needs to lose weight. So his new family should be up for helping him get safely to his fighting weight under the guidance of a vet.Rocky is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been neutered, microchipped and been seen by our vet team. For more information on Rocky or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. Story
Winter is a stunning senior lady! This 12-year-old is independent and likes to keep to herself most of the time but that's not to say that she's not curious about what's going on around her. She just prefers to watch from a distance. She loves mealtime and treats, and chasing her ribbon wand toy.  Unfortunately, Winter tested positive for both Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). There is no cure for FeLV and we don't know how much longer we have with this sweet lady! If you'd like to learn more about FeLV and FIV in cats, please refer to the links below: https://www.vet.cornell.edu/departments-centers-and-institutes/cornell-feline-health-center/health-information/feline-health-topics/feline-leukemia-virus https://www.vet.cornell.edu/departments-centers-and-institutes/cornell-feline-health-center/health-information/feline-health-topics/feline-immunodeficiency-virus-fiv Winter also had some mammary tumors that turned out to be grade II carcinomas. While the tumors were completely excised, there was vascular invasion which means that there is cancer floating around in her bloodstream waiting to land and take root somewhere. Winter is a hospice cat and we're looking for a loving and patient home for her where she can continue to live out the rest of her days in peace. With a slow and proper introduction, Winter would do okay with another FeLV positive cat. She is currently being fostered in Brighton.
