We believe Dottie to be a strong Dutch Shepherd mix with those ears! All of her 9 pups inherited those ears too. Her pups have already gone into rescue. Now it's Dottie's turn for a forever home. At first , Dottie was scared of everything and everyone, hiding in the dog house whenever her foster was present. She would even take her food dish into the dog house to hide to eat. She LOVES other dogs! She now plays, polices the yard and goes in and out of the house. She crates very well and walks on a leash. She Is sweet, still a little shy, but loves to be petted and loved on. She needs slow introductions to new people because of her shyness, never has she shown any aggression. Great temperament and very good inside dog! Very easy-going but protective. I have gotten severely worse with my Fibromyalgia, which is limiting my movement. I got divorced, so my financial situation has drastically diminished. Max needs an owner who likes to go on hikes, jogs, and takes him to the dog park. It’s very unfair for him that I can’t give him the quality of life he deserves.Max is 3 years old and has his shots, but I have not been able to take him to get his rabies booster.

Amelia is a 2 year-old mostly black Dutch Shepherd that weighs 51 pounds and came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 5/18. She is definitely striking with her glossy coat, sleek figure and quirky ears. Being at the shelter with all the noise makes this sweet girl nervous, but easy to see she wants to be friends. She even came up to me for some ear scratches. She sits on command but was not interested in a treat. She is very sweet, alert, gentle, well mannered, energetic and walks well on a leash. She didn`t show interest in the other dogs barking at her, yet we do always ask if there is another dog in the home please ask the shelter for a dog test. She is a precious girl that dreams of finding her own loving home soon!

Meet Marla!Marla is a very smart 1-year-old German Shepherd mix with a great balance of energy and independence. She’s excellent on a leash and looks forward to her daily walks, then happily burns off extra energy with zoomies in the backyard. She’s fully potty trained, rides well in the car, and settles nicely at home.Marla enjoys playing with other friendly dogs, but she is not cat-friendly and would do best in a cat-free home. She knows several basic commands, is a fast learner, and genuinely wants to please her person, making her very responsive to redirection and training. She went through a brief nippy phase, which has been successfully redirected to appropriate chew toys—she loves her toys and can entertain herself well.She’s a wonderful mix of affectionate and independent, enjoying time with her people while also being comfortable doing her own thing.Marla is still gaining confidence around new people and can be selective with men. She may bark defensively if someone approaches her too quickly or tries to touch her before she’s comfortable. However, when introduced properly, she does well—some men are able to walk her and give her treats without issue. She does well at dog-friendly restaurants and stores as long as strangers respect her space and don’t attempt to pet her.Marla is currently working on confidence-building, socialization, and desensitization to new people, and she continues to make progress. With continued positive training and a calm, patient home, she’s expected to keep improving and truly shine.
