Story
Meet Chepo: A Sweet Senior Gentleman Looking for a Forever Home! 7yr old, 93lb Chepo was surrendered to the shelter in May because his family was moving out of the country and unable to bring him. Though anxious in this new stressful environment, volunteers immediately found him to be quite friendly and after just a few outings, Chepo preferred to be near his handlers and other people. With other dogs in the yard he was described as being gentle and dainty, social, and mingling and chilling with other dogs. Our team at Dog Coalition fell in love with him and thanks to a dedicated foster, we were able to spring him out in June. In his foster home, Chepo is described as being very sweet and affectionate, coming up for pets from his foster mom. He is independent and will keep himself occupied with a chew toy, but prefers to stay close to people while doing so. Chepo is responsive to his name and comes when called, and will also move out of the way when asked. He is generally very attentive and is learning crate training and leash training, even as an older fella. We get the sense that he used to live in a yard, so we’re very proud of this guy’s progress learning to be a wonderful inside dog as well! We believe Chepo would be a great solo companion or fit in nicely to a home with other well-balanced dogs. What You Should Know About Chepo: - A soulful big old boy with a great heart, looking for his perfect forever home. - Gentle and sweet, needs balance and a calm place to continue to decompress and get used to a different kind of life. - Would be a wonderful companion to someone looking for a chill older dog to hang out around the house with. Chepo would love a couple of calm short walks a day and maybe the occasional outing. To meet Chepo, please fill out an adoption form on dogcoalitionla.org/adopt and follow @dogcoaltionla for updates!

Story
Meet Sly: The Handsome Shy-Guy Looking for a Forever Home! 1 year old, 60lb Sly found himself at the shelter in June of 2025. He was very nervous in his kennel at first, wary of people and generally very timid. But with time out in the yard volunteers noticed he opened up, being playful with other dogs and becoming more comfortable with people thanks to the help of his dog friends. Our team at Dog Coalition LA was able to get him into a foster home in September thanks to a dedicated foster! In his foster home, Sly is becoming more comfortable with his foster parents and other people. Though still nervous, we are seeing him come out of his shell and learn what it feels like to be a dog out in the real world. He loves spending time chilling and napping in his crate, which also serves as a safe space for him if he’s feeling overwhelmed. Sly is potty trained and learning excellent leash manners during his daily walks and at our weekly walk classes. Sly is fostered in a home with 2 other dogs who help him to build his confidence and sense of security. For this reason, we require that he go to a home with at least one other dog. We’ve seen him be gentle, playful, and social with all kinds of dogs. We also believe he would do well in a home with cats! What You Should Know About Sly: - This young fella is looking for a forever home willing to take time and space with him, help him feel safe, and build his confidence as he continues to mature into a wonderful guy! - Sly prefers slow, steady, and calm introductions. His sweet and shy temperament coupled with a handsome charm is sure to win you over! - Friend of dogs and cats alike! Looking for a home with at least one other canine companion. To meet Sly, please fill out an adoption form on dogcoalitionla.org/adopt and follow @dogcoaltionla for updates!

Story
Meet Bodhi – Your Future Best Friend Bodhi is a 5-year-old, 75lb German Shepherd with a heart as big as his paws. Born on March 9, 2020, he’s in that perfect sweet spot of life—mature, well-trained, and ready to be someone’s loyal companion. Bodhi is the total package: calm, balanced, and incredibly dog-savvy. He joins pack walks several times a week and is a beloved role model among his canine peers. He gets along beautifully with all dogs and is a huge asset to his pack walker thanks to his calm, respectful energy. This boy has had extensive training since puppyhood. He’s housebroken, crate trained, e-collar trained, loose-leash trained, has solid recall, and knows the "place" command. His temperament is thoughtful and grounded—active and engaged, but never hyper or over-the-top. True to his shepherd nature, Bodhi is deeply loyal and tuned in to his people. He thrives in a calm, structured environment and would love a home where he has space to roam, roll in the grass, and maybe even splash in some water (he loves water—trips to the ocean are pure magic for him). Due to his sensitivity to chaotic energy, Bodhi would do best in a home without young children. He’s great with respectful older kids (10+), and his current family is looking to rehome him only because they are expecting a baby and want to make the best decision for everyone. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with excellent manners, a gentle soul, and a heart full of love—Bodhi might just be your perfect match. Meet Nina: The Sweetest Girl Looking for a Forever Home! 3 year old, 60lbs Nina was found as a stray and brought to the shelter in July. She was immediately described by volunteers as friendly, chill, and very affectionate. In play groups with other dogs she is gentle and tolerant, preferring to hang out with humans more than engage in play with other dogs. Our team at Dog Coalition was able to place her in a foster home in August thanks to a dedicated foster. In her foster home, Nina is learning the skills and manners to be a wonderful forever companion. She is house trained and working on important crate and leash training skills. This affectionate girl is mellow, easy-going, and gaining the confidence and security that she deserves. We believe that Nina would be great as a solo dog or with a canine companion in her forever home. She is looking for a loving forever family dedicated to continuing her training and offering her stability and care. What You Should Know About Nina: - Gorgeous, 3yrs old, 60lbs, incredibly sweet - Friendly and relaxed with both dogs and people - Would thrive with a semi-active lifestyle. Nina could be a great occasional hiking or activity companion. To meet Nina, please fill out an adoption form on dogcoalitionla.org/adopt and follow @dogcoaltionla for updates!

Story
Meet Zamora: A Sweet Brown-Eyed Girl Looking for a Forever Home! At 2 years old and 60lbs, Zamora entered the LA city shelter system as a stray in February of 2025. She was understandably nervous at first, retreating in her kennel to hide. Once out with a volunteer she was immediately affectionate and more relaxed in their presence. All of her notes mention how gentle, sensitive, and sweet she is with friends and new people alike. Our team was charmed by her soft nature and with the help of a dedicated foster she exited the shelter in March. In her foster home, Zamora is her usual sweet and charming self. She likes to cuddle on or near her foster human, and is also happy to nap or chill in her crate while her foster is at work. She is greatly improving her leash walking skills in the neighborhood and at weekly walk class. Zamora is house-trained and crate-trained. Zamora is perfectly content in her foster home as the only dog, and we also believe she could do well in a home with another dog. Around other dogs Zamora has a gentle and dainty play style and is tolerant of other dogs, though doesn’t always seek play. What You Should Know About Zamora: - A young and calm shepherd mix hoping to find the perfect home. - Sweet and sensitive, brown-eyed down-eared heart-melter. - Would make a great weekend adventure buddy and chill house buddy during the work week. Balanced and flexible energy. To meet Zamora, please fill out an adoption form on dogcoalitionla.org/adopt and follow @dogcoaltionla for updates!
