Story
My neighbor surrendered the dog to Seaaca, because she was jumping the fence. I adopted her before they euthanized her. My fence is only 4 feet and I have not had a problem with her jumping it. It does not mean she won’t. She is the perfect family dog, she loves attention, really affectionate. She loves to go on walks, but she is strong and wants to lead, but she will slow down when prompted. She has been in my house at night and I have not had a problem with her going potty on the carpet. She either holds it or goes potty on the doggie pads. I have also kept her out side and she whined a little bit but got quiet when I scolded her. I think she was missing the families other dogs. Or wanted to be with me. She is very clean, so she would be a good indoor dog. And it would be nice if you had a nice size back yard.

Story
Meet FRANCO, a 2yo shepherd/malinois mix. We rescued FRANCO from the Downey shelter where he had shown up with a broken leg. He's long since healed up and he's looking for a forever home with someone who ideally has "shepherd and/or working dog" experience. FRANCO is a young, athletic dog who responds well to a confident leader. He is very loving, attentive, and loyal. He likes long walks, jogs, and he LOVES playing in water. He has been working with a trainer each week who has been teaching him and exposing him to different activities and environments and attends a small group class Check out video of him working the "lunge line" and other videos https://youtu.be/qakqEbGqKBg https://www.instagram.com/p/CZC4rD2PgvX/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CYxeijXp4zZ/ If you adopt FRANCO - he comes with a limited number of free sessions with his trainer (depending on location) to help you get off to a great start! FRANCO is about 70lbs and currently at our kennel in South Gate. He is crate-trained, house-trained, neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations. If you are in the Los Angeles area and interested in meeting FRANCO, please fill out our brief online questionnaire (copy and paste link): www.downtowndogrescue.org/adoption-questionnaire Additional Downtown Dog Rescue information email: adopt@downtowndogrescue.org or call: 818-407-4145

Meet KARMA! She's a happy 10 month old 56lbs beautiful German Shepherd that came to us from our community street program. KARMA was raised on the street where she interacted with dogs, cats, chickens and roosters. She's now at our kennel and loves playing with the other dogs, getting belly rubs from humans, and going on walks. She is friendly, takes treats gently, and is very smart and eager to learn. KARMA is still young, active and looking for a forever home where she can grow and thrive. KARMA is spayed, current on shots, micro-chipped and is working on her crate-training. If you'd like to meet KARMA, please fill out our brief questionnaire and we will get back to you. Story
Meet gentle BENSON, a 90lb, black and tan German Shepherd, who spent time at two LA City shelters before we rescued him. During his time at South LA and North Central shelters he participated in several dog playgroups and was a volunteer favorite. This handsome guy is estimated to be about 4 years old. BENSON spent time at our kennel and is currently in a foster home with another dog. He has a nice calm energy with a playful side too. Don't let BENSON's "size" deter you from meeting him. He walks extremely well on leash and takes treats gently. Benson can be a little reserved when you first meet him but he enjoys being close to people and has an affectionate, loyal personality. BENSON is neutered, micro-chipped, house-broken and current on shots. If you are in the Los Angeles area and would like to meet him, please fill out our brief adoption questionnaire at downtowndogrescue.org/adoption-questionnaire and we will get back to you. #ddrbenson

Story
Hi, my name is Olaf, and I like warm hugs. I was rescued by some nice people from a really noisy shelter. I had a few friends at the shelter, which was nice, and I am making new friends now from the comfort a foster home, which is even better. I really like women, kids and other dogs my size. I generally like everyone I meet! As I'm discovering all the new people to love and places to enjoy slow introductions help me feel safe and have a good experience. My rescue family are helping me feel confident so I can shake over any new-life jitters and fully embrace my positive future. They said they humans have to work through this stuff too, so it's all good. They also say I have the cutest ears because they bounce when I walk..I can't see myself walking, but that sure does sound cute! Let me know what you think of my bouncy ears when we meet, ok? I am an active guy, but I also know when it's time for belly rubs and snuggles. I am as loving as I am playful, we can have so much fun together! I've been learning to wait at the door before walks, to be comfortable in my crate, and I already know basic stuff like sit, come, etc. I am really smart, if I do say so myself I walk well on leash and my favorite is walking with another dog friend, like my husky pal at the shelter or my shepherd pal in my foster home. I sometimes do think I am a lap dog, but I am not so tiny after all. I will do my best to not crawl into your lap, but I do so love to get as close to my human as possible for a sweet snuggle sesh. If you'd prefer, I will also happily lay my head head on your feet when you sit on the couch. Life is best enjoyed with those you love, and I have so much love to give! So, I'm officially putting myself out there now, and I hope we can meet to see if we are a good match for each other, I am so eager to find my forever family where I can be safe and loved for the rest of my life. Here's to hoping you will pick me! Olaf is 87#, 3years old, (soon to be) neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. If you'd like to meet him, please fill out an adoption application on our website: www.liveloveanimalrescue.org

Leah IS AVAILALBE (updated 05-08-2024).To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Leah, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=22329&name=LeahLeah came to us a terrified, shut down, feral dog whom animal control had confiscated from a very bad situation. She was so shut down, it took a long (long!) time to get her to allow any type of interaction with humans. We spent month after month earning her trust, socializing her, and teaching her to overcome her many fears. Around 6 years old now, she moved from the training facility into a foster home and is doing fantastic, but will need a special adopter. At first, she was scared to enter the house, the tile scared her, and it took coaxing for her to enter. Leah now seeks affection, is playing with toys, plays with her human foster, is totally comfortable being inside, crate trained, potty trained, and is learning that the world isnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t such a scary place. She went to the beach for the first time and loved it!While she&#39s your normal, energetic Maligator in her foster home, she is still figuring out the world outside of those doors. She spends time every day being exposed to new things, but when she&#39s scared she does try to bolt. She used to hit the end of the leash and frantically chew to break free (which is why she wears a long fur saver), but now, when something new and loud is that scary, she bolts and stops when she hits the end of the leash, even going into a sit. Leah is a jaw snapping, toy playing, chew obsessed Malinois in her home and is going to need someone who understands Mals, who can supply structure, who is patient, and who can slowly build trust with her. Because she&#39s such a flight risk, we are going to be very careful about where we place her, because she means the world to us.The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.May 8, 2024, 6:20 am

They were being given away &#39free to good home&#39 and were rescued by an animal lover who didn&#39t want to see them land in the wrong hands! Fiona settled into the kennel life very easily and charmed her way into the hearts of all of the volunteers. She needed treatment for a cancerous tumor that she likely got when she became pregnant with her pups. The good news here is that she is done with her treatments and has been cancer free for over 6 months! Yay for Fiona! Fiona would love a home to call her own. She has been to obedience training, knows all her basic commands and walks well on a leash. She would do best in a home with older kids and no other dogs or cats. She loves car rides and would love an active lifestyle! If Fiona sounds like a fit for you, please let us know. For more information and the adoption application for Koa, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=22760&name=KoaKoa was originally found as a stray in a rural highway town. Animal Control does not respond to calls for strays in this area. Their suggestion was to let Koa remain on the streets. Koaâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s finders would not leave him to fend for himself - they took him in and began searching for an owner. They took all of the responsible steps to try and find someone who might be missing this magnificent dog. After tirelessly searching, they called Coastal asking for our help. We triple checked the work they had done and did our own search of lost dog post and then agreed to make room for Koa! We have been getting to know Koa and we are so impressed with this young boy. He is extremely smart, super friendly and a great walking buddy! We believe Koa is just under a year old and he is going to be an XL kinda guy. His DNA may very well show him to be a Belgian Tervuren. We will have to wait and see!
