Story
Hey there, my name is Ruth Ann! I'm a young Shepherd mix looking for a new home. I did not come to the shelter under the best conditions but they are working to help me heal and learn to trust. I am very shy but with some patience and TLC I warm up and I am very sweet. I would like a home that has experience working with under-socialized dogs. I ask any children in the home be over 13 years old due to my nervousness and fear of new people. I could get along with another dog with a proper introduction, and I have lived with others before. However, my dog pals should be larger or similar in size. I am open to living with a cat with a slow intro as well. Once I come out of my shell I am very loving and would be a fantastic companion. If you think you could give me the home I deserve then come down and lets meet!---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Story
Sweet like the candy, my name is Rolo! Once you meet me, you'll fall in love and we'll stick together! I'm a big shepherd mix ready for my forever home. I've got the basics of house life down and have lived in a home my whole life, so I'm hoping to make my stay here at the shelter short and sweet. I'm looking for a home that has time and energy for a young shepherd like me. I would be okay with a home with respectful kids of all ages, and maybe would do well with another dog! Not sure about cats, but with a proper introduction it may be possible! ---If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared --bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. We are open daily 12-6pm.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org

Story
Rue is a very loving dog and very loyal. We do not have the time to give her that she needs, and we're finally squaring up to that. While she is potty trained, she frequently has accidents in the house if she is left alone and not crated for any period of time longer than an hour, so someone who can give her plenty of time is a best fit. She loves walks and chewing toys.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!UPDATE 3/5/2024:  Buddy is having some issues being 'stiff' but as long as you don't have stairs he does great.  He does guard his toys but if you do a trade with a snack he will give them up :)  Looking for a GS experienced ownerUPDATE:  Buddy is looking fantastic!!  He is a little 'stiff' in his old age but I told him its OK so am I!  He LOVES attention, he likes his toys and he is great with the dogs although I think he would be just as happy as an only dog he does fine with all the dogs here at the ranch :)I can only imagine how Buddy must have felt...  Like no one cared, defeated, ready to give up, a banquet for fleas and tics :(  It took us quite a while to get him back to health and still he deals with ear infections from repeated ones not being treated :(  No worries now big man you are loved and valued!Buddy you have your 2nd Chance and we are going to give you an amazing life!!REQUIRES FENCED YARD!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!September 11, 2024, 4:29 pm

Story
Macie is a wonderful dog. She is sweet and gentle with a loud bark but no bite. She’s great around people, children included. Macie is house broken and obedient. She loves to play, run, and have fun. She also loves to hangout with family and go for car rides. Macie does sooo well in the car, and loves the outdoors. Macie loves Starbucks pup cups as well, and she will do trick for treats lol. She is the perfect pet for someone who wants to feel safe but does not want the threat of their dog injuring a person or another animal; someone who wants a loving and attentive companion; and someone who is physically strong because Macie is a big, strong girl. She is currently owned by a police officer who does not want to give her up, but whose schedule is becoming increasingly demanding. There is an attached photo with more information about our dog who we affectionately all Macie Momma.
