Story
Hi I’m Fred! I found my way to the rescue with my brothers and sisters when I was just 5 weeks old. Now I’m 5 months old and I’m still looking for my forever family. I’m a really good boy so I don’t know why it’s taken this long. I can be a little shy at first so maybe I don’t stand out but I’m a smart and I listen very well and once we’re friends (which doesn’t take long, especially with snacks!) I a good cuddler too! I had my first outing and went to a restaurant and ordered off the dog menu. It was a lot of new things for me but I think I liked it! With more practice I will get more confident. Did I mention I love to play with other dogs and kids! I like having friends to learn from. Fred is about 5 months old and weighs 30 lbs. His mom is a heeler mix and his dad is a shepherd mix. His adoption fee is $395 including transport and includes current shots, microchip, neuter and current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. If you are interested in Fred email us at sgdrsa@outlook.com for an application.

Story
Mac is about as close to the perfect dog that you can get, affectionate but not demanding, calm but loves to play catch, the very definition of “chill” and oh yea…he is a looker. He has no anxieties and is fine being alone. Mac would not do well in a multi pet household as he can be possessive with his humans when at home. He is great on a leash but enjoys being outside in a fenced yard, especially in winter. Full disclaimer, I have never walked him on a leash where other dog walkers are present. When we go to the dog park he is friendly to every human and dog but he is fiercely territorial and does not like to share when at home. He does not like to be brushed so visits to a very experienced groomer are necessary. My health is forcing me to downsize which is why I am looking for a new home for him. I plan on postponing any changes in my life until I know that Mac is with a good family. I am willing to assist in any way to make sure you/he are compatible and that he is happy.

We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Story
Duke is a 90 pound purebred German Shepherd, estimated to be around four years old.Duke has been a joy to foster. He came in as an owner surrender down in TX before making his way up to Milwaukee. He is a well established family pet who clearly had some training in his past. When he arrived to Rescue Gang, he already knew his name & basic obedience commands. He is a joy to go on walks with, as he rarely pulls and is happy to follow your lead. He enjoys all people, car rides & relaxing on the couch. He is a medium-energy dog, who likes to hang out with his people. Duke has a big personality that keeps us laughing. He is not a big barker, but can be very vocal through his goofy grunts and moans when he wants attention. Beyond the occasional counter surfing, he has fantastic house manners. He will not be a fit for a home with dogs who are high energy & looking for a constant playmate, as he does better simply co-existing. A home with dog savvy cats will be considered on a case by case basis. Although a fenced in yard is not a requirement, his ideal home would have an adequate amount of space for him to romp around outdoors. If you're looking for an easy going loyal companion, apply today!Requirements for adopters:*Either a home with another calm, independent large breed dog, or a home without other dogs.*Committed to daily walks and training.*Willing to keep up with shepherd's high maintenance grooming needs.*All food and garbage cans able to be securely stored and out of reach.*Single family home.DATCP# 483538

Needs special attention, Needs experienced adopter,
Story
Pure bred, not fixed, 8 year old German Shepherd female. She comes from a working line and does have some training with commands. She needs lots of room to roam around. She doesn't get along with other dogs so would need a place that is just her, no other animals. Very eager to please and needs lots of stimulation. Doesn't bark without reason and is protective of her space. I must stress she does not get along with other dogs so you cannot place her into a daycare to leave for long periods.
