Story
Kirby is a 4-year-old, 65-lb Golden Retriever and a total sweetheart! He is a gentle soul and a total space invader, wanting to get as close as possible to you for love. Sometimes he’ll rest his front paws on your lap and go completely blissed out while you rub his belly, or bring you his toys, showing it proudly to anyone who will admire it.From the moment he arrived in his foster home, he melted right in—calm, affectionate, and thrilled to be loved. He's fully house-trained, crate-trained, and so easygoing that his foster family has begun leaving him out without any issues at all.Kirby gets excited meeting new people and dogs, and lights up the second he spots a new friend, tail spinning like a helicopter as he runs to meet them. He currently lives with a 12-year-old and has been gentle and sweet with very young kids as well, walking up softly to give them a kiss. He hasn’t lived with cats so a proper introduction is recommended. He’s fantastic in the car. He loves activity, including a good rope toy to chew on, but is just as content with an easy day and a quick walk. Kirby would love to have a fenced yard because he enjoys running, but it’s not required as long as he gets some regular exercise.Kirby is truly one of the most wonderful dogs—gentle, affectionate, goofy, and full of love. He’s ready to bring love and laughter to the lucky family that chooses him.If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

Story
Hi! I'm Gypsy! I'm a beautiful golden retriever mix, about 3 years old (born 10/2021). I'm at that perfect age – not a crazy puppy, but not a slowpoke senior either! I've had a bit of a bumpy start in life, moving between homes a few times. But I'm ready for my *forever* home, and I'm hoping you're the one! My sweet golden eyes are hoping to convince you that I'm the missing piece in your family. Because of my past, I do have some anxiety, especially when kenneled for long periods. But don't worry! I take a daily anxiety medication that helps me feel much better. It's super easy – just hide it in a pill pocket with my morning meal, and I gobble it right down! It's *very* important that I get this medication *every* single morning. It's not something I can take occasionally, and I shouldn't stop taking it suddenly. My foster mom strongly recommends I stay on it for life to help me feel safe and secure after my rough start. I'm a fun-loving girl! I adore playing with toys, kids, and most other dogs. I can be a little bossy with *some* female dogs, but I get along fine with most. Cats? I'm curious at first sniff, but then I usually just ignore them. I've been around cats in other foster homes and done well. I'm a fantastic car rider – I love watching the world go by! I'm also crate trained (I might whine a little when you leave, but I settle down quickly) and house trained. I'm the perfect blend of cuddly and playful. I'll happily snuggle up with you on the couch for movie night, but I'm also ready for some zoomies in the yard or a good run! Won't you please give me my happy ending? I promise to be your loyal and loving companion forever and always. I'm just a brown-eyed girl, waiting for you! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, rabies vaccination, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Distemper combo vaccines appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm and flea/tick preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $395.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 30, 2025, 1:25 am

Story
Hi! I’m Dunne, aka Dune-buggy or Duners. Just thought I would stop in with a little update on me. If you’ve read my profile before you may know that I’m originally from Afghanistan and spent my first few years there. Because of my time there, we don’t know much about my previous life except that I was a street dog and didn’t live in a house. Now for the good update part. I’m really liking and getting the hang of this house living thing. The people and other dog I live with have been teaching me a lot of stuff and because of that I feel safer and more comfortable and confident so I do not need to always follow my temporary mom around everywhere she goes in the house. She keeps telling me that I am almost there to being a perfect gentleman. I now sit and wait for my food until I am told I can have it. Same with treats, I don’t try to grab it out of their hand. I do at times have a little too much energy and get a little too excited so I jump around or run up and down the stairs. So little kids or adults that aren’t steady on their feet might not be a good thing. I’m working on it, but sometimes I’m just too excited!!! I have learned to walk nicely on a leash. I stick pretty close to either person walking with me and do well when the other dog here is walking with too, but prefer to be with my foster mom if it’s a group walk. I get scared though of other dogs out or on leashes and tend to get a little reactive. We are working on it, but it’s hard to get over that fear. The people here have learned that I am not a fan of my kennel. I won’t fight it when they leave since the other dog here is already in his, but I get very scared to be in there. At night I don’t have to go in there at all now. This makes me so happy and grateful that I curl up and don’t move all night until it’s time to get up in the morning. Sudden movements too close to me or someone reaching out makes me nervous and cower. I am a lot better than I used to be, but it’s still a work in progress. I’m hoping to find a home that can continue to be more relaxed and patient with me as I continue on this learning journey. I like to lay around and relax most of the time and content with watching the world go by in the yard or deck as mom is tending to her gardens. I am a fast runner and need to get that energy out sometimes, so a fenced yard where I can run or someone that will take me on adventures to get that energy out would be ideal. I love to curl up on the couch with either foster parent and just be with them. Are you ready to be my cuddle partner?       Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $425.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 10, 2025, 7:15 am

Story
Meet Ryder, the red-haired, floppy-eared pup who is absolutely killing it at being adorable. This little guy is as sweet as can be…equal parts cuddle bug, shadow, and tiny tornado of joy. He’s a social butterfly who thinks every human, kid, and dog is his new best friend. Just learned stairs (big moment!), and now he proudly keeps up with the big dogs like he’s been doing it his whole life. Potty situation? He’s doing great on the leash and free-range in the backyard. Still learning the ropes (because… puppy), but he’s catching on fast. Ryder is crate trained like a champ — as long as that crate is right next to your bed. Separate room? Hard pass. Next to you? Not a peep. He’s even slept through the night a few times already, which is basically gold-medal puppy behavior. When he’s not being a sleepy angel on a blanket or dog bed, he loves: • Pig ears, bones, and all toys • Tug-of-war (does not realize he has razor-sharp little shark teeth yet) • Playing with humans • Making everyone fall in love with him Ryder is playful, snuggly, social, gorgeous, and just the right amount of chaos. He will be an amazing addition to any family lucky enough to scoop him up.  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue.
