Hello! My name is Dillyn Mae and I’m a very pretty girl who just arrived from Alabama!! I was very happy to join 2 of my siblings already at my foster home. I’ve been around a lot of dogs my first year of life so I think I would do best if I can have another dog to love. My human mom thinks I’ve never been in a house before but she says I’m doing great! I’ve learned to go up the stairs and I even sleep in the big bed with my human family! I need more time on the leash, I’m still nervous walking on leash but can you blame me? It’s all new in my world! Please give me a chance….I have so much love to give!!Dillyn Mae was heartworm positive and has completed her treatment. She received a preliminary negative result on a microfilaria test but is awaiting a negative test result to a Heartworm test 9 months after treatment per our vets recommendations. She is no longer needing to be on exercise restrictions. Dillyn Mae will need continued use of monthly heartworm prevention. I've spent most of my life in a kennel without much outside time or the love every dog deserves, but that chapter is behind me now. I'm ready to write a brand-new story! Step 1: The Great Adventure from Alabama to Minnesota ✓ COMPLETE! I've hitched my ride north and am settling in beautifully with my foster family. While I get along just fine with my two canine foster siblings, what really makes my tail wag is parking myself right next to my foster parents for premium petting sessions. When they dare to stop, I politely remind them with a gentle paw tap that my belly won't scratch itself! I'm fully kennel trained and actually love my cozy den for naps and nighttime snoozing. Overall, I'm a pretty calm, laid-back lady who believes life is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Step 2: Operation Forever Family (This is where you come in!) I'm convinced I'd fit in with just about any family, making me the easiest choice you'll ever make! I haven't met any kids yet, but honestly, they sound amazing—more hands for petting and treat distribution! Since I'm more of a "Netflix and chill" kind of gal than a "run marathons" type, I don't really need a fenced yard. I walk well on a leash and would love to be your walking buddy. Her treatment has been completed but she recently had a positive microfilaria test. She will need topical heartworm prevention, Barrier, each month until the microfilaria test is negative- preventatives will be provided by the rescue until her next test. She will need a microfilaria test every 3 months until she has a negative result. During these months, she does not need to be on exercise restrictions. Tootsie is a beautiful middle aged gal. She was found as a stray in a neighboring community. She is estimated to be between 5-7 years old and if she could talk she`d say she is in the prime of her life! Her breed(s) are unknown but she appears to have some bird dogs in her lineage. She`s a perfect 51 lbs. and has a wash & wear coat!Tootsie is pretty firm in her beliefs. She absolutely loves chasing the ball and running with her foster dad. She absolutely wishes cats did not exist. Tootsie absolutely believes humans are better than any other reward on the planet. Tootsie, also, absolutely does not want to share her home with any other canines.Tootsie can be made to appear as if she a handful, a problem, questionable. When she first came to us we were concerned about all of these things. But we know one thing. Tootsie craves praise and adoration from her people, and she has proven that day after day. She wants this. It is an incredible thing to witness a dog shed the old persona and try a new one on, especially a reactive dog. She`s not always going to get it right, so she needs people that will continue to have her back and not try to make her something she is not. Tootsie needs to be the only pet in the home. She has made huge improvements and is now comfortable walking past and casually being around other dogs in passing. Beyond that she is an easy keeper. Want to go for a long hike? She`s your gal! Feeling like a couch day? She`s got the snacks. Tootsie is going to love her new humans with every fiber of her being.
