Meet Nellie Nellie, a Great Pyrenees, joined BAARK when her owner was no longer able to care for himself, much less her. As such, she was in pretty rough physical condition when she was surrendered, but clearly had received plenty of attention and love. Nellie is estimated to be 7-8 years old and weighs about 80 lbs. When meeting new people, Nellie is a little shy at first. We believe that this is because she had very little exposure to new people when with her previous owner. However, in her foster home, with patience and, in following the lead of her new canine friends, Nellie has really blossomed. She now gives kisses and lots of tail wags when her foster mom and dad get home from work. She gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes. In typical Great Pyr fashion, she loves patrolling the fence line and she is especially in tune to large birds flying overhead. Her foster family appreciates her level of alert, as Nellie watches over her much smaller foster brother and sisters in the home. Nellie is housebroken and is just fine being un-crated at home by herself. Nellie joined our rescue organization back in June. She is just becoming available for adoption as she has a long recovery from a mass removal on her paw pad (benign). She has 3 toes on that paw but gets around just fine. Nellie is in overall great health. She’s spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventative. Meet Biscuit Biscuit is a beautiful Great Pyrenees-Lab mix with expressive golden eyes. He is estimated to be 4 years old, weighing in at 77 lbs. He’s in great shape and is an overall wonderful dog. Although a mix of two active breeds, Biscuit is a fairly calm, very sweet dog. He’s shown himself to be very smart and a very quick learner. He is housebroken and walks very nicely on a leash, alone and also along with his canine housemate. He’s great with other dogs and wonderful with people too. We do not know how he is with cats. Biscuit enjoys playing ball in his secure, fenced yard but is not interested in other toys. Typical of the Great Pyrenees breed, Biscuit is somewhat protective of his foster home and family, and, like a watchdog, alerts his foster to potential threats by barking. However once he is aware of the situation and sees it as non-threatening, he will welcome any stranger! An ideal family for Biscuit is one with large-dog, preferably Great Pyrenees or Labrador Retriever experience, a secure fenced yard, and the time to spend training Biscuit to evolve into the best version of himself. Older children should be ok but because of his size and enthusiasm, he could be too much dog for a younger child. Biscuit is fully vetted, up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. Izzy loves hopping in the car for a ride and going on long, fun walks. She’s super smart and picking up new tricks fast — she already knows "stay" and "sit" and is working hard on her crate training! Izzy is a total social butterfly who’s house-trained, loves a good bath, and thinks getting brushed is just the best. Trips to the vet? No problem — Izzy’s as cool as can be and a perfect patient. She’s ready to fill someone’s life with love, laughter, and a few extra cuddles. Could it be yours? All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested (if age appropriate), and up-to-date on preventatives at the time of adoption. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Victor, He is an 20 month old Pyrenees/Hound mix! Victor is a BIG boy! Victor is a sweet, smart, and inquisitive guy. He picks up on household routines quickly and just wants to be involved with whatever is going on around him. He enjoys affection and will seek out pets by leaning against you or putting his head on your arm or leg. He is fully potty trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands. He is still young, so he does need some more practice/training with leash walking, recall, and a few basic manners. However, he learns fast and is very treat motivated (and he takes treats very nicely!) He enjoys puzzle toys, snuffle mats, and other enrichment items. He will sometimes carry around stuffed dog toys or chase balls, but he has more of an interest in tougher toys and bones that he can chew on. He does tend to get bored easily, which can lead to some mischievous behavior. But with daily exercise, enrichment activities, and chew toys, he becomes very relaxed and content. Despite his size, he's gentle with people and greets strangers well. He would probably do best with older kids though, as he might accidentally knock over little kids when he gets excited. He has a great temperament with other dogs and would thrive with a dog companion to play with. He loves to play “chase” in the yard, wrestle around, and play tug of war with his foster brother.
