Gus is a 5 year old Great Pyrenees, German Shepherd and Golden Retriever mix. He is an active, affectionate dog who enjoys both relaxing days on the couch and getting outside for walks and exercise. He weighs 85 lbs. Gus has experience being around small children, though he would thrive best in a home with young adults or older children. While he can be selective with other dogs, he has successfully adjusted to living with another dog in the past with proper time and introduction. However, he is probably best as the star of the show! He would do best with an owner who can provide him with structure, attention, and regular activity while also appreciating his calm and loyal nature indoors. He’d love to have a fenced in yard to lounge around in and freely roam to stretch his legs. Local adoptions only. We do not adopt out of the state of Illinois. Gus is being fostered in a private home. Appointments to meet him will be set up for approved adopters only. His adoption fee is $300 which includes all age appropriate vaccines. He is spayed, microchipped and Heartworm negative. He has also been kept on both flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. This girl is one princess of fluff - she is shy at first in doggie playgroup but if the other dogs are gentle, she starts to bow and prance around to play. She dances and bounces like a bunny around the yard when she's comfortable. She is easily comforted by people and likes being near her foster family. Diamond loves being petted and brushed. She has a white/cream long coat with tan 'freckles' on her face. Diamond shows no signs of preferring being a 'working dog' and living with livestock outside. Instead, she finds her crate inside quickly and lays down to nibble her kibble one at a time. Diamond does not have leash experience, lays down and had to be carried to/from car and in Vet clinic. Car rides make her nervous, she did best in a crate for containment. Likely this girl had an isolated puppyhood in the rural county and not familiar with field trips; car rides and leashes. She is Quiet and does not growl or bark/whine when moved around. Guessed to be under 2 years old - just a teen! She is spayed, up to date on vaccines and on prevention (negative for heartworms). Housetrained, crate trained and part of a suburban foster home. "Great Pyrenees are generally excellent family dogs, known as "gentle giants" that are loyal, calm, and protective of children, often viewing them as a flock to guard. They are patient and affectionate but require consistent training due to an independent nature and need secure fencing because of a natural urge to roam". That pretty much sums me up! Good thing CDR provides free training as part of the adoption fee! And lets not forget my amazing, flowing coat! It's a thick double coat that sheds year-round and requires regular brushing to avoid mats and to keep me always looking my best! And I will be a BIG dog when I am done growing up! Buddy is a one and a half year old Great Pyrenees mix. He came from a farm where he was allowed to roam freely. He was surrendered to FOCCAS because his humans could no longer care for him due to health problems. Buddy is looking for someone to put some time into training him in basic commands and house manners and take him on walks. FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. The adoption fee Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea/Tick/Heartworm Prevention, and Sheltering. Zuzu : a spunky name for a spunky gal! Zuzu is a 2 yo Great Pyrenees with a unique feature: a corkscrew tail! This very much epitomizes her upbeat and playful nature. Zuzu is HIGH energy, ready to engage in wrestling, tug, or zooming with any & every dog in your household! The only time she slows down & her tail uncorks is when she sleeps. Her past is a mystery. She was found as a stray in Hondo with evidence of sometime having had a litter of puppies. Her coat was a matted mess, so she had to be shaved. An abundance (if you know the breed you know ) of soft white fur is growing in. Great Pyrenees are fantastic family dogs, taking guardianship of their family seriously. Because of her go-go-go nature, Zuzu would do best in a home with a lively companion dog that will submit to her dominant nature. Also true to breed, although she understands basic commands, Zuzu weighs them & independently decides whether or not to follow them at any given time. Persistence, patience & acceptance of this gentle giant’s qualities are needed. She is a gorgeous good dog waiting for her “furever” home. Love and laughter are sure to follow her lively antics.
