Zoey has it all…she’s gorgeous, personable, sociable, and…wants to be your best friend. Yes, Zoey is a Great Pyrenees, estimated to be 2 years old, weighing about 73 lbs. She’s super sweet, very loving, and very easy going. She loves people and is good with other dogs. She is fine with cats too! She’s a perfect family dog. She loves long walks, cuddling with her person, and playing with her favorite toys in the secure back yard of her foster home. Zoey will make you smile and laugh every day. An ideal home for Zoey would have a secure, large above-ground fenced yard (6 ft., one she can not climb over!). A canine friend would be nice but Zoey would be fine as an only dog as well. Awareness of the needs of the breed is a must! They require regular grooming and of course plenty of attention. In the case of Zoey, she also is looking for plenty of cuddles, affection….and toys! Experience with the Great Pyrenees is a requirement. Zoey fully vetted, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round preventative, spayed and microchipped. She is housebroken as well. Story

Meet Nellie Nellie, a Great Pyrenees, joined BAARK when her owner was no longer able to care for himself, much less her. As such, she was in pretty rough physical condition when she was surrendered, but clearly had received plenty of attention and love. Nellie is estimated to be 7-8 years old and weighs about 80 lbs. When meeting new people, Nellie is a little shy at first. We believe that this is because she had very little exposure to new people when with her previous owner. However, in her foster home, with patience and, in following the lead of her new canine friends, Nellie has really blossomed. She now gives kisses and lots of tail wags when her foster mom and dad get home from work. She gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes. In typical Great Pyr fashion, she loves patrolling the fence line and she is especially in tune to large birds flying overhead. Her foster family appreciates her level of alert, as Nellie watches over her much smaller foster brother and sisters in the home. Nellie is housebroken and is just fine being un-crated at home by herself. Nellie joined our rescue organization back in June. She is just becoming available for adoption as she has a long recovery from a mass removal on her paw pad (benign). She has 3 toes on that paw but gets around just fine. Nellie is in overall great health. She’s spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventative. Story

Boone is a sweet, gentle, Great Pyrenees mix with a calm, quiet demeanor. He is estimated to be about 3 years but has an older aura about him. In fact when we agreed to bring Boone into our rescue organization, we expected that he was a senior; he was in such bad shape and completely emaciated. He had been found laying along a highway, too weak to move on his own. He was horribly matted and full of caked dirt.Over the last weeks, Boone has been working on building up his strength and also getting back to a good weight. He’s been getting plenty of exercise walking around in the large fenced-in yard of his foster home. He’s also been eating good high-quality food, and receiving beneficial supplements too. He’s definitely on track to becoming a healthy dog, a healthy 3 year old dog! In addition, his fur is growing back nicely as he evolves into a very handsome boy! Boone currently weighs 75 lbs.Initially Boone was timid and scared of new things. However he has been blossoming and gaining confidence every day, thanks to the other dogs in his foster home, and his interest in what they are doing.An ideal home for Boone is a quieter environment, with 1-2 calm dogs. He could be ok as an only dog too. Cat experience is unknown but we expect he would be uninterested in cats.A one-level home is best for Boone, as he struggles going up and down flights of stairs, but is ok with 2-3 stairs. Carpeted flooring or, hardwood floors covered with area rugs, would also be helpful in ensuring Boone does not slip on hard surface floors.Boone is fully vetted, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested and on year-round preventative, neutered and microchipped, He is housebroken and crate trained. Story

Buddy is a Great Pyrenees (possibly Mix), about 3 years old. He was found lying in a ditch along the road, in Louisiana. Who knows how many drivers passed him by as he lay there, suffering for days before one person stopped to help him. He was barely able to walk, he was so emaciated and dehydrated. And it was obvious that he had a bad injury to his right hind leg.The Good Samaritan took him to her home to nurse him back to health but recognized she could not keep him. Thankfully we learned of her need for help for Buddy and, he was able to join us early this summer.Upon his arrival, Buddy was found to be heartworm positive. He’s been undergoing treatment and his final treatment is the end of August. We expect him to be cleared and heartworm-free thereafter. This is only one of the medical challenges faced by Buddy.Buddy has been doing great, gaining weight and beginning to look healthy. He currently weighs 87 lbs. He can afford to gain a few more pounds; we anticipate his idea weight to be 95 lbs.So all is good with Buddy in moving toward his heartworm-free status and his gaining weight…and strength. However, as noted above, Buddy does have a bad leg injury; he may have been hit by a car and that injury/fracture was never addressed.As such his right hind leg is “frozen” into an elevated position. An initial vet exam concluded that Buddy is not in pain due to this injury but we’d like to still have him examined by an orthopedic surgeon to be sure that keeping the leg will not cause future problems…vs amputation as another option.It seems Buddy has gotten use to the positioning of his right hind leg; he gets around fine and, now that he’s getting plenty of exercise at his foster home, his left hind leg has become much stronger and he’s become very agile with no trouble getting around. He can manage a few stairs in his home but cannot run up an entire staircase.Buddy is a true lover of nature! He loves to be outside at all times and sometimes his foster mom has trouble convincing him to come inside! As such a secure fenced yard is an absolute MUST in his forever home, so he can spend as much time as possible outside!! It would also be beneficial to allow Buddy to come in and out whenever he wants (i.e., a doggy door). Buddy does well, home alone. He is not crated but is allowed to be free in the home and is not destructive in any way.He absolutely love the attention of people especially if those people are females. As such an all-female household is best for Buddy. He seems scared of men which likely is a result of past mistreatment. Buddy is also very good, and gentle, with children.An ideal family for Buddy…Great Pyrenees experience, a female-only household, a secure fenced yard, and a willingness to allow Buddy to spend lots of time outside! And, of course, plenty of attention and love!!!Buddy is up to date on all vaccinations, and will soon be heartworm negative (last treatment end of August). He must be on year-round heartworm prevention as should all dogs . Buddy also benefits from a daily joint supplement as well as a good-quality source of omega-3’s and 6’s. My mom and 8 siblings were rescued from a kill shelter in December 2025. Mom had a DNA test done, and it showed that she was mostly Cattle Dog, Great Pyrenees, Shepherd and other mixes. Although we are mixed, and so cute, we were lucky to be saved. I am house trained and crate trained. I am a very good guest greeter. I do not run out the door when it is opened. I don’t jump or bark at people when they come over. My tail wags a mile a minute. Foster mom calls me Wiggle Butt.I do enjoy being around the other dogs in my foster home. I could be an only dog if you are home more often than not. I have not met any cats, so I do not know how I feel about them. I walk very good on a leash. I like going for car rides so I could definitely be a travel companion. I know a few commands and usually respond the first time they are given. I know inside, outside, sit, leave it, wait, easy, off, quiet and come. I am sure you can teach me a lot more.If you are looking for a nice, friendly dog and don’t care about the breed, I would make a great addition to your family. I really would love to have my own family. My fur is soft, white and I have brown spotted ears. I am absolutely adorable and smart too!
